I got the letter 4 or 5 business day after the status changed. My interview was a month away (philly office)

I’m officially a US citizen now:) good luck to everyone who still waiting for the interview or oath ceremony

I am just getting frustrated with this long wait. Currently it is showing N-400 case processing time is between 15.5 to 19.5 months in my field office. I called in on their hotline and they told me that there is a massive wait list for the Houston field office. I wanted to verify that and took an infopass appointment back in March and they told me the exact same thing. Funny thing is another person from this thread applied after my priority date and he became an US citizen back in February. So I really wonder why USCIS is lying to all of us by saying that the applications are processed at a "first come first serve" basis. Clearly they are not giving us the correct info. It's just frustrating.

I went to Mexico for few days before the interview scheduled, the officer didn’t ask for any itineraries nor travel document to prove it. I just told him the date then he just key in his computer. In safe side, you can always bring them with you just in case. 

My status just changed to ‘oath ceremony will be scheduled’.:) 

I sent my rfe (N14) package out and they received it on last Thursday. I was surprise to see the status change in a week. I thought it will takes months.

I actually was given the phone number of the IO agent due to some issues with my files not being at the local office in the past and fingerprint missing - so I asked him if they have any update on that - he told me my application was approved and asked me "when do you want to come for the oath ceremony?"
So that's how it went down haha! Very different than most people I know!!!!

We have the credit card, car insurance and 401k, I don’t know about the home insurance. My husband doesn’t seem concern that much and he said a lot of people don’t have joint name on mortgage too.

Did you get it yet? Anything been updated? Mine was updated to Approved online two days later and then it was removed the next day after that. Back to 'interview was scheduled'. I don't know whether to call them regarding it.

Hi, I got the letter last Thursday. This is what t requested.

1) mortgage lease show as joint owner (we don’t have joint name on the mortgage)

2) joint tenancy lease ( we don’t have this either)

3) deed to your home showing you and your spouse as joint owners (we don’t have this)

4) documentation showing commingling of financial resources ( we have joint bank acc, insurance and 401k but no utility bills)

5) birth cert of children (we have these documents)

6) affidavits of third party having knowledge of the boba fixes of marriage relationship. ( we have a friend and my sis in law’s notarized letter)

now i just worry because we dont have joint name pn martgage will caused red flag.

My status online still showing interview was schedule even I received my RFE last Thursday. I think you don’t need to worry too much, it may change to in line for oath ceremony after they schedule yours:) 

Hi, I just had my interview last Thursday and the officer said I would receive a RFE letter in mail within few weeks. My question is how long does it takes them to mail the letter?  My status still hasn’t change yet after the interview, it still stated the “interview was schedule”.

Yes you should. Otherwise will be just like me, waiting for the RFE letter to come. I don’t think you need to bring any documents from removal of condition or adjustment of status. This is N400, they won’t ask for those two processes.

If you are a citizen, you MUST fly out of the country and back in with a US passport. You would likely need at least a week to get your passport done, even if you pay the expedite fee. 

 

If you have passed the interview, but not taken the oath, you are NOT a US citizen yet and can fly on your old passport + green card combo.

 

That’s what I figure will happen to my trip this summer. I will likely have the interview by then, but not the oath so I’ll just fly like before and then do the oath after my trip. 

Thanks for the info. It helps a lot. I don’t think the oath will happens soon because of the RFE. I might just fly out with my green card and it will be easier for me because my country not allow to have dual citizenship.

I’m sorry they asked for more evidence. Hopefully it gets resolved quickly for you. 

I never think about it. Can I still use my original passport to fly out if the process complete by then but without the US passport? How can I prove I’m a citizen? with the oath certificate?

If I can go back this summer, of course it will be great. Maybe I should just convince my husband to book the tickets no matter what happens. I haven’t been back there for long time.

Why would you think that you can decide what you can bring to interview. Immigration is not a right. You have to provide what they ask. Just provide all joint docs they r asking and you will be just fine.

I’m just feeling disappointed especially when I thought the journey came to the end but now I even need to wait longer. You should know better once you get the rfe, the process will even take longer to be done and at this point, I will never know what happen after. If they have listed out those documents on the letter they sent to us, of course I would have bring them but it didn’t shown on the letter at all. It just out of no way, the officer pulled out the list and said I should bring all those documents (based on 3 years marriage) on the letter.

Wish he just came during the evening he would see all the evidence ( like my husbands mess all over the living room and his "man cave" in the basement). My husband even asked me if he should come and I said no, because I was going to go to work after my interview and honestly regret not bringing him along. 

I was regretting not to bring my whole family with me too. It was just because we had two kids with us, my husband didn’t want to bring them and waited for me in the waiting room.  We’re only have joint account, 401k and insurance (kids’ birth cert already submitted). The bills and mortgage  are under my husband’s name only. I just hope these will be enough evidence to that officer.

 I think they just want to make our life more stress

Yeah I had the same thing happen. They did not ask for more evidence during the interview letter and decided to just spring it out of nowhere. I sent my taxes with my original package as well as evidence of an ongoing relationship. Hope you get your RFE soon. 

How long did you wait for the RFE to come? How long had you wait after the interview and submitted all the requested documents now?

I’m sorry to hear that, hope you will get some news soon. Wish I will get the letter in few days too instead of few weeks. I just want to get it all done soon. It’s really a stress process.

Will do. That’s just doesn’t make sense to me especially we had all those documents submitted for remove condition gc and they still asking for them. And income tax, kids birth certificate and my husband original passport and birth certificate are with me. They should be proving we’re still together:(

been waiting for 4 months since interview still. 

How long did you wait for the letter? Oh man, still no news after 4 months so means I shouldn’t give high hopes:(  the officer told me after I submit those documents, his assistant will update on the system and inform him then he will pull out my file and schedule for oath ceremony. Now I guess it won’t happen so soon. I am planning to visit my country this summer but now I’m stuck. I don’t kno2 if I should book the ticket.

Does anyone has the same situation.? I filed my N400 under 3 year marriage. I went for my interview today and passed the civic test but after the officer reviewed all my document, he asked if I have any document to proof the marriage. I said no because I brought the kids birth certificate and the past 4 years income tax script (included this year) which already have the joint name and address stated on it. I though these should b good enough and mentioned it to him but the officer asked for our joint bank account and insurance. He showed me the lists that I should bring for filing under 3 yrs rule. I checked the letter I received, it didn’t ask for those documents at all. Anyway he asked me to wait for the letter in few weeks and submit all those requested documents then he only will schedule the oath ceremony for me. 

Anyone has has the same issue? Just wonder how long do I really have to wait for that letter and I wonder will my application get rejected after I submit those documents. 

Passed my test today but unfortunately they need more documents to prove our marriage (such as joint account, insurance, etc). I thought the income tax is good enough which shows our name together and address but guess not. Now need to wait for another letter (in few weeks) to submit the additional documents. Waiting game still continue now:( 

Hi there, Does anyone experience this before? After you change your name, do you need to update the name on the birth cert of the kids? I was thinking to change my full name so it will be totally different than my original name but I afraid this will makes things more complicated. Please tell me about your Experience.

The interview was less than 30 minutes. I actually waited the same length of time after approval for a supervisor to check the file and to to get handed the notice of oath ceremony. The ceremony itself took around 90 minutes yesterday and there were 70 people which I am sure added to the time it took. Overall I have always had a good experience with the Philly field office. However I am glad to have ended my dealings with them
