    Not shockingly. Unlike F2A, are no derivatives for IR visas. Naturalizing changed the visa category.

    99.9% of I-129F petitions are processed at the California Service Center. Yours is not at Texas.

    Except for K-1s. Supporting documentation, as requested in packet 3, are sent or brought directly to the consulate.

    So, who is the hardship for? The premise of waivers for immigrant visas is hardship to a USC or LPR. I suppose one could frame a tourist waiver hardship as applying to Mickey Mouse, if the tourist cannot visit Disneyland.

    No. Pregnancy is not a valid reason to expedite any part of the process. There is even a pinned post about that here on VJ.

    Why? That is not relevant at all.

    K-1 is not a great choice if you want to plan a wedding. You stand to lose money on deposits, etc. And it is not recommended to purchase nonrefundable flight tickets, unless you can afford to lose the money.

    Well, you'll have to travel there I guess, as I don't see them getting visitor visas with your family history of adjusting status on nonimmigrant visas. If you become a citizen, you can petition your sibling.

    The link in the post above yours states that US citizenship or LPR status is required. It also lists the different age range requirements by branch of service.

    I've been around since 2016, and I've always seen USCIS recommending to not use clips, binders, etc. I'm sure the two hole punch thing was changed because people managed to completely mangle the papers trying to punch through 500 sheets.

    None of that is new. USCIS has always asked for people to not include extraneous items such as paperclips and binders. They disassemble the packets anyway, so the extra stuff just makes for more work.

    Hi there! Most of us have done our own processes as DIY. If you have trouble understanding the paperwork and the process, an alternative to an attorney is to use a service like those who are “visa Journey partners” in the website margin. (I haven’t used them, and I’m not endorsing them, just stating that the option exists). It will take up to two years to get your partner here. US immigration is not fast, cheap or easy. But you’ve made a good start with finding VJ. Even folks with lawyers come here to ask questions.

    You’re now seeing the consequences of a very bad choice. I’m sorry about your mom’s cancer, but a bar to travel is totally appropriate. That poor choice also just goes to reinforce stereotypes about people from your country, which makes it harder for your fellow Nigerians to get US visas.

    Yes, that is normal for your consulate. Normally, I'd say you have a good shot at expediting for financial loss (supporting two households etc), but that would have been at the USCIS part of the process. Not sure if they would expedite the interview, since you're already in the queue, and it's not an "emergency." It's worth a try, though, perhaps? @Boiler, you enjoy expedites, what do you think?

    No. She posted an explanation of the rule, as well as a link if you want to read more. I was responding to the other poster. Your process is likely to take several years, compounded by the fact that the US does not have diplomatic relations with Iran. Your partner will want to make sure she is okay with potential single parenthood during that time.

    There are still parameters to meet for USCs to be able to pass on citizenship.

    Have you read the instructions that accompany the I-865? The supporting documentation required by the joint sponsor are the same as for the petitioner sponsor.
