    He just keeps playing his role and reading his lines like the actor he is. He's doing all he can in that sense. They need air cover but it's basically impossible for them to get it is my understanding. They lack equipment and trained men. F-16's are not going to give them the air dominance they need, will just help a bit. Obviously it's better than nothing but will it be enough? Probably not. The mine clearing ops are extremely difficult under enemy fire. It's definitely not going as well as they would like. I don't think it's a complete failure in that they have not given up, but they have not gone beyond the 1st defensive line (so I last heard.)

    UNHCR has a specific page for Ukrainians in Russia, might be the best bet to contact about this situation: https://help.unhcr.org/russia/ukrrefugeesinru/ I don't know how much they can help but if Russia is the only place she can go at least it makes sense to find out if they can connect her to someone.

    Russia has direct flights to Turkey and Kazakhstan. Maybe she could look into renewing her passport in one of those countries.

    Would she be able to board an airplane and presumably transit via other airports with an expired passport? I agree with @randomstairs that going to Russia seems pointless here. No direct flights out, no Ukrainian embassy there. Best bet seems to be to exit Ukraine into a neighboring country and go from there.

    Weird but small bug: the text in the Emigrating Outside the US forum shows up as black (not grey) even though I have it marked as read.

    Can she go to another country and just renew her Ukrainian passport there? I doubt she will be able to board an international flight anywhere with an expired passport.

    Very minor nitpick: the menu at the top is now bold, but when you click on Portal, Guides or any of the others, the menu isn't bold.

    The thing is they signed the treaty that they wouldn't do it. Russia and the US also use them apparently, but neither signed the treaty. While Ukraine is violating the treaty, I mean it's not like anything else has been gentlemanly about this war on either side. Filming POW's and all other kind of Geneva Convention violations abound, the rulebook got thrown out ages ago.

    Rant sidenote: Really annoying that the border is still basically open (hence buses) but the Finnish government cannibalised and sold off their train components. Not only did they stop the train, they made sure the train will never come back.
