  1. Don't submit the DS-260 until you are closer to desired interview date.
  2. 18 months or so is a reasonable average estimate from filing to interview. However, other factors can come into play pushing that time to around 24 months. Right now, per other VJ members, the average is 583 days (19+ months).
  3. That is not correct. USCIS does not estimate times for visas. That estimate is for only the I-130 processing. You can easily add 6 months to that number.
  4. If you need proof of legal status, you will need either an expired Green Card along with a valid extension letter OR an ADIT stamp in your passport.
  5. Nope. The Department of State does visa interviews...not USCIS. and there are no US consulates inside the US. There is no way around her traveling to home country for the visa interview.
  6. Interviews are scheduled based on DQ date.
  7. The visa has not been approved yet. Visas are always approved after the interview. Then the status changes to "Issued". Some just take longer than others.
  8. I am very sorry for your loss. You can certainly ask for an expedite. I hope you find peace.
  9. I-485 is not needed for a spousal visa holder. The actual plastic Green Card will be mailed to you if you have paid the $220 immigrant fee.
  10. When a spousal visa holder enters the US, he/she is IMMEDIATELY a Green Card holder. He/she is IMMEDIATELY authorized to work. He/she will AUTOMATICALLY receive a SSN if the box was checked on the DS-260. You do NOT receive a plastic Green Card upon entry. Your passport will be stamped. Your passport then acts as a full-fledged Green Card until the plastic one arrives. You are NOT required to enter at a specific port of entry.
  11. That is very similar to wife's list from AIT in Taipei. I would still take I-864 and tax documents.
  12. The requirements are consulate specific. They didn't send you a list? My wife (Taiwan) was told to bring original police reports, original birth certificate, original marriage license, original divorce certificate, relationship evidence, I-864, tax documents. I would over-prepare. I would bring everything....including the kitchen sink. Good luck.
  13. You'll have to pay and submit an I-824 to move the I-130 from USCIS to NVC. Unfortunately, that will delay the case for months....maybe a year.
  14. No. You cannot enter the US as a visitor with the intent to stay and adjust status. Please start a discussion in a proper forum area to discuss this matter.
  15. Where is your husband right now?
  16. Those are valid evidence. @IWander is an expert when it comes to I-129f evidence.
  17. Personally, I would send in a complete form. I just don't like sending partial forms. Others, here, might disagree.
  18. The Visa Journey Adjustment of Status guides says: " 1. I-693, Medical Examination of Aliens Seeking Adjustment of Status.I-693, Medical Examination of Aliens Seeking Adjustment of Status. If you are a K-1, K-2, K-3 or K-4 visa holder the I-693 instructions state that you are not required to have another medical examination as long as your Form I-485 is filed within one year of your overseas medical examination. If you are missing any shots from your overseas medical a I-693 vaccination transcription is required to be completed by seeing a Civil Surgeon to have certain portions of the I-693 completed and have the Civil Surgeon certify the form (sealing the original in an envelope and giving you a copy)."
  19. Vaccinations are not part of biometrics. They are part of a medical exam.
  20. What was date of the last visit? What was the date the I-129f was sent? Dated Boarding passes, passport stamps, dated bookings receipts showing both names should be adequate. It sounds like the form wasn't filled in correctly.
  21. Must be the dual stage authentication. USCIS always sends me a phone text with a code to verify identity when logging in. Pretty standard. They sometimes can use email instead to send the code.
