  1. I spent many happy hours as a kid browsing the Sears Christmas catalogs.
  2. Good Luck! Every health care plan in the US is different> I suggest you study terms such as: Monthly Premiums DEDUCTIBLES Exclusions Stop-Loss Maximum Lifetime Maximum Benefits Co-Pays Network Providers Out-Of-Network Providers Private Pay Yes, it can be overwhelming to someone who has never experienced US medical insurance
  3. What kind of terrible symptoms? I hope she is prepared for the inability to work in the US for 3 to 8 months after entering the US. Good luck. I wish both the very best.
  4. You can check the timelines of other Ankara cases here on VJ....or ask in the regional forum.
  5. It's been only 6 days.....This is not the summer. This was Thanksgiving week..... Just be patient!!!
  6. "Should our application not be with the Ankara consulate?" No. Your case will remain at NVC until you reach the front of the NVC queue for Ankara. Then, NVC will schedule the interview and send the case to the consulate.
  7. Nothing wrong with joining the Army. Good luck in your immigration journey.
  8. Didn't you ask this exact question yesterday under another login? As I said, YT is filled with misinformation. Those question are not on the official list. N400 Interview Questions and Document Checklist - US Citizenship General Discussion - VisaJourney
  9. This data comes straight from othe VJ members: These are just the USCIS portion.
  10. Every couple has their own priorities, and each couple must decide which visa is better for their situation. K-1 More expensive than CR-1 Requires Adjustment of Status after marriage (expensive and requires a lot of paperwork) Spouse can not leave the US until she/he receives approved Advance Parole (approx 6-8 months) Spouse can not work until she/he receives EAD (approx 6-8 months) Some people have had problems with driver licenses, Social Security cards, leases, bank account during this period Spouse will not receive Green Card for many months after Adjustment of Status is filed. A K-1 might be a better choice when 18-21 year old children are immigrating also In some situations, marriage can affect certain Home country benefits, making a K-1 a better choice A denied K-1 is sent back to USCIS to expire CR-1 Less expensive than K-1 No Adjustment of Status(I-485, I-131, I-765) required. Spouse can immediately travel outside the US Spouse is authorized to work immediately upon arrival. Spouse receives Social Security Card and Green Card within 2 or 3 weeks after entering the US Opening a bank account, getting a driver's license, etc. are very easily accomplished with GC, SS card, and passport. Spouse has legal permanent Resident status IMMEDIATELY upon entry to US.
  11. No. Approval of the petition will be relatively fast. The long, long delay is waiting for a visa number to become available. People who were petitioned 11 years ago are just now obtaining available visa numbers.
  12. That is FULL retirement age. She can start receiving retirement benefits at 62. My wife reaches her full retirement age in about 15 months (Feb 2024), but she chose to start receiving spousal retirement benefits at 65.
  13. @Elizabeth Penny, the bottom line is that your brother can file for you, but there no real option for you to adjust through him for many years.
  14. She has a green card. She will interview for citizenship in about 3 weeks. Yes, a non-working spouse (foreign or otherwise) can receive monthly Social Security spousal retirement benefits based on the US spouse work record. It does not affect the US spouse's retirement benefits at all. As I said earlier, Most people don't realize that a non-working foreign spouse can receive Social Security retirement benefits ($$$) based on the US spouse's work record at age 62+. That's why I created that linked thread after my research. Medicare for Immigrants - General Immigration-Related Discussion - VisaJourney
  15. My wife just turned 65. She has zero work credit quarters, but she receives monthly SS retirement benefits based on my work record, and she has Medicare Part A & Part B. In fact, her SS was approved in 6 days!. We discussed it here a few months ago. I list the sources for my research in my thread below: Medicare for Immigrants - General Immigration-Related Discussion - VisaJourney
  16. That trick might or might not work. When the first I-130 reaches NVC, do NOT submit documents or fees until the second one arrives at NVC. Then submit fees and documents for both and notify NVC and the consulate that you wish to have both interviewed together.
  17. That is an excellent question. Most people don't realize that a non-working foreign spouse can receive Social Security retirement benefits ($$$) based on the US spouse's work record at age 62+. Then, when the foreign spouse turns 65, he/she can qualify for premium-free Medicare (after having LPR status for 5 years).
  18. A couple weeks ago, I ordered my mother's birth certificate through Vitalchek (which communicates with the State records department). I had the certified BC in my hands 2 days later.
  19. Because YT is full of misinformation and distractions. The best study references come from USCIS, itself.
  20. Yes. Veteran status is irrelevant in the world of immigration..
  21. They, sometimes, deny petitions then. and it will cost a lot of money. Everyone is in the same boat.
