  1. I don't see any exceptional circumstances which would allow for DCF. You will need to file for consular processing. I think your timeline is reasonable, and I wouldn't expect any issues returning. You will want to make sure that you are all up to date on taxes.
  2. Do you have a compelling reason to expedite? Job lined up back home? You will need a real reason with documentation as to the need.
  3. One angle to approach this would be that regardless of whether the kids move to the US, if they are in fact USCs, they have the right to have US passports. Norway allows for dual citizenship, right? It is in everyone's best interest for them to have both if they can. Also, if he does move back to the US, it benefits him if they're there too, right?
  4. If they are US citizens, they are not eligible for visas. As uncomfortable as it may be, you have no choice but to confirm their citizenship first. If the ex remains in Norway, he will also need to be involved in you being legally allowed to take the kids out of the country.
  5. So will you cross into the US via land border, or fly in from the Canadian airport?
  6. Why do you want to fly into Canada, instead of into the US? Seems an unnecessary expense/step if you are only going to fly out a few hours later. German citizens do not need anyway.
  7. Most people add their spouses to an employer-based plan. I recommend you look for a job offering health insurance. Being on your parents' insurance as a married adult does not make sense.
  8. The immigrant visa will be valid for 6 months following the medical. Visiting the US ever 6-9 months is not adequate for LPRs. Sounds like you do not plan to live in the US as an LPR anytime soon? Perhaps delay the process until you are ready.
  9. You can book a one way-ticket on your fiancé’s return flight. You will not go through US immigration if you fly into Canada. You will obviously go through Canadian immigration. Some Canadian airports have what is knows as “pre-clearance,” which is just like going through US customs and immigration, but it is pre-flight. If the flight from Canada to the US departs from a pre/clearance airport, your K-1 will be processed at that time. Otherwise, it will be processed when your flight to the US arrives.
  10. No one can tell you how long it will take. Could be months or years.
  11. Just get married and have the USC petition you for a spousal visa. K-1s are not a “try it out,” and I expect they’ll question your intent to marry after doing that.
  12. Withdrawing sponsorship is not a form of abuse in and of itself.
  13. This is a good idea. And, I believe filing the 129F in this situation is still free. Please let us know how you go!
  14. Totally agree. Those programs are there to be used by people who need them.
  15. Thank you for coming through when I was far too lazy to google it! 😅
  16. I think you are fine. I'm trying to think of someone to tag who will know for sure..... @Redro maybe?
  17. Ah, I see. So they would only send it if no decision could be made on the N400? Still doesn't make sense that nothing would happen for six months.
  18. The children (USCs, right?) are definitely eligible for SNAP. They may also be eligible for WIC, have you looked into that? I will let others address the other part of your question, but I don't believe food assistance is included in the umbrella of means-tested benefits.
  19. Why would you need to contact either? You have no part of anyone else's application for a B visa.
  20. You seem confused. Are you married? Are you planning to petition the beneficiary for a spousal visa, or for a fiancee visa? There is no letter of intent for a spousal petition.
  21. Why? They can't push your application ahead of the others who sent theirs first. Unfortunately it is a well known delay caused by not filling out the forms correctly.
  22. Your case will be scrutinized due to the circumstances and country. There is nothing you can do to speed it along.
