  1. Really recommend working with a recruiter. You can try to message them yourself on LinkedIn, there are so many out there. There might also be recruiters/staffing agencies in your city you can contact.
  2. I would assume it is since it's an official residence but probably good to check in with the embassy.
  3. Last I heard, Serbia is not accepting non-resident Russians. They mean legally, i.e. has actual residency. Doing visa runs on a temp stay status does not count as "living" in a place legally. This is in line with my previous statement. They don't seem to be taking non-residents. Having legal residency in Serbia would indicate she can interview there. K-1's are treated the same as immigrant visas in terms of the interview.
  4. That sounds about right. I hope the ones with families especially will find a way, sounds like quite a hellish journey. A loss for Russia for sure.
  5. I'm really glad to hear your case got moving. How strange that some people can schedule themselves while others cannot. Best of luck getting the visa!
  6. Ah, got it! Interesting that you can send stuff out but not in. I think if books can go out, pretty much anything can. Weird. Do you know if her book shipment went via USPS once it got to the States?
  7. @mendeleev said that there's a service that will ship books to Russia. I think there is some small private company that will ship US to Russia but I don't know any details or have personal experience with it.
  8. There might be the issue of the name on the tickets matching the name on her passport. Call the airline in advance to double check. It's usually a security thing that the boarding pass and passport have to match.
  9. Update: dryer drum has been replaced and everything seems to be working again. I'm glad at least GE honored the expired warranty and repaired it for no cost. Seems less greedy than some other brands.
  10. @slavaskii would be able to give advice for Belarusians.
  11. Apparently Serbia is no longer accepting Russians for immigrant visas.
  12. Ugh what an annoyance. I guess FYI to everyone not to bother with Spanish Schengen visas.
  13. How was the border crossing on the bus? I did that once and the border was horribly slow. Wondering if that's still the case. Also: was this a large comfy charter style bus or a cramped minibus?
  14. The "do not travel" thing has been there ever since the US embassy in Moscow stopped being functional for US citizens. Basically in some emergency freak scenario, the embassy may not be able to provide you with consular assistance....that's basically the only drawback to visiting Russia as a US citizen.
  15. That is crazy. Apparently the DoS just moved IR-5 visas to Almaty so if that's the case, it's not good news. I just wish the Moscow Embassy would open again already.

  21. That is really intriguing. Almaty certainly makes so much more sense for Russians so this would be a welcome development for many.
