Most who have gone through the AOS using their DS-3025 don't have a problem. I suspect you won't as those who have had problems with medical know it before they land in the states and take the necessary steps to complete once they arrive.  Stop worrying. You're going to be fine.

Once you're in the states it is VERY VERY rare that you don't pass your AOS and Permanent GC.  As long as you can prove that the two of you are a couple with an eye toward co-mingling your household then there are no worry.  The hardest part of this is getting your visa. Now most of it is submit the paperwork and wait for your approval.

By the way. The OP hasn't been on VJ since December 20, 2016 so I doubt they will answer your questions.

Thank you so much for the kind words and answer! I totally need that to calm my jitters.

  2. May I follow up with the OP about this? How did it turn out for you? My DS 3025 doesn't have any box checked as well on the Summary and St. Luke's also gave me three shots last year with dates. We filed our AOS last February and we took a risk on the RFE. So far, we haven't received an RFE and we are now scheduled to have our interview on September 12. I am now worried that they will give us an RFE on our interview date because of the incomplete DS-3025.

  3. Yes, you can wear a watch but for the handbag, it's much better if she'll have a companion to wait and look after her belongings outside the embassy. The things I brought inside were an envelope and clearbook full of my documents and evidences, a pen and money on one pocket and a lipstick on my other pocket, lol! Definitely no electronics of any type. Even a small usb will be a huge hassle if you bring one. My mom waited for me outside with my belongings at the time of my interview. Good luck!

    1. It took me a less than three weeks from the time I started looking for a job.  I went to a job fair and happened to talk to one of the recruiters whose bf works for a company where she thinks I can be a great fit.  She gave me the email address for the HR and in two weeks, I got an interview and started working the next week as a Health Physics Technician. I'm working my way to become a Health Physicist.

    2. I'm a licensed Radiologic Technologist back home.  Getting a license to practice my profession here meant that I would go back to school, which I didn't want to do. (I don't want to have a student loan) I'm still dealing with radiation so it works for me.

    3. I'm from the Philippines.

    4. I'm currently in Virginia, moving to Chicago soon.

I didn't have high expectations when I went to the job fair.  I applied to become a bank teller and a caregiver in that same job fair.  I got offered the jobs but had to turn them down because what I'm doing right now is the closest (and a step up) from what I used to do.

I'm also a licensed Radiologic Technologist in the Philippines and I stumbled upon this post because I am also looking for a job at this point. Question though: Did you undergo a background check as a pre-employment requirement?

  5. Hello,

I acquired a job offer from a well-known logistics company thru OfficeTeam (Robert Half) last August 3. They said that a background check is needed for compliance. The 3rd party company who will conduct the intl bg check is GIS. I called them and ask how long it will take and they said it will take a month to process and complete the check! I am worried that the job offer I received will be cancelled due to this delay. Does anybody have the same experience?

Also, will it be possible if I suggest that maybe I can start working already and the bg check will follow? Though I have nothing to hide, the wait time is deeply frustrating.

Wow...okay, we filed from Los Angeles where we live and USCIS received our application on February 14, 2017. I just got an email notification this morning that interview is scheduled for August 23.

That gave me hope. We are in LA too and file last Feb. 27. Since Apr. 28, our case is ready to be scheduled for an interview. Since you filed last Feb. 14, I am hoping that I will also hear an update by next week. Things are slowly moving along. Congratulations, btw.

Thank you so much. Everything is now falling into place slowly but surely. Hopefully my EAD will arrive today by mail. Have a blessed weekend too!

    Are they backlogged again????

I would love to write applications and also to tell people that I can legally work in the US. I get turned down because of not having my work permit yet...

I guess so. Although the processing time says Feb 27, I know you filed a few days earlier than me, so I'm thinking they still have mounds of paperwork from earlier dates. Hang in there. Soon we will all be complaining how tiring our jobs are. :D

After 98 days waiting for my EAD a new card is being produced.

And my I-485 is ready to be scheduled since 7th of April.

Congratulations! Did you do a service request or this schedule is purely organic? I'm on Day 91 (received date was Feb 27) and they are now processing the Feb 23 ones. Hoping to get my EAD soon as well as I am getting bored out of my wits. :D

  10. I'm crossing my fingers for you. I went with the same situation. I applied for a tourist visa back then to visit my then bf now hubby. I had strong ties like you mentioned but no travel history. First part of my interview went well. The consul asked enthusiastically about my business, job, salary, etc. However, when he asked the reason for my trip and told him it's to visit my bf, his voice and facial expression changed. Then, I was handed the dreaded blue rejection letter with no further statements, stating I don't have strong ties.

That denial was a silver lining, though, when we filed for a K1 visa. My interview was done in 5 minutes, perhaps seeing the reason for my denial before. Let us know how it went for her. Good luck!

    Finally some good news!

Our case was scheduled for an interview June 20th (field office: Chicago, IL). The case tracker skipped the "Case Is Ready To Be Scheduled For An Interview" phase and just went straight to interview scheduled.

Still no updates on EAD or AP, but that won't really matter unless we don't get approved on the spot.

Congratulations! Did your case tracker show the date of your interview or you received a mail from them? Ours is still stuck in the Case Is Ready To Be Scheduled For An Interview and thought I might just get a mail with the interview date. Also, did you file a service request for your EAD prior to your updated AOS? Not that it matters now since you have an interview date set. :)

Good luck on the interview and let us know of your experience.

I just got notice that my interview for AOS is scheduled for June 15 2017. How long does it take from the day of the interview and, approval till the time you have card in hand.

    Thanks in advance

Congrats! May I ask when did you file AOS and your NOA1 date? Your timeline isn't set up. Thanks!

I am also waiting for an interview date. My status still says case is ready to be scheduled for an interview. How long did you wait from this status to actually receive an interview date?

  13. Just want to share this: A friend of mine who entered on a K1 visa on August 2016 and filed on December 2016 will receive her green card this month. That's just almost 6 months processing. She didn't expedite anything and she's in San Diego. They went on a 30-45 min interview and advised to remember all the dates like wedding, birthdays, the date you entered the US, etc. Lucky gal! Fingers crossed for everyone.

From what I can read on the time line is that a service request was submitted after 77 days without expediting the EAD and that the EAD was in the mail after 93 days.

It took 93 days. I raised one service request on day 77. No expedition though.

Got it! I'll probably try to wait until 90 days before I make a service request. No rush on my end. Let's see if they will definitely process the EAD within 90 days, like a control-variable experiment.
