  1. As your mother is a legal resident, It is EXTREMELY important that you are unmarried at the time you enter the US in a few years.
  2. I would do as they requested. The IRS has a great deal of power. I'm surprised they use collection agencies. If you can't get something from the IRS, then send what you can.
  3. I thought she wanted to come to the US via an F-1 student visa. This might look like visa shopping to bypass the long K-1 wait. Having a US BF might be an issue.
  4. I said SINCE marriage such as bank statements from marriage to present date, etc. These questions are better asked before filing.
  5. Oh, wait! I think we sent only 1 tax return, too. LOL!!! Good luck. Maybe you won't have to interview.
  6. It doesn't appear that you included evidence from date of marriage. I would be prepared just in case you get an RFE.
  7. To me, 1 looked similar, but a couple appear to be the same outfits. They are somewhat distinctive. Maybe Sam is a seamstress, too.
  8. Yes, you can travel and re-enter with an expired Green card along with a valid extension letter.
  9. I have seen a LOT of people here who regret having filed for a K-1. I have yet to see anyone who filed a spousal visa, then wished they had filed a K-1 instead.
  10. A Utah Zoom marriage is easy and legal. You would have a Utah marriage certificate. A spousal visa would eliminate a LOT of headaches in the future.
  11. Another reason for a spousal visa is that the CO can say you are too married for a K-1. I would just marry and file the I-130s.
  12. Why a K-1?? OFFICIALLY marry and file for a spousal visa. Every couple has their own priorities, and each couple must decide which visa is better for their situation. K-1 More expensive than CR-1 Requires Adjustment of Status after marriage (expensive and requires a lot of paperwork) Spouse can not leave the US until she/he receives approved Advance Parole (approx 6-8 months) Spouse can not work until she/he receives EAD (approx 6-8 months) Some people have had problems with driver licenses, Social Security cards, leases, bank account during this period Spouse will not receive Green Card for many months after Adjustment of Status is filed. A K-1 might be a better choice when 18-21 year old children are immigrating also In some situations, marriage can affect certain Home country benefits, making a K-1 a better choice A denied K-1 is sent back to USCIS to expire CR-1 Less expensive than K-1 No Adjustment of Status(I-485, I-131, I-765) required. Spouse can immediately travel outside the US Spouse is authorized to work immediately upon arrival. Spouse receives Social Security Card and Green Card within 2 or 3 weeks after entering the US Opening a bank account, getting a driver's license, etc. are very easily accomplished with GC, SS card, and passport. Spouse has legal permanent Resident status IMMEDIATELY upon entry to US.
  13. My understanding is that the OP married prior to entering the US.
  14. That is an understatement. I am no expert, but the terms misrepresentation, fraud, unlawful presence, removal, and lots of $$$$$$$$$$$ come to mind. Good luck.
  15. Tucker Carlson: This is one of my favorite stories of all time - YouTube Hahahahahaha!!!! One of my favorite stories !!!
  16. Current annual income from a regular job (as an employee) is determined as follows: Gross income from most recent pay stub multiplied times number of pay periods per year. If you are certain your income is sufficient, you can choose to avoid a joint sponsor. However, if the consulate officer has doubts, it might delay your case until you provide satisfactory documentation.
  17. That is only a level to be considered. Each Consulate Officer has discretion to make decisions based on the totality of circumstances. Previous earning aren't as important as CURRENT annual income. If you are even close, I would consider finding a well qualified joint sponsor.
  18. It all depends on the length of the queue for your country at NVC. You can try checking the timelines for your country. Only expedited cases at the consulate make their own interview appointments (per the process at a particular consulate). Otherwise, NVC schedules interviews. This is how it works: 1. Case is DQ'd by NVC. 2. Case then enters NVC queue for your consulate and waits at NVC. 3. Consulate informs NVC of available interview date for upcoming month. 4. NVC schedules interview when case reaches the front of the queue for that consulate. 5. NVC notifies person of interview date via email. 6. NVC then sends case to consulate. After the interview is scheduled, it can take several days to several weeks for the consulate to receive the case.
  19. The immigration process requires a great deal of knowledge, planning, time, patience, and money. A failure in any of those areas can cause delays, additional agony, and heartbreak. There are significant difference between a K-1 and a CR-1. Good luck on your journey. You have found the very best source for accurate immigration information.
  20. Visa Journey has a step-by-step guide which thousands have used to navigate the immigration process. BTW, immigration fees are going WAY up soon.
  21. I disagree....but it isn't my decision.😁 OP's choice...and OP's consequences.
  22. I was so angry, we just rebooked another airline....LOL.
