    Nope, you'll need a certified copy of a marriage certificate to file. Check Michigan's DMV for details on getting a driver's license. Note: in some states, you can't get one until you have an actual green card. I'm not sure about Michigan. In my opinion, the first thing to do when you land (and before marrying) is to apply for the SSN.

    They absolutely can. If asked outright whether you're coming in to marry, do not lie.

    Don't forget that USCIS is notorious for failure to properly update statuses. There have been VJ members whose status has remained at "interview was scheduled" long after they received their card. Honestly, I think you're fine.

    And my $0.02: I still find it strange. If my spouse had not been able to come here, I would have gone to NZ. I personally wouldn't want to remain in a relationship where "economic advantage" was the primary focus, and my partner didn't want to continue if he couldn't come to the US. I also find arranged marriages/cousin marriages strange. There are certainly ways to better one's situation in life, besides marriage.

    Your leg is not used in gathering biometrics. There are no toe prints required. Please do not use resources you don't need. Some folks out there are really homebound due to disability and need those resources.

    I think you will need to marry and spend more time together, and then petition for a CR-1 visa. Unfortunately when you're dealing with high-risk high-fraud consulates, your burden of proof is much higher.

    Eligibility to sponsor is not based on length of work history. Have you read the guides/forms?

    I would be very surprised if they would do this. Wearing a cast for a broken leg is not a long-term disability that prohibits you from attending appointments.

    Not sure why you're so worried. It's only been a week, and sounds like you won't be traveling for >one month? Do you have USPS Informed Delivery? If not, I recommend it. It is normal for it to take a couple of weeks to receive a new card.

    “Severe financial loss to a person” is pretty vague. A similarly vague answer (since you gave no details at all) is that you will need to craft a well-written letter explaining the situation, and include any supporting documentation you have as evidence. Maybe using a better subject for your thread would clarify what it is about?

    Transferring cases to even out workloads is normal, and something USCIS does all the time. Not sure I understand the connection between transferring and requesting an expedite? Because that not grounds for one. If you have legitimate and documented evidence of the need for an expedite of the petition part of the process, you can submit it of course, anyone is free to do so.

    Another thing I’ve noticed over the years, which I find super interesting, is that a lot of these marriages win’t be happening once the U.S. green card is off the table…..🤔

    It was revoked because they think it’s a green card marriage. You may need to move to Nigeria and create a marriage that looks legit if you ever want him to immigrate. Are you a lot older than him?

    She can’t stay and adjust status if they marry- that is only for spouses of US citizens. And- there isn’t anything for you to file in this case, either. He should probably join VJ and look into it.
