N-400 January 2023 Filers
Sarge2155 replied to Sarge2155's topic in US Citizenship Case Filing and Progress Reports
This is what I sent, but your case is different. If you file online the N-400 will select some of the documents you need to send depending on the answers to the N-400 you give. Like I said this is what I sent for our case: Bank statements, Insurances, utility bills, front and back GC, taxes 3 years worth (transcripts), NOA for I -751, BC for spouse citizen, divorce decrees if applicable, children's BCs of NON US citizen (even though they are grown and on their own), mortgage statement letter explaining why non US citizen is not on deed and letter requesting a combo interview. Be advised bank statements and utility bills are dated from ROC submission date to submission date of N400. We will hand-carry all documents to the interview dated from N400 submission to interview date and prior. Easy uploads just time consuming. I recommend you scan ALL documents beforehand and store on your pc in one folder so you know where they are. Makes an orderly upload. -
N-400 January 2023 Filers

According to USPS I can see two letters from USCIS coming today, they are from The NBC. The NBC is where my wife's N-400 is so I suspect one letter is the hard copy NOA. Our Form I-751 was transferred on the 6th of January, so the other letter, must be the letter informing us of the ROC transfer and where it was sent. Both envelopes return addresses say NBC, so I suspect the ROC is there with the N-400. Hopefully that will facilitate a combo interview when it's time to schedule us. I'll post with more details as they become available. -

You can file 90 days prior to your anniversary date, but your interview for the N-400 will not be scheduled until you have met the FULL requirements for the N-400 (3years, under the 3 year rule). Is that what you are asking? -

The N-400 ask for the last three years of tax returns point blank! Provided you owe no taxes to IRS (you paid right away) or you have a refund coming IRS says it takes about 4 to 6 weeks to get your transcript. My experience has been less than 4 weeks I've got my transcript. If you have unpaid or you owe taxes, transcripts will not be issued until you square with IRS. -

All the more reason to speak more English in the home practice does make perfect, but I do understand personal preference! -

When will your window open for the N-400? Perhaps they will transfer your ROC once you submit your N-400. That’s what they did to our ROC! Is that 108 days for the bio? -

Yes I think so too it does ask questions about your LPR dates, but I'm not sure if it will let you proceed if you do not qualify. Also your uploads are geared to the answers you give to the questions. Example if you answer you were married before one of the uploads must be a divorce, annulment or death certificate showing the prior marriage was terminated. -

Yes you can save it and log out. You have up to 30 days of inactivity before they delete it. -

Yes the N-400 does distinguish, the N-400 ask you point blank what relationship the children are to you i.e, step, biological but it does ask. The US citizen does not have to list their children it only ask for the NON US citizens children (under the 3 year rule) so any children you list will belong to the NON US citizen. The form also asks for their addresses. Mailing IMO is counterproductive but I understand to each is own. When you file online you get instant feedback, through the mail you have to wait! -

Filed the N-400 on the 5th of January 2023 got the bio reuse and receipt notice a few hours after submitting the N-400 online. Filed the I-751 on January 6th 2022, they reused the bio-metrics for the ROC too. I got a notice in the online account today that the I-751 has bee transferred to another jurisdiction. Not sure where yet, but the notice said they would send a hard copy and let me know why it was transferred and I am assuming where it was transferred too. The N-400 according to the notice I received is at NBC. The initial center for the I-751 was the Dallas Center. So What I am saying is I am not sure if filing the N-400 while the I-751 is active kinda knocked something loose. I'll update further once I find out where the ROC is being transferred too! -
Yes same deal for my wife, just waiting on the hard copy now. I did end up sending that additional information requesting a combo interview. Like you said it can't hurt.

I had a rough start back with the K1 in 2018, most of the folks that started their VJ during that time have all passed me in the checkout line. I'm bringing up the rear! -

Do you have a current ROC pending too, I'm thinking you do. If nothing else maybe this might knock our ROCs loose as it did for many other folks. Hard to tell though, I'm just happy to almost finally be done with USCIS and all these processes. If I can just string one more through it'll be a happy time! I told the wife she is gonna handle her own dual citizenship with The Philippines because I'll be spent after the N-400!!!! -

I understand how those things happen. Hopefully you'll be able to file it! -
Well another year another month of N-400 submissions. This thread is for all of us that will be filing the N-400 in January 2023. Our window opens up January 3rd and we will be filing January 6th. Our ROC is still pending and was filed on January 6th 2022. Good work everyone getting to this point in your journey. Will post more once the N-400 has been filed on the 6th! Welcome to the thread!

No it does not seem right, but once they schedule an appointment of any kind for you, you dare not miss it. CYA and attend the appointment and work it out there. USCIS has been doing alot of this lately. -
No I insisted they sign my interview notice stating that we where there and we did not miss it and they had made a mistake. It was no small feat to get a signature either, we had to get a supervisor. BTW USCIS hates the word mistake (on their part) perhaps that's why it was like pulling teeth to get an acknowledgement, but with the GC in my hand what else could they do. Just a tip never use the word mistake try a different word just not mistake!
