  1. No. The I-130 will, likely, be denied....requiring you start all over. My advice is to just wait for the certificate.
  2. Unfortunately, yes, it is becoming more and more common. The new 48 month extension letters will help some people. Filing an N-400 has helped some of us. Had we not filed my wife's N-400, we would still be waiting for an I-751 interview.
  3. A Social Security Card can be used to open bank accounts, etc... but it does not authorize you to work. You will need an EAD or Green Card.
  4. It looks, to me, like a form letter sent to all Adjustment of Status cases which did not include an I-693. Not an RFE, imho.
  5. I was serious. California Exit Tax & Wealth Tax: What Is it & How it Applies to You (sambrotman.com) The California exit tax is a one-time tax that must be paid by businesses and individuals who relocate outside of California. The tax is based on the value of the business or individual's assets, including property, stocks, and other investments.
  6. I think I read that California is trying to make state taxes follow you even if you move to another state.
  7. What's your point? I said you SHOULD send affidavits....in this particular case.
  8. While USCIS mentions affidavits for other things, they are normally very weak evidence. In this particular case, you don't have a great deal of other new quality evidence. Good luck.
  9. Good idea. While I normally don't recommend affidavits, this case deserves an "all hands-on deck" strategy. Give them anything and everything you can find.
  10. Submitted new application almost 2 weeks ago. Still shows "Not Available". I know they say it could be 2 weeks from application date to even show up in the system, but I am just curious if anyone has recent experience. BTW, we did the expedited route.
  11. It is legitimate. The SS Card should be automatically mailed to the applicant after arriving in the US. My wife's card came in 11 days after arrival.
  12. Agree 100%. Attend the interview and get USCIS out of your hair forever.
  13. That is how I see it, too. Sooner or later, that "time bomb" would blow up, imo.
  14. Others might disagree, but that is what I would do.
  15. That would be best course of action, imo. I think using that Green Card will compound his problems.
  16. Filed I485: 9/22/21 Left US: 6/14/22 (no AP) I-485 approved: 2/14/23 Sounds like his I-485 was improperly approved since he abandoned it when he left the US. His wife's I-485 was also abandoned. He has big problems, imo. I wouldn't use that Green Card. @Mike E, what do you think?
  17. 1. When did he file the I-485? 2. When did he exit the US? 3. When was his adjustment of status approved? 4. Where is the dependent? As an immediate relative of a US citizen, there are no derivatives attached to his case.
  18. I have heard $5000-$10000, but I have no personal knowledge.
  19. Please keep us updated. There has been no official announcement regarding a "temporary Green Card" and no one here has reported that it exists. I think this was a tier one lying...again.
