  1. US senators and reps have assistants who can make inquiries on behalf of their constituents, to federal agencies. They usually have a link on their website, often with a permission form that you sign. It isn’t a magic fix. They often get the same info available to you, like “this case is in administrative processing due to background checks.” Etc.
  2. You were rightly denied. B-1/B-2 is NOT for ‘relocating’ to the U.S.
  3. A person of her age would not qualify for an au pair visa.
  4. It’s not something you can request. And I’m not sure any visa waivers would ever be done for certain countries.
  5. The USC parent needs to file for their CRBAs.
  6. “Past due”? Heh. Sorry, that VJ “estimate” has no bearing on reality. Do not make an inquiry until the date published by USCIS.
  7. The response CLEARLY states the expected timeline for call backs.
  8. Everyone on VJ has had to wait long periods for nearly every step of the process.
  9. Did you send an actual legal certified copy of marriage certificate, or did you send the commemorative one sometimes given out by wedding venues or officiants?
  10. It will be picked up. I have never heard of a lockbox item being returned to sender because it wasn't "picked up."
  11. Not eligible for a K-4. If your expedite requests have been denied (as they will, if the reason is just that you’re tired of waiting), there really isn’t anything else that you can do.
  12. If he’s unwilling to pay for legal counsel, at the very least ask him to join VJ. He’s clearly ill-prepared. It’s not just a matter of “filling in forms.”
  13. So your stepparent allowed all this time to elapse without doing anything at all? SSN has no bearing on it whatsoever. Your stepparent absolutely needs a lawyer.
  14. And also OP- ultimately, your husband is 100% responsible for the content of what he submits.
  15. Exactly. And with the type of salary she would be able to earn (assuming she would work in housekeeping/ home health aid/retail), the social security earnings would not be enough to live on.
  16. You need a plan B, as in moving to his country. I think him getting an immigrant visa is unlikely.
  17. You'll want to research this very, very carefully. She will not be eligible for any type of Medicare or social security, and you will be signing a document agreeing that she will not try to get means-tested benefits. Health care premiums will cost you several thousands of dollars per month.
