Go over the I-485 and G325. Almost all questions came from those. I got his mom's last name wrong (forgot she recently changed it). He did not know my middle name. The IO would not let it go and asked 3x. He couldn't remember our zip code. He didn't know the name of my son's high school.
The interview didn't get off to a very good start because for some reason, when I/O came into the waiting room and called my husbands name, my husband just got up and walked through the waiting room into the hallway to the offices and left me in the waiting room packing up all the envelopes and stacks of paper we had brought. The I/O kind of gave me a funny look. I think my husband was just nervous and anxious to get it over with but the IO definitely noticed that he didn't look back to even see if I was behind him Lol. My husband doesn't ever act like that. I know he was just nervous. Afterward he apologized. I was like ok Donald Trump 😂
We didn't get approved on the spot the I/O said he had to look it over. But it just updated in the case tracker to approved!
He went through our wedding pictures and asked for marriage evidence. The only thing I had were seven months of bank statements in both of our names, evidence of him listed on my medical insurance, and him listed as a beneficiary on my pension. He seemed impressed that some of my husbands family were at the wedding and that I had visited him 7x during our K1 process.
No wonder you were nervous! Thanks for letting us know again and congratulations!!!!

Had our I-485 interview yesterday. It was not fun. Didn't think we did well but our case status just updated to approved! Thank God! On the way home from the interview my husband got a call from one of the jobs he applied for and started work today.
Finallly, we can rest easy and take a much needed immigration break!!
Good Luck to you all!
Congratulations! What kind of questions did they ask you to make you worry?
Thanks for sharing.

Three Myths the Adjustment of Status Process by USCIS:
Release Date: May 17, 2012
In reading some of the online immigration forums, we have noticed that there are a few myths on the internet about the adjustment of status, also known as the Green Card process. We hope this post helps to clear up any confusion you have about the process of getting your Green Card.
Myth # 1
USCIS must make a decision on your Green Card application (Form I-485) within 180 days after your interview.
There is no time limit on when USCIS must make a decision after an interview on an adjustment of status case. In fact, not all Form I-485 adjudications require an interview. This misconception may arise from the fact that USCIS has up to 120 days from the date of an applicant’s naturalization interview - not an interview for adjustment of status - to make a final decision on the applicant’s Form N-400. Even though there is no time limit to make a decision on an application for a Green Card, USCIS strives to adjudicate these cases within four months.
Myth # 2
You will get a decision on your Green Card application at the interview.
Often an applicant will not receive a decision on his or her adjustment of status application at the interview. Sometimes the Immigration Services Officer needs additional time to review a case and cannot provide the applicant with an immediate decision. This is especially true if additional information is requested at an interview or if additional documents are submitted at the time of the interview. There are a number of other reasons why a decision cannot be made at the interview, such as having to wait for a visa number to become available, or the need to complete security checks.
Myth # 3
In marriage-based adjustment of status cases, a wife must take her husband’s last name.
A married woman may choose a legal married name (take her husband’s surname), a legal pre-marriage name (keep her maiden name), or any form of either (for example, hyphenated name, maiden name and husband’s surname). USCIS does not require a female applicant to take her husband’s last name.
If permitted by law, a man can also take his wife’s surname, adopt a hyphenated combination of his name and his wife’s surname, or the couple may choose a hybrid of their surnames.
Thank you so much letting me know:)
You are awesome!!

I doubt they are prejudiced to people who don't take their spouses name. I didn't take my husband's name either and my EAD took so long too but I don't think anyone knows exactly why EADs take time with some cases. I'm sure a last name is not the reason though.
Thanks for warm reply! Hope you also have fast process:)

Hey guys, I went to infopass because of late combo card finally. (I called SR twice) I'm not sure if visiting there helps or not.
When I went there, uscis employee asked to me why I didn't follow my husband's last name staring my case papers through a computer, so I answered that my passport is still valid ,and I don't want to make complicated situation when I travel. Then, he asked to me if I am going to be a US citizen. I said that "I'm not sure yet." Then, he told me that you need to wait a while. I also asked what is the reason, but he didn't tell me. Then, he said he just sent a mail to NBC office for requesting your case.
While I came back to home, I was feeling desperate and confused since I couldn't get exact answer from them. I can't understand why my i765 takes so long time. A lot of people who filed after me already got EAD. I even didn't get RFE. Do you think the reason my EAD card has been late is not following my husband's last name? I have a few age gap with my husband's, but our marriage is real not fake!

We tried it on a couple of different days on laptop and smartphones and did not see the option for 765.
Yes... that's so weird, so calling and going infopass are the only option, right?? I actually inquired SR twice, and today is 125days so I made an appointment of infopass to know what's going on.
-
Hey guys when you make e-request for i765, where can you find "i765" in the selection of form? I can see everything except I765 as I drop it down.

When you guys made SR to National Benefit Center's customer service, do you guys also wait term which is 30 days between one SR call and second or third call?
I didn't get any RFE, RFIE and I've already make 2 SR call. Today is 115 days, I'm going CRAZY!
my last SR call's reply was March 2nd, so I just tried to one more SR call, but the woman who called with me said if I want to make another SR call, I need to wait another 30day.
I'm depressed.... : ( That mail simply said "Your case is currently under review. You should receive a decision or notice of other action shortly.
How long "Shortly" is for USCIS"? ack!
Btw, I saw the last time, I could also made SR the e-request, but it doesn't show anymore. Do you know how to make E-REQUEST for I765?
Thanks in advance, and congrats above people!!

I've been wondering this aswell... The USCIS app counts from days since received, but different opinions sometimes
So.. If I want to request for SR (over 75 days) , should we count the day from "RECEIVED DATE"?
-
Hey guys, how's going?
I just have a quick question.
1. When you count your days, do you start to count from "RECEIVED DATE" or "NOTICE DATE"? Both dates are in your NOA.
2. If I count my days from "RECEIVED DATE", today is 76 days. My received date is Nov 16,2016.
I'm waiting for my EAD card, but when I saw this "https://www.uscis.gov/forms/tip-sheet-employment-authorization-applications-pending-more-75-days",
I'm little bit hesitated now to call, do you think should I call?
Thanks in ahead!

Questions related N-400 proof documents / sincere marriage during ESTA, would this be problem for the interview?
in US Citizenship General Discussion
Posted · Edited by lavita_1234
Hi guys, I have questions related N-400 proof documents. I'm filing N-400 based on the marriage.
1. For submitting the proof of required and volunteer documents for N-400, which is better to submit between one big files gathering all the proof or individual files?
2. Which files are good to submit to proof of my marriage besides required documents(like copy of green card, tax return etc.) for N-400? Should I prepare the document of proof as much as preparing for the green card?
3. For bank statement, should I submit during all 3 years of marriage? or just recent ones?
Also, my marriage is sincere, but we got married while I came to the US with ESTA (we met and had a relationship outside of the U.S), would this be a problem to interview for N-400?
Thank you!
