  2. Exactly! I included a request for a combo interview with wife's N-400. Two days before her N-400 interview, I received an email from the local office informing me to be there for a combo interview.
  3. Come prepared for a combo interview. That means bring spouse and all I-751 evidence.
  4. Dual Nationality U.S. nationals, including U.S. dual nationals, must use a U.S. passport to enter and leave the United States. U.S. dual nationals may also be required by the country of their foreign nationality to use that country’s passport to enter and leave that country. Use of the foreign passport to travel to or from a country other than the United States is not inconsistent with U.S. law.
  5. 2 years for an I-130 is excessive. Is there more to this story?
  6. "updated" simply means a file was opened...or the days you checked the status.....nothing more. It is also possible your case is in extended administrative processing. Patience is the key throughout the entire immigration process.
  7. You can choose, but it will normally be consulate nearest place of current residence. Have you looked at going the Direct Consular Filing route for exceptional circumstances?
  8. Sounds like you are OK, but I would take a copy anyway....just my OCD...LOL. Good luck.
  9. What about tax documents? 1040s or Return transcripts? I'm surprised NVC didn't already ask for these items you mentioned. I would thank the consulate for the email.. Had you shown up for the interview without those documents, there would definitely be a delay. Maybe not so much now. Good luck.
  10. You will surrender your green Card on the day you take the oath....no exceptions. You, then as a US citizen, will need a US passport to exit the US. In your case, you should be able to get an emergency passport appointment soon after taking the oath (maybe same day). Thus, a passport could generally be issued within a day or two, imo.
  11. It is a golden ticket. They are not rescheduling your biometrics. All is good. Enjoy.
  12. Anything they don't ask for can be uploaded under that category.
  13. Your entire immigration journey can and will be reviewed.
  14. Please clarify your question: 1. There is no I-130 interview. 2. Your timeline indicates you filed an I-129f. The guides section here on VJ might help clarify the process.
  15. Only the most recent tax year form is required to be submitted for the sponsor. You will need the data from all 3 for the I-864.
  16. Submit a complete package with all required support documents. There is no requirement to provide a police certificate. Once a PROPER I-485 is submitted, you are granted authorized stay in the US until the I-485 has been approved or denied. "Authorized Stay" is not a legal status in itself, but it allows you to remain without accruing unlawful presence.
  17. Montreal is infamous for their strict US domicile requirements. You might want to scour the Canada forum for tips.
  18. Every couple has their own priorities, and each couple must decide which visa is better for their situation. K-1 More expensive than CR-1 Requires Adjustment of Status after marriage (expensive and requires a lot of paperwork) Spouse can not leave the US until she/he receives approved Advance Parole (approx 3-6 months) Spouse can not work until she/he receives EAD (approx 3-6 months) Some people have had problems with driver licenses, Social Security cards, leases, bank account during this period Spouse will not receive Green Card for many months after Adjustment of Status is filed. A K-1 might be a better choice when 18-21 year old children are immigrating also In some situations, marriage can affect certain Home country benefits, making a K-1 a better choice A denied K-1 is sent back to USCIS to expire K-1 entrant cannot file for citizenship until after having Green Card for 3 years. Once an I-129F has been approved, delaying the case is difficult to impossible if the need arises. CR-1/IR-1 Less expensive than K-1 No Adjustment of Status(I-485, I-131, I-765) required. Spouse can immediately travel outside the US Spouse is authorized to work immediately upon arrival. Spouse receives Social Security Card and Green Card within 2 or 3 weeks after entering the US Opening a bank account, getting a driver's license, etc. are very easily accomplished with GC, SS card, and passport. Spouse has legal permanent Resident status IMMEDIATELY upon entry to US. The clock for citizenship filing starts immediately upon entry to the US. A CR-1/IR-1 case can be delayed indefinitely at NVC if the need arises.
  19. K-1 cases do not have invoice numbers.

  21. **Moved to the Removing Conditions on Residency forum***
  22. Life is full of priorities.....choices....and consequences. I hope you get this straightened out soon. Good luck on the rest of your journey.
