  1. You might be surprised at what USCIS and the consulate can see. Good luck. Stay busy and try not to worry.
  2. Just be honest and answer all questions. USCIS and the consulate will run background checks.
  3. The only real issue I see is during the medical exam. 2021 is very recent history. Alcohol/drug dependence will, likely, be discussed.
  4. I think it is perfectly normal for the officer to have already done his/her homework and made a decision in most cases (missing documents, etc). The actual personal interview has its own purpose.
  5. I would contact the consulate for instructions. It is now out of the hands of NVC.
  6. It is favorable. However, a visa is not approved until after the interview. The only definite indication is when the status changes to "Issued". Good luck.
  7. You should NOT buy a ticket until the visa is in hand and has been checked for errors.
  8. In some regions, background checks and/or investigations take time. Marrying and starting the spousal visa process would not prevent an extended AP after the next interview.
  9. Has she ever claimed to be married to gain entrance into the US before your marriage? Did you or she mismark forms to indicate she has been married before?
  10. No, applying for a tourist visa will not hurt. However, getting one might be very difficult. You have immigrant intent. The Consulate Officer might think you are trying any way possible to enter the US and bypass the long immigration lines.
  11. *** Please do not repost this thread. One duplicate removed***
  12. You are correct. A person cannot enter the US via ESTA with the intent to stay and adjust status. And I don't think that is the only issue. @Mike E @Boiler
  13. Found out yesterday that there was a system issue in passport tracking which caused "Not Available" status for passport applications Feb 6-Feb 13. As of yesterday, my wife's passport status now says "In Process". Tomorrow will be 4 weeks. I hope you can get your issue resolved.
  14. After 4 weeks, wife's Passport status has finally changed from "Not Available" to "In Process". It appears there was some sort of technical issue affecting everyone who applied Feb 6- Feb 13. I'm extremely happy that the passport application and original Naturalization Certificate are not lost. I don't want to go through the process of getting a new one. Hopefully, wife can book a trip back to Taiwan next month using her US Passport..
  15. Do you currently have a US tourist visa? In what country do you reside?
  16. Yes, 2 years is likely. You can visit in the US her if you had a US tourist visa. Otherwise, you will have to continue visits outside the US.
  17. Totally irrelevant to choosing a K-1 or CR-1.
  18. Ridiculous accusation. No one is suggesting a rush into anything. I have said that multiple times. If you want to waste your money and time, that is up to you. Just don't come back here and complain about how expensive adjustment of status is, how long it takes to get driver's license, how hard it is to open a bank account, how long it takes to get authorization to work, how long it takes to be able to leave the US, how long it takes to get a Green Card, how long it takes to qualify for citizenship. That is just not true. Your decision to marry should have taken place long before the person enters the US. Ridiculous accusation. Since when is providing FACTS harming others??????????????? Most all the people here have already made a decision to marry and start their lives together. Seems you think a K-1 is a try-before-you-buy plan. I disagree 100%.
  19. You are focused on the time before marriage. The benefits of a spousal visa take place after marriage. I have seen no evidence that engagements are looked upon more favorably than marriages. For the record, My wife and I met on May 12th, 2015...married on July 30th, 2015.
