Still trying to get a proper feel because I have not moved to the US just yet. Based on my wife's family and my own feeling I would be leaning definitely MDR, not seeing anything MDL that appeals so far. That's assuming I have your abbreviations correct, middle right v middle left.

But I love sarcasm so fire away

Sorry but the MD is for muddy ditch. It pretty much means you've flipped and rolled your vehicle and are stuck in some muck. Middle of the roaders are also prone to erratic driving, so use caution! Safe driving!

Other than having to deal with the hills and no Eifel Tower she would have felt right at home in San Francisco.

San Fran is a great place to visit. I highly recommend checking it out if you have the chance.

It's more the way the thread was created with the over the top misleading title that made me comment. I never said I supported it nor would I, as it stands at present the bill will not pass so no need for scare mongering.

Some days I just look at the new threads and like you I give them a wide berth but the topic of this one is just a little to personal for me not to comment.

The title of your thread is very misleading "Under new health bill, rape is a pre-existing condition"

No it's not, read your own links and the one word in each title is "Could",  your thread is just scare mongering.

And as a survivor myself of 13 years of psychical abuse by my ex wife I can guarantee you it's not only hubby that does the hitting. Really it didn't need to be added to the end of your post.

I wouldn't imagine any are calling for the dissolution of the Irish state but there are many wishing to destroy the United States. A few were picked up fundraising and sending funds to the middle east. Maybe we should just leave them alone because they mean us no harm, but your government might be just a little interested.

I wouldn't imagine the people at Westminster were too worried about Aussies running about in Shepherds Bush, remind me again who they should fear.

So let's not call them ghettos because that seems to offend, we can use the word communities instead. If you go to Chinatown or Little Italy will you find people preaching how to take your country down? What about the local Jewish Temple are they preaching hate against fellow citizens?

Was Isreal or Italy or even China on Trump or Obamas list of terrorist countries? Its not because France treated the terrorists badly that they attacked, it's because they are terrorists. What your implying is that if they had been taken straight to the good people of California then they would not have turned into terrorists.

From where you are in the US you can speak about how and where you live and it's not for me to say or deny what you say to be true. So where I live in Dublin there is no social segregation,  the local Muslims who came from the middle east tend to all rent homes within a community not too far from me. They have their own shops and most have there own schooling. Rarely do you see them stray from the area around their mosque. It is not a ghetto, in fact the rent would fairly high because it's close to the city centre, they choose not to mix they are not being forced. There would be a lot of mixed nationalities where I live, mostly staff for the local hospitals. I am by no means a racist or anti immigrant, in fact I enjoy meeting others of different cultures. But there is a large section of the Muslim community who do not want anything from Ireland or it's people, being in this country is nothing more than an escape. They create their own little country within mine and they do it in every country across Europe and they will do it in the USA if allowed. When American cities start getting attacked the way it's happening in France people will look back wondering how and why, just look at Europe and it will come to a city near you if you don't take notice.

Sorry I have to totally disagree. Living in Europe and regularly holidaying I don't need to read anything to see whats happening. The topic at hand is security, all the current elections across the world are based on security and border protection. Now if your trying to say it something that's made up by the papers and it's just a case of ignorance then you really need a holiday in France to see the reality.

Comparing a Jewish community in France with a Muslim one is just bonkers. Getting a loaf of bread from the local Jewish bakery is no issue, service with a smile, try entering one of the tight knit muslim areas and see how your welcomed. And I am not anti muslim but I am against any race or religion that chooses to set up in my country and refuses to mix.

All the backlash to Trump's immigration policy, honestly for those of you who have never visited France or Belgium and at the moment on a smaller scale my own country. Take a visit and see these ghetto's, these people don't want to integrate and the local police forces struggle to enter. Their wish is to form a smaller country within your own borders and police it themselves with no outside influence. It's easy to say yes to open borders when you have not fully witnessed the destruction that goes with it.

!. Is a joke about the Irish building America and honestly I was not expecting to have to defend it. It's more to do with the amount of builders who emigrated and left us with very little at home.

    2. I wish it was as you describe and it's just us bad Europeans putting the immigrants from the middle east in ghetto's. But unfortunately that's not the way it is in real life. If I want to talk about a segment of people how do I describe them without using a "them" type word without you taking it as if I am a racist. Ireland is a very free country with no restrictions whatsoever but yet "they" choose to segregate themselves from the rest of the community. No one has to lose their national identity when they emigrate but you should assimilate, it's not a bad word. Why move to another country if you have no wish to embrace the culture and the people.

I will say it again, what you have crossing your southern border is not the same as we have coming in to the EU.

As odd is this may seem the first St Patrick's Day parade was celebrated in the USA in 1762, so it is already yours. And everyone knows the Irish built America or at least it's what we tell ourselves.

The immigrants choose to isolate themselves that's my issue. I wish they would just get involved instead of always hankering back to whats going on in the middle east and bringing the violence from there to other countries. When I move to the US I fully expect to assimilate instead of going to look for a whole neighborhood of Irish. At the moment I am not aware of any ghetto type areas in the US with immigrants from the middle east but why should they act any differently in the USA than they have done in Europe.

Be careful what you wish for.

Then you take the next batch of immigrants from the middle east on your doorstep and see if your opinion changes down the road.

There is nothing ignorant about wanting to be safe from people who don't want to assimilate within a democratic country.
