I am in the Philippines now. I use Windscribe---the Chrome extension. Works perfectly. I am able to access all of my banking sites and US Government sites. I route my traffic through a Chicago server.

US citizen in US wants to divorce filipino in Philippines
Carpe Vinum replied to assila's topic in Philippines
Will he agree to sign the divorce papers? If so it can be inexpensive and done relatively quickly. Unlike some states, Ohio doesn't have a "waiting period" between when you file your divorce and when the court can start processing it. However, there is a 30-day waiting period in a dissolution of marriage—the court can't grant the dissolution until at least 30 days has passed. -

As JeanneAdil said it can be beneficial to front load applications/petitions for certain countries. You have not stated which country your beneficiary is from so it is hard to give you specific advice. -
My wife traveled like this in April 2022. Bring copy of marriage cert. Nobody cared. Not an issue.

My wife's PSA birth certificate had some problem with visibility. My wife took that and the local old tissue paper looking copy to the embassy. The seemed aware that these things happen and took both without batting an eye. They returned the tissue paper original with her Visa and passport. This was 2019 so YMMV. ***I may be a little foggy but you only submit your birth certificate with the 129F. Not the beneficiary's. That happens at the embassy stage.***

Why wouldn't you file for citizenship?
Carpe Vinum replied to Stein's topic in General Immigration-Related Discussion
I never claimed my wife's ambivalence was rational 😉 My wife feels the same. The only reason she would get citizenship is so she could travel freely back and forth with me and not keep track of days out of country. She came here to be with me and not to get citizenship. Sometimes it is easy to minimize what our loved ones sacrificed to be with us. Especially someone with a strong cultural connection with their country. The good thing is that there see to be Filipinos everywhere and they attract each other like magnets... -

Moving to the Philippines in 11 months--plenty of questions!
Carpe Vinum replied to Stevephoto's topic in Philippines
We will be going in the next couple of months. Going to use the BB one year privilege and get a feel for which visa to apply for. My wife set up a bank account at BPI when she was there in April. She had to fill out an I-9 with them. Google it and read up on it. It was painless. 13A is probably best for you. SRRV has some advantages for me as I can get it cheap as a veteran. I have looked into the virtual mailbox providers. You have to be careful as banks are catching on and refusing to use them as the primary address. I.E they want an actual physical US address to send Debit and credit cards, too. I have Schwab and they are beginning to crack down on foreign users also. I have accounts at State Department Federal Credit Union and PenFed Credit Union. Both allow for foreign addresses. I see your bank is allowing a Philippine address. That is my biggest worry about relocating 100%. One day my bank just decides to suspend or close my account because I am in a foreign location. VPNs are fine but banks are becoming more sophisticated and can suspend your account. I just read of one account where Schwab suspended someones account because they couldn't answer a quiz about their past addresses and credit history. They were told that they would have to return to the US and provide a notarized letter from the US proving ID. As you can see I have been researching like you :-)) -
So what are they doing with our fees? It's obvious that they aren't processing any ROCs. My wife is ambivalent about becoming a citizen. It's time for me to bust out the 80's version of Red Dawn and try to convince her. So what is the consensus. Are they going to send out 36 month letters to us all? The boss's extension letter expires in October.
