How does one mistakenly get a duplicate A number is a mystery no one can solve. Human error is a huge likely guess. Very true. But from where? Is it obtained by info or by Alien number. We've all seen A# issued in duplicate before and it's not hard to guess that an easy error by a lackadaisical agent isn't a far off thought. Are there two A files now even? Did the agent have access to that info? Are important documents going to separated? Is this going to be fixable easily? We don't know what the agent saw or even could see. Perhaps if the OP had given their original A number instead of their receipt number the result would have been different. Not fixed but not divulged. No one can answer that. It was not clear whether or not the OP had received the actually biometrics notice by mail as in one paragraph they said they were waiting for it and another that they had already received it, so I asked what it said in regards to the Alien # listed on it to make some deductions on what may have happened. And what's the big deal? As above your case does not magically begin adjudication once biometrics are complete. In fact, biometrics can take place at the beginning, middle or end of the adjudication process for any petition type. It just has to be done EVENTUALLY and before approval. How do we, as USCIS customers, FIX (and instead, not MANIPULATE) their procedures? If they are scheduling biometrics far too soon because of issues with USPS how will they KNOW unless so many ppl start missing their biometrics that they have to do something about how soon they schedule? I disagree with this wholeheartedly. We don't make up the protocol for USCIS. We follow their procedures and stop pushing the envelope. And we sure as he-double hockey stix don't promote something like that here where something so easily can be turned into a rule to newbies who do not understand the process. That's frightening. Which is fine. But waiting for the Online Access mailer is part of the process. I agree. Not necessarily but quite possibly, as above, two Afiles separated by a million boxes or a thousand miles between SCs/FOs/storage is scary. It does if you think about future filings. Which file will they be matched up with? Have you ever heard of horror stories of ppl with two SSNs? We're lucky that citizenship only takes up around ten years of our lives. I can wonder why. If knowing why ends up helping other prevent it, it's not wrong to want to know why. My point was the OP made it sound like the holy grail of how one receives access to their online account and quite possibly exaggerated the stronghold of the info. Just because a group of newbies created their own procedure on what they think should be done doesn't make it right. And it doesn't make everything I've said wrong either. Sure I do. I get daily emails from USCIS on policy change and memorandums and form and filing updates. I read new form updates and their instructions and see their updated forms' webpage for new recommendations. Just because my answers are short and blunt doesn't mean, they aren't worthy. The majority of us answer the same questions weekly. My fingers bleed but I still help. Again, "able to" does not mean "eligble to". While USCIS may LET YOU, it in no way means you SHOULD unless specifically instructed to. "If applicable" is a phrase that is largely misinterpreted. Until USCIS comes out with revised clarification on their instructions for online RFE responses, I stand by that. As above. And? What does having to reschedule your Biometrics mean to your process? Absolutely nothing at all. In fact, you'd be helping the process and USCIS as a whole. I'd like to see that one resolved too but I'm hard pressed to see anyone announce their discrepancy.

Not sure where you have read that but you have misunderstood what the term "principal immigrant" means. Each person is the principal immigrant on their own I864 so the answers for each will vary on their own form. Ie. In layman's terms, you would not list your K1 as the name of the K2 because the K2 has their own name. Please read through the form and it's instructions carefully. K2s are not derivatives for the K visa adjustment process. Derivatives only come into play on the I130 form and the I751 form in some circumstances.

https://www.uscis.gov/about-us/contact-us Lockbox If you have a question about a filing mailed to the Chicago, Dallas, Phoenix, or Elgin Lockbox you may email us at lockboxsupport@uscis.dhs.gov and we will answer your email as soon as possible. Please include the form number, receipt number, petitioner and/or applicant name, and mailing address. Do not include Social Security numbers in emails. Examples of Lockbox questions include: The reason your submission was rejected; How or where to submit an application or petition that should be filed at one of the four Lockbox locations; and Filing more than 30 days ago and not yet receiving a receipt notice.

It can take up to 30 days to receive Noa1 in the mail from when the shipment is received not sent until you are eligible to place an email enquiry with the lockbox. The website states that. One person, who is a current AOS filer and has posted less than 300 comments in his time on VJ. Other places, please link them so it can be corrected so your problem doesn't become one for many. Following the official website for timelines and protocol imperative. I'll go as far as to say that your error came from the online chat agent (whom you didn't need to contact) providing info for a different immigrant and mistakenly connecting it to you. Keyword. Which is the correct protocol as outlined by USCIS. How would you know that for sure if you haven't received the biometrics notice in thy mail?

Walk ins are for going BEFORE your schedule appointment if you can't make the scheduled appointment, not after. You did the right thing by rescheduling. Just have to wait like they stated. Not a big deal to have to wait. It doesn't delay your process. It's not like having biometrics done allows the process to begin. Your case will likely sit for months. Biometrics completed or not.

ONE DOSE of any of the vaccine is required EXCEPT COVID which requires TWO. You can see that in the policy manual and on the CDC website. Lots of incorrect advice here. Please fill out your timeline! I do not help those with blank timelines!! Your membership to VJ is a two way street. We help with info. You help with statistics. It's so important that they have made an emoji for it. #3

I864 needs to be filed out for each immigrant. They are not exact copies so you cannot attach a copy of your K1s I864 to each K2s I485. Each K2 needs their own I864 with THEIR info as the primary immigrant. If you actually join the VJ K1 AOS filing month for the month you will be filing and the month prior, you can get easy answers to all of these and you can look at many many many many coverletters. You can also look at the VJ guides. Anything with an X is not needed and should NOT be sent unless marked with a question asking what you meant. I'm sure you can figure that part out as it's likely just a missnaming of a document. Ensure you have read the instructions for every form. By what you've compiled, you've likely misunderstood the instructions for, especially the I864. How one fills it out is statistically one of the biggest errors in this process. How you fill it out AND what documents you send is based on your personal financial situation. Exact documents to support your exact amounts in the form. Nothing MORE and nothing LESS. Useless docs get you RFE. Lots of posts on the I864 and especially the generic RFEs one receives. Those will be good reads for you.

This part confuses me. You contacted USCIS for ? You needed an online access code for what? Biometrics noticed are mailed to the patient. Which biometrics notice? One that was mailed to you or one that you printed after creating an online account and finding your bio notice online? It = mailed or downloaded?

Your post is unclear. Define "was needed"? Needed to complete the SERIES (even though only one vaccine is needed (excluding Covid) of each age appropriate vaccine to complete DS3025) because he WANTED to be fully vaccinated OR he received a waiver for any not completed and that would be marked on the DS3025 as such? His DS3025 would be marked complete if complete. He would not need any more vaccines. OR Is his DS3025 marked INCOMPLETE on the bottom left corner? If DS3025 is marked complete and IS complete, he can use it as his valid medical exam proof if he files I485 within 1 year of overseas medical exam date. Any vaccines received after overseas medical is unnecessary for immigration if DS3025 is marked complete.

What does the website say when you: 1. Enter your info for I765 using NBC as your Service location? 2. Enter your info for I131 using NBC as your Service location. 3. Enter your info for I485 using your LOCAL FIELD OFFICE as your Service location? https://egov.uscis.gov/processing-times/ That is how you monitor your timelines. Check it monthly. AND it will tell you when you become outside of normal processing times. Only when you are, are you eligible to make contact with USCIS to enquire AND that is done directly through the website. PS. Comparing yourself to anyone else is useless.

Correct. Incorrect. That is the method for USCs only. I'd never expect a county clerk to know or care to know even if you told them, the process for immigrants. No. That's false too. SOME ML's have blanks for your new married name but it's rare. Most MLs AND Marriage CERTIFICATES (MCs) will only have the maiden name listed next to the bride. That's normal and completely fine. ANY party to the marriage can use any combination of names listed ON THE MC moving forward in part as their new legal married name. Normal. Fine. Immigrants "change" their legal name through immigration. By applying for your next forms using any names as listed in part on your MC, you will be issued an immigration document in that name and THEN you can use THAT IMMIGRATION DOCUMENT to obtain other documents (like an SSN and DL) in that new name. Yes. As long as A name appears on your MC you can use it as part of your own. No. It's the legal name change document that has names on it that proves you have a legal scenario where you are allowed to go by a new name as long as it appears in part on the MC. Your name has already been changed by getting married so do you wish. You just don't have ID that says so.

Question about traveling
K1visaHopeful replied to ABodden's topic in Working & Traveling During US Immigration
This statement here is still confusing. I131 is for those awaiting GCs, so those who aren't residents yet OR for residents who are planning to stay out of the US for more than one year. Neither is the case for you as your husband IS already a resident and is not leaving the US for a year. No such thing. -
Question about traveling
K1visaHopeful replied to ABodden's topic in Working & Traveling During US Immigration
"That" travel form refers to what travel form? In Canada? No. He can renew it by mail while in the US. Since you haven't specified how you will be traveling and it's unsure if you understand what a passport is needed for the basics are if he's flying, he'll need a passport. By border crossing, he'll likely be able to get over the border to Canada with just his Canadian BC but returning to US without a passport would likely be difficult but may be not impossible. Without further details on your part, the best advice would be to renew his passport from the US before any international travel. Renewing a passport in Canada in an emergency while there even if he could get in with his BC, may not be the best route to go. -
Ensure you have read the forms website for each form you are filing. The I485 forms webpage states: "Applications and petitions postmarked on or after April 1, 2024, must include the new fees or USCIS will not accept them." As with all new USCIS implementations, postmarked date matters NOT when it is received by USCIS. Your timeline is blank as well. Having a blank timeline is a disservice to VJ in general as it relies on member timelines to predict accurate estimated timelines for all.
