  1. Do not forget to make plenty of copies of his certificate. When you file for his US passport you will need to send the original certificate in. When you go to the SSA office you can hand carry the original.
  2. I think that notorious form I-944, Declaration of Self-Sufficiency, that caused so much grief was a Trump brain child. I'd look for that or something like that again! I think once things get put into place it's not going to be a cake walk for folks submitting forms for immigration benefits (unless of course you got big business or big money). Just my thoughts considering the last Trump administration. As what was said by another VJer, better get it in now whatever you are going to file before all this starts, as it is better to already have it in than to submit it when these programs start!
  3. Updating her status at the SSA office has nothing to do with her job. It has to do with any possible benefits she might be eligible for once a citizen. Why would she not go. It's probably one of the easiest things she'll ever do!
  4. An in-person visit is not only required it is necessary, especially after naturalization. She has to bring the original naturalization certificate with her so they can verify and make adjustments to her SS file.
  5. Of course I am for DFW too, it's very easy It's terminal D btw!
  6. Voter registrars were waiting outside in the courtyard after the ceremony in abundance I might add
  7. Perhaps it would have been better that the spouse went along to the N400 interview. The spouse should ALWAYS BRING the other spouse along with to the N400 interview and inform the IO that your spouse is there with you. My wife had an active ROC which had not been adjudicated, we requested a combo interview (wrote a letter) and submitted it during the submission of the N400 documents. Never got an answer nor did USCIS say it was going to be a combo interview. I accompanied my wife anyway and told her to tell the IO that I was out in the parking lot. The IO interviewed her without me and approved both the I-751 and the N-400. I guess its best to say that the spouse which is not being interviewed should ALWAYS accompany the spouse that is being interviewed to the N-400 interview. Does that make sense?
  8. You just made it, you have the title and all just post your filings here! Use this thread!
  9. I agree with this, as a K1 visa holder you are eligible to get a SSN, but the window is very limited. This is what we did. Get the SSN although it will be in the maiden name it will not be any problem to change to the married name later if you wish. Be sure to get your I-94 before applying for the SSN. That can be gotten from the I-94 website online be sure to print out several copies as you will need them later. SSN is most important and its a very easy process the sooner you apply. Some states do require a SSN to apply for the marriage license so you'll have to check your state requirements. The key is start building for your AOS NOW and with a SSN it makes it all the better.
  10. I concur with @Crazy Cat and I also say this from experience. When you apply for your N400 it is done online it's all laid out neatly and they tell you exactly what to submit. Another reason to do it now is the changing political climate, best to get it done and over with as you do not know what the future may bring.
  11. I see now Saman1103 submitted a N-400, that's strange usually it pushes your ROC right on through.
  12. I guess neither one of you guys submitted your N-400? That might have made a difference. Hang in there though it will come soon! Correction I see one of you submitted your N-400.
  13. My flexible friend has gotten me out of many a jam over the years! Good call Boiler, Oh and it's also got me into many a jam too! 😁
  14. Yes, this works well! I did the same thing myself when my wife filed her N400!
  15. AOS Checklist Cover Letter listing Table of Contents Check Payable to U.S. Department of Homeland Security - $1,225.00 (this includes the Bio-metrics fee, also be aware that fees are supposed to increase in the near future so please double-check before you send your packet off!) Form I-485 (completed and signed by non-US Citizen/beneficiary) Form G-1145 Copy of beneficiary's Passport with biographical page Copy of beneficiary's K1 Visa from Passport and entry stamp Copy of NOA2 Approval letter (from K1 process) I-94 Copy of beneficiary's Birth Certificate translation of birth certificate (if needed) Certified copy of Marriage License or Certificate Passport Photos (2) name written on the back Copy of DS-3025 Form I-864 (completed and signed by USC) (goes with form I-485) Proof of USC's citizenship (copy of birth certificate, copy of passport bio page, or other) Current tax year 2022 and (optional 2021, 2020) Tax Return (with W-2) or Transcripts (transcripts are better if you can get them) Employment Verification Letter (updated one - not the one used during the K1 process) Pay stubs (last 3 months) Form I-765 (completed and signed by non-US Citizen/beneficiary) Copy of beneficiary's Passport with biographical page Copy of beneficiary's K1 Visa from Passport and entry stamp I-94 Passport Photos (2) name written on the back Copy of NOA2 (from K1 process) Be sure to use the correct filing code of (c)(9) if this code applies to you. The I-765 instructions explain all the codes in detail. If you are filing under a different code (other than (c)(9) the fee for your AOS will not be correct and USCIS will reject your entire packet. Form I-131 (completed and signed by non-US Citizen/beneficiary) Copy of beneficiary's Passport with biographical page Copy of beneficiary's K1 Visa from Passport and entry stamp I-94 Passport Photos (2) name written on the back Copy of NOA2 (from K1 process Be sure to double-check for the current fees as fees do sometimes increase and they can change on a dime so please check. Additionally, check the forms as listed above i.e., current version and or edition date, there have been many changes to various forms. Consider sending tax transcripts instead of the 1040, and W2s. Also, consider preparing a cover letter for each form in addition to the main cover letter. Make sure you send long-form birth certificates and not the short form. Hope this helps in your preparation of your AOS. When in doubt ask questions. Please consider filing the I-131 and the I-765 even if you don't think you'll need them right now. You never know what changes your life will have down the road, so I recommend you file these two forms from the start. There is no extra charge to file them with your AOS and it's better to submit them all at once. There has been much confusion coming out of USCIS, partly due to Covid-19 and partly self-inflicted. This confusion filters on down to the people filing for AOS. The above listing is subject to change at a moment’s notice so please check, recheck, and check again BEFORE you send off your packet for any last-minute changes. Congratulations on the successful submission of your AOS packet!
  16. There is a statement stating that the GC, AP, and or EAD are no longer in your possession. I believe that statement is on your oath paperwork I remember seeing it somewhere, but there is a checklist you have to check off on and sign. You have to turn in that statement prior to taking the oath so it's best to turn it in and foolish to keep any of them if you have them in your possession expired or not!
  17. It has or was a long haul Dave, but it's over now my friend!
