Agree with the others, there's no reason to file the I-751 here. I-551 stamps until the correct 10 year card arrives is the thing to do. The I-551 basically is your GC while you're waiting for the I-90 replacement physical card to arrive, so yes it supersedes the old erroneous card. I would just ignore the old card (I'm surprized they did not ask you to send it in actually with the I-90?) and use her passport/stamp for work/travel/proof of status until the new GC arrives. Keep her old erroneous 2 year card as USCIS will most likely ask you to send it in to complete the I-90 process at some point.

How long ago did she do that? K-3's have been rendered obsolete for a while now, they are almost never issued anymore. If you file a K-3, they'll just close it out and switch it to a spousal visa application. That's wrong, there's no process where you can submit the petition and then wait it out inside the US for a visa. There is adjustment of status for people who are already inside the US and then decide to change their status via marriage. In both cases, married or not (K-1 or spousal visa), you'll have to wait for your visa to process before you can permanently move to the US. It's unfortunate but it's just the way things are with US immigration for spouses/fiances. There are pros and cons to K-1 vs spousal visa. I will tag @Crazy Cat so he can share the breakdown for that.

Steps for Permanent residence
millefleur replied to Caesar15's topic in General Immigration-Related Discussion
People change/connect flights at major international airports and go through the Port of Entry there at the border, not everyone has a direct flight to their home state. It's very common that most people enter one state's POE and then travel onward from there to their final destination. -
The naked trees used to be preferred when people used real candles as decorations. In Austria and Germany, it's still popular, hence you still see the naked, spindly trees there. I learned they don't keep the candles lit very long, usually just something you do for a few minutes while everyone is near the tree to create the ambience effect.

I've changed email addresses over the years since my old ones became spam magnets. This is a helpful site to check if your email has been involved in a data breach: https://haveibeenpwned.com/ -
CR1 or K1 visa
millefleur replied to J0hann's topic in What Visa Do I Need - Family Based Immigration
Not really in terms of drastic difference. The main bottleneck of waiting is USCIS and then the NVC, the embassy doesn't affect wait time that much. The only truly faster option is DCF for US citizens who are currently living abroad, but you need "exceptional circumstances" to qualify such as a short notice job offer relocation. -

Estonia police clearance certificate
millefleur replied to Zongkeh's topic in National Visa Center (Dept of State)
Unfortunately I don't know other than what the DoS site says. It says certified copies are available, have you tried getting one of those? -
Wanted to update this: we finally got around to completing it! So it was actually easier than I thought: you don't need the Apostille from USCIS or any federal government agency relating to immigration, you just need to get the Apostille from the federal district court in your state. We hired an Apostille service for ours and the turnaround time was very fast. Obtaining the Apostille and translation only took 1 week. You can probably do it yourself as well, just contact the district court who did your name change, the same one listed on your N-662.

Is angel on top of the tree a British thing? Oddly that's what we did in my childhood, suspect my mom found a nice one at some shop somewhere and that's how we ended up with it.

The old adage applies: Don't ever book flights until the visa is in hand. Not sure how it works with B visas, but we've seen cases of ESTA being revoked here and the person didn't know until they applied and got rejected.

I talked with another friend and apparently these "gift card scammers" are very common. They got her dad, who also struggled with cognitive issues, had him running all over town buying gift cards. I never buy gift cards (I don't know anyone who does either) so this is all very baffling to me. I don't even know how the scammers are using the gift cards, I assume some of them must work like cash. https://consumer.ftc.gov/articles/avoiding-and-reporting-gift-card-scams -

As an American English native speaker, even I need a translation of this stuff. I have no clue what most of it is! Lemon cordial is a beverage?
