Hello everyone! My partner and I are a same-sex couple who have been navigating the USCIS immigration system since 2015. My spouse, who is from a Muslim country, came to America on a student visa and initially had to fulfill the J-1 waiver's two-year home residency requirement to stay in the country. We applied for the J-1 waiver, but unfortunately, it was denied.
When we got married, we thought this would make the process easier, but my spouse ended up having to return to his home country for three years. This was incredibly difficult, as I had to travel from America to North Africa during that time. In 2021, we filed a petition to bring him back to the U.S.
As of 2024, he is finally back in America, and I am grateful to have him home. I hope to help others who are struggling with similar situations.
