I am happy to find this forum with other couples taking the same journey! My husband and I were married on Feb 3, 2017 in the Dominican Republic. I'm American, he is Dominican. We filed the I-130 petition on 4/8/17. We are awaiting the NOA to file for a K3. I wanted to know if anyone had success with filing for a K3/I-129 and getting your spouse here sooner? We are newbies to the immigration process and it seems from what I read & researched the I-130 takes nearly a year or more. I also read the I-130 is just the first step of many to complete before my husband can legally come to the USA. We are filing everything without a lawyer mainly because all of our funds are going to visa fees and travel fees for me and maintaining 2 different household expenses in 2 different countries while we go through this process. It's wholeheartedly difficult and expensive to be away from each other but we pray everyday that this will be over soon.....
My questions :
1 Has anyone had success with filing for a K3/I-129?
2 Can someone lay out all the forms that I need to file?
I-130, DS-260 etc?
3 Can someone please share their experience after getting full I-130 approval how much longer did it take to complete the rest of the process?
