    She cannot enter on a tourist visa and adjust status. That is fraud. She needs to be petitioned for a CR-1 or K-1 visa. Generally, the CR-1 is best, but if her children are young and she wants to bring them, the K-1 might make sense. Maybe the Cat will come along and add his helpful comparison. @Crazy Cat

    Right! I often add the word Reddit to Goog searches when looking for anecdotal info on a variety of topics.

    One thing I’ve learned from both Reddit and VJ is that immigration lawyers, while maybe not deliberately telling their clients to do things wrong, often do. The common denominator here is money. There is money to be made when errors happen and cases are drawn out….. This is why anyone with an average reading comprehension skill set should DIY their straightforward case, i.e. no one cares more about your case than you do.

    Right, it's a big consideration for anyone contemplating bringing elderly parents here. I would start doing some math. Luckily, you have several years to plan.

    She can’t come in on VWP/B visa with the intent to adjust status. When you’re a citizen, you can petition her for an immigrant visa (leads to a GC- no need for EAD). Hopefully she/you have significant financial resources to pay for her health insurance.

    You should seek better and more accurate info than "a guy once told me." It will be many, many years before your brother can come to the US. Up to 30 years, so file the petition and then forget about it.

    I don't see how it would make a difference, as there is no 'reset' with a new fiscal year since those visa classes are not numerically limited. It's not a matter of caring. It's a matter of huge numbers of applicants for your consulate.

    She wants to immigrate, therefore the F-1 is not an appropriate visa. I don't see any basis for an expedite. Expediting because you don't want to wait the designated processing time is not possible. Expediting F2A and other numerically limited visas is not possible. Seems like you're grasping at straws for a way around the current processing times and available visa types. Waiting and following the rules is just part of US immigration. If that doesn't work for you, another option would be to move back to Nigeria.

    This is absolutely incorrect. My husband has not filed an N-400, and his I-751 was approved after 18 months. No interview, no RFEs. He originally adjusted from a K-1.

    OP, your biggest issue will be with the consular interview (vs CBP). India has a history of misuse/fraud for the K-1, precisely because historically it was much faster, so married people tried to go that route to "be together asap." As in every aspect of US immigration, we are impacted by the actions of our fellow countrymen who went before us. Since you can't prove a negative (i.e that you are not married), it could go either way at the interview, IMHO.
