In October of 2003 I took two weeks of vacation to go back to Trinidad to visit my parents and for some rest and relaxation since I had not been back for at least 15 years. During those two weeks my parents took my parents took me to Tobago for two days. It was there in Tobago where I met Donna. She picked us up at the airport and was going to be our tour guide. From the time Donna picked us up I realized her warmth and inviting smile that I still get over to this day. She took us to different sites on Tobago and the beach. I really enjoyed the tour. Donna said this is the first time she did a tour but she couldn’t convince me of that. To me she was like a veteran. The only part I didn’t like is when she dropped us at the beach and didn’t accompany us. Though I had a marvelous time at the beach I found myself missing her presence.
After the two days had ended Donna took us back to the airport where we had some drinks since the flight was delayed by the grace of God. This was one time when I didn’t mind waiting because I wasn’t ready to leave as of yet. I bought her the drink that she had sometime during our tour. Donna couldn’t believe I remembered what she drank and portrayed for me that trademark smile I have now come to know so well. When we finally said our goodbyes and Donna and I hugged it was like something went through my body. I gave Donna a kiss on the neck in addition to the hug. After my parents and I got back to Trinidad I was contemplating on how I would get back in touch with Donna. I wanted to ask my mother for her phone number but I didn’t want to be disrespectful. So I didn’t ask for Donna’s phone number at that time. Upon arriving back in the US I got up enough nerve to try my luck and I called my mom to ask for Donna’s phone number. My mom asked me why I wanted the number. I told her I wanted to thank Donna for the most wonderful vacation I had. Surprisingly to me, she gave me Donna’s phone number. Donna and I have been talking since then and have not missed a single day of communicating with each other, whether it be by phone, email or web cam.
After communicating for a few weeks Donna decided to travel to the US on a visitor’s visa for two weeks. Donna arrived in the US on November 20th, 2003 and had to catch a cab to the house because I was working at the time. I gave Donna all the directions for the cab to drop her at the house and information for her to enter the house. Fortunately, I was at home when she arrived at the house. When Donna rang the doorbell and I opened the door we hugged and kissed as though we known each other for the longest time. During those two weeks Donna met AJ and Gabriel in person after meeting them by phone and web cam. They had already started calling her mom. Donna’s kids (Arika and Travis) had already started calling me dad as well. It was really touching to us haw the kids just picked up on that and took off with it. Though the kids had not meet each other in person they were calling each other brothers and sister. Donna also meet some of my other family members, namely my sister and her family and my aunt and her son. Everyone in my family accepted and welcomed Donna with open arms and noticed how much opened up I had become since meeting her.
Donna returned to Tobago and we continued communicating via email, phone, and web cam. She returned to the US on January 08th 2004 with her two younger kids (Arika and Travis). Who got the opportunity to meet AJ, Gabriel and me in person. That visit was also a success Donna and I were growing to love each other more and more the kids were happy for us and they were also happy together. We started talking about one of us having to migrate so we can be together. After sorting things carefully between us we agreed it would be more accommodating if Donna move to the US. We are looking forward to getting married. We would like to have a nice small wedding with our families there.
We plan to get marry in the US. Hence we are going through the process of the K-1 visa and sourcing all the various documents needed for the filing of the K-1 visa. In the meantime we continue to communicate daily and we have started planning our wedding so we can get married within the stipulated 90 days when Donna is granted the K-1 visa.
Thank you.
