  1. I would let it go and move on. Even if he did not withdraw the petition, it will expire later.
  2. I wish we had better news, but the reality is that K-1s are just as slow as spousal visas, but a lot more difficult later...my opinion.
  3. That will be the status until you get either an RFE or approval notification.....later this fall.
  4. VJ average is 595 days from start to visa in hand. Average is 4 months after USCIS approval.
  5. Your immigration attorney was wrong. FIRE that attorney today!!! A spousal visa is far, far superior for most couples, imo.
  6. No. What makes you think that? Average spousal visa time is about the same as a K-1.
  7. 15 months from submission of I-129f to USCIS approval is the average. See my first comment above.
  8. NVC won't even receive your case until late this year.... after USCIS approval.
  9. Generally, for a K-1, the applicant chooses the interview date (1st come 1st serve) from available slots after NVC has assigned a DOS case number. Finding an available slot is sometimes challenging. For spousal visa cases, the interview scheduling process works like this: 1. Case is DQ'd by NVC. 2. Case then enters NVC queue for your consulate and waits at NVC. 3. Consulate informs NVC of available interview date for upcoming month. 4. NVC schedules interview when case reaches the front of the queue for that consulate. 5. NVC notifies person of interview date via email. 6. NVC then sends case to consulate. After the interview is scheduled, it can take several days to several weeks for the consulate to receive the case.
  10. My wife received a couple mysterious "We have taken action" emails...
  11. Sadly for some, K-1s are taking longer than spousal visa petitions.
  12. Fall of 2023. VJ average time for NOA2 (approval notice) is 458 days (15 months). K1 Fiance Visa Historical Processing Times - USCIS Immigration Processing Times - VisaJourney
  13. You will have to contact the new consulate and ask if they will transfer your case to them. If they agree, contact NVC.
  14. That is a lack of faith in the relationship issue...not an immigration issue. Good luck.
  15. Welcome to Visa Journey. You have found the best source for accurate immigration information. I assume you have read the guides here on VJ. If not, read and study this step by step guide: Step-by-Step Guide on Filing an I-130 for a Spouse Inside the US - US Immigration & Visa Guides - VisaJourney Be advised that you need a joint sponsor(s). Social Security income is fine if sufficiently over the requirement level. Also be aware that the immigrant cannot work while inside the US (including online work) until she receives a valid EAD. Lastly, be aware that US citizens must file taxes on all worldwide income if over reporting levels. The immigration process requires a great deal of knowledge, planning, time, patience, and money. Good luck on your journey.
  16. Looks like you confused USCIS by selecting both options. Until you straighten this out, USCIS will retain the petition. You will have to submit an I-824 to move it to NVC. Expect this to delay your case by a year. Good luck.
  17. No reason to be anxious if you have a valid extension letter and an expired Green Card. The extension letter was created to allow you to travel.
  18. Now I am pissed. Biden's insane economic policies are affecting me more than I knew. A few minutes ago, I opened a new family size package of double-stuffed Oreo cookies. The package was 6 cookies short of a full package. Sneaky shrinkflation, thanks to Joe Biden and the rest of his looney crew.
  19. Administrative Processing just for the lack of a medical exam should be very short term. I suspect those 9-month cases were not in AP just for lack of a medical exam. After all, medical exams are only valid for 6 months.
  20. There is no valid reason taxes were not filed. The interviewer is in error. Taxes must be filed. Had she not been REQUIRED to file, a letter would have been appropriate. I would back-file for the past 3 years immediately, and submit a copy of the 1040 package.
  21. Exactly Same problem here. We submitted the application on Feb 6th. Check cashed on the 10th. Status Still shows unavailable. The people at the national passport office are not helpful.
  22. It is easy to "What if......" yourself crazy early in this process. Among immigration things to worry about, this should be quite low on the list for most folks. Relationship issues are another topic altogether. "Terrified" to sign the I-864 is not a good sign for the relationship.
