Our AOS application still says fingerprint fee received on Feb 27th. Not sure when we can call and inquire about it. Weird that you are moving along with AOS and not EAD, and that we're the other way around!

Don't worry, we will all get our updates sooner or later. It really is a waiting game. I'm just glad we have no RFE for this and AOS update got sooner than expected. Crossing my fingers for you on AOS and mine for my EAD. :D

You got it. They started processing december 3rd applications from february 28th, 2017. But today its April 28. So its moving forward but they just dont update it instantly, they update the processing times after a month or two. So from december 3 to february 28 is just under 90 days. This gives us the idea that other applications filed after december or january may also be processed in around 90 days.

Got it! It is, indeed, on time but they should update the site more often. Thanks! 👌

Dude most EAD applications are being processed at NBC and when NBC has too much workload only then they transfer to other service centers. The processing times are not inaccurate, you just need to check the NBC processing times instead of Texas, her application was processed in normal time. The receipts numbers containing 'MSC' tell you that the application is being handled by NBC (formerly Missouri Service Center)

Oh I see. I just checked NBC as well and it says Dec. 2016 for I-765. Then again, the dates posted are as of Feb. 28, 2017, so it means to say add two months to the processing time?

Hi everyone. We got an update on our EAD today, it says "Case was approved" and that they will mail us an approval notice. So this is good news! Once we get the notice, can my husband start working, or do we need to wait on something else? Also, still no progress on AOS, case still says fingerprint fee received.

Congratulations! I checked the Texas Service Center processing time for EAD and it says they're processing the ones from Dec. 2016. Comparing to your filing date, yours was processed early, so I'm thinking these processing times are not that accurate?

You may get an SSN when he gets his EAD card so he can start working.

    Haha. Really?

I wouldn't mind an update even if it says 'Case is ready to be scheduled for an interview'. :D I mean I knew it can take forever but...yeah, a status update would be nice.

Yeah. We're like 4 days apart from filing and biometrics appointment. :D Got my Timeline up here but I don't know how to put it in my signature. :D I'm pretty sure your update is just around the corner. All of us will get through this eventually. It's just the waiting sucks.

That's good about the interview update.

But don't get your hopes up about the EAD. According to the most recent timelines, you've still got at least another month to go before you can expect any updates on the EAD.

Yeah, that popped my bubble. I just realize that EAD is processed separately from AOS. Glad I still have an update as I have been checking the USCIS case site multiple times in a day, lol! Thanks.

  7. Same experience with me. I got denied with a B2 visa before since my purpose of travel is to visit my then bf. I was also a student without any travel experience at that time but with businesses and properties under my name. The consul rejected on the insufficient ties reason but I'm guessing since my bf is in the US, K1 visa will be more appropriate.

Fast forward 3 years, when I got interviewed for a K1 visa, it only took me 5 mins since the consul saw I was denied before with the reason of visiting of him, lol! It won't hurt to try. Just don't lie and don't get your hopes too high.

That's the law (under which all COs adjudicate b1\b2).  Not specific to Phils.

Thanks for pointing this out because I am not aware that all tourist visa applicants are tagged as such.

That's not a Filipino thing, ALL tourist visa applicants all over the world are tagged as intending immigrants until the prove they're not. That's the law.

Some countries citizens have a harder time proving those ties than others, but everyone has to overcome 214(b).

Hi, Mac! I am actually speaking on behalf as a Filipino here, so I am not sure about how it is with other nationalities given the fact that there are a lot of Filipinos given with a tourist visa who never came back.

There's no magic amount to have in a bank account. A miilionaire can be denied and a poor grandma can be approved, as long as they can convince the CO they won't need to work to support themselves.

I agree that there is no magic amount. The CEO of Cherry Mobile company was denied a US visa while a hotel worker who simultaneously was present in the embassy with me cried in the bathroom because she was given a tourist visa. This is just to give her an idea because this is based on my experience and followed some simple suggestions to my advantage.

Completely wrong, you can apply as soon as you like. You're not likely to get any different answer but there's no time limit to reapplying. The Us government is always willing to accept more of your money.

True, you can apply as soon as you like. Make sure that you will not give the consul the idea that you applied "too soon" to overcome your red flags, so 6 months is a safe timeframe (although I've read in the blue paper before when I was denied that there is 6 months reapplication time, if my memory serves me right).

  10. Hi!

I feel your pain. I am from the Philippines as well and was once denied a tourist visa to see my then fiance in the US. Although I re-applied on a different visa and now living here in the US, I will share my thoughts to you since I did my parents' B1/B2 visa and they successfully have it and now, I'm planning to process my brother's visa as well, which have the same case as yours.

My brother is also single and in the working age that defines a red flag with the immigration officials. When applying for a tourist visa, they judge you as an individual and your capacity to fund your own trip. Hence, they want to see that you have strong ties to go back in Phils. The embassy already tagged all Filipino tourist visa applicants as "intending immigrants" and it's up to you to prove that you're not. When you say you're a nurse and your aunt is financing your trip, those were already red flags. So these are what I'm advising my brother to do (per our situation and see if these might help you as well):

    1. Show at least P200k in his bank accounts. I've read before that this is the minimum amount you need to show as bank money although someone says P50k is enough. You can have a single or joint accounts or both accumulating this. In our case, I'm asking my brother to save up his own money on his own name. Good thing he has joint accounts with our parents opened years before.

    2. Gather documents showing his name on properties and businesses.

    3. The longest he can only stay for his first time visit is 1 month. Since this is his first time to visit, 1 month is long enough. Don't go longer for that since it will make the consul nervous. 2 weeks is even better! This is just to secure yourself a visa because you are still employed. Nobody gives a 2-3 months vacation leave unless it is called for.

For my parents, I put 2 weeks in their intended length of stay and now they have a 10 year multiple entry visa. They can come and go as they please and stay up to 6 months each time.

    4. Show that you have a stable employment or business and will be coming back after a specified time frame.

    5. Make an itinerary of your trip. You are applying as a tourist, hence you will be touring the US and spend money just to see Disneyland Florida or the Statue of Liberty or Washington, DC.

The sooner you can apply is 6 months but you have to make sure to overcome the red flags. I have other advices as well, but I think these are helpful enough. :) Good luck.

    Thank you.

It happened to us when my fiance filed for my K1 visa. After a call we found out that our application never made it to USCIS. It got lost somewhere between Atlanta and Chicago. That's why I am nervous. I don't want that happen again. But we are prepared if we have to send the documents again.

Oh, that's a bummer. Sorry to hear that. I didn't know that it could happen. Thank you for giving me a heads up to guard our papers and make sure to have a NOA within a month. That's really nerve-wracking. Now I'm nervous too, lol!

    Hey,

I am in the same situation.

Got a call from USCIS yesterday and apparently there is a backlog at the Chicago lockbox facility. I was told to wait until 30 days have passed and that I should call USCIS on day 30 (March 21st for the both of us) if we haven't received any NOA1s by March 21st.

We just have to wait a little longer but hopefully we will get our NOA1s soon.

Thank you very much, Becci. I, somehow, breathed a sigh of relief. I'll take note of your advice and will call them on 21st, on the dot. :D Good luck to you too!

  13. Hello to all February filers!

I just want to know if I should start worrying already. We sent our I-485 (AOS based on marriage) and I-765 (EAD) on February 24 and USPS tracking number said the Chicago lockbox received it the next day, Feb. 25. But until now, I haven't heard anything from USCIS still. We also sent an e-notif form. I read here that some got notifications from USCIS as early as three days. It is now almost three weeks without anything from them. I sent an email to their lockbox support to check but they said they will reply (if ever) within 15 days. Our check hasn't been cashed out as well.

I was wondering if the state where you filed from influence when they will process the papers. I am from California adjusting my status from a K1 visa. Is there someone who has similar experience with me? I appreciate all helpful advices. Thank you.
