  1. It's absolutely bizarre....so the embassy in Georgia just doesn't provide US passport services to US ciitzens? She should be able to get it from any embassy with US Citizen Services. She has the CRBA now so I do not see what the problem is. Chances of getting a B visa for your wife are extremely low. Also in terms of where she can even apply for one, it's a huge issue. Basically the only way to do it right now is go via some third party visa application service in Russia who can secure an interview at a US consulate who is accepting non-resident applicants. The wait times can be very long, from months to years. It's simply a game of comparing strong ties to Russia versus strong ties to the US. She has a husband and a child who are US citizens, that's pretty hard to overcome. There's really nothing you can do here except have her go and interview and see what happens. Expect a denial under 214(b).
  2. Absolutely amazing, will definitely have to look into this! Our other option here is Turkish which isn't bad but it's technically longer to fly there.
  3. Really curious about the Air Serbia from Chicago route. Does anyone know when that is starting?
  4. Right, that is frustrating. My GE fridge (side by side) is doing well so far...so good. The LED light in the freezer dimmed out and it started flickering even after they replaced it, they're coming Friday to assess. I complained so they waived the fee since the warranty was over. I feel dumb for not getting the extended warranty now. Good on Coscto to give you a refund. Yes, that was my concern. GE kept spamming me to buy the extended warranty but it was via a 3rd party service. I'm just hoping now that GE has added a concession on my warranty that these will be the last issues for a while.
  5. I was talking to my sister and she normally buys new appliances and then gets the additional repair warranty (5 years I think?) that's offered by the appliance store. Annoying to have to spend more up front, but maybe worth it?
  6. Clearly, but I assume the Ambassador knows that's her job. She can't just show up and demand stuff without bringing something to the table. The last few ambassadors have been so bad it seems anyone will be an improvement.
  7. Wasn't Covid still a thing last year though and thus an excuse for nothing getting done? Now that Covid is over, maybe there will be some change, let's see what happens...
  8. Update on the home appliances front: so turns out my dryer drum has a crack in it. And this is a brand new GE dryer that we bought last year in October. Dryer kept making a "duh DUM...duh DUM..duh DUM" noise every time it rotated (even if you turned it by hand), called a repair guy. He told me to check for stuck zippers or something innocuous like that, we did that, nothing. Then he finally came out and after careful inspection, turns out there's about a 1" crack behind one of the wings (bump things that stick out from the drum.) You can see it perfectly fine with the naked eye, but only if you know to look for it. Repair guy suggested I call the appliance store I bought it from. I called them and due to holidays, it was a bit slow but they contacted GE on my behalf and turns out GE is doing a concession on the warranty. Should be sending out a guy here to repair it tomorrow. So frustrating, clearly the crack was there for ages but it just got worse with time until it started making such a loud rhythmic banging noise, you knew something was off. Just wanted to post here in case anyone ever has this issue. Always check for cracks in the drum. It's rare but happens! Just unusual for it to happen to a newly new machine. 🙄
  9. This could be promising as there is talk about getting the Moscow Embassy up and running again. Would be a game changer for everyone if true.
  10. WASHINGTON, January 4. /TASS/. Lynne Tracy, the new US Ambassador to Russia, will arrive in Moscow in coming days, Spokesman of the US Department of State Ned Price said at the briefing. "She was just confirmed last year. The ambassador very much looks forward to moving to her post in Moscow," Price said. "She is someone who knows the bilateral relationship as well, if not better, than anyone. We look forward to having her in place, because it is important to have ambassadors representing the US around the world," he noted. "It is especially important in case of Russia, where we maintain the channels of communication," Price added. Read more here: https://tass.com/russia/1558837
  11. Pretty much this. My husband opted to use his as the legal middle name here and has had no issues, but it's basically a choice. Nobody will force you to put down anything under "middle name" anywhere since technically it isn't one.
  12. **Moved from Bringing Family Members of US Citizens to America to RUB regional forum; question is culture specific** It's totally fine to put it under "other names used" since it is technically part of the name.

  17. The person I spoke to who managed it says he merely wrote a letter and they approved it. I'm curious what he put in the letter. If I get more details, I'll let you know. This was the other option the guy who got the Serbia transfer considered. It seems like Jerusalem might be the new go-to for Russians looking to transfer.

  19. I've been hearing more success stories about transfers. Someone else I talked with successfully got their case transferred to Serbia, all they had to do was contact them embassy.
