  1. One option: Stay in school, get a high-level degree, then reach out to US companies who are seeking your skills.
  2. I'd wait. Never give USCIS an ambiguous situation.
  3. Based on a previous post by the OP, it appears this is an Adjustment of Status from Tourist visa.
  4. I suppose you could contact them once your case is outside normal processing times, but the extension letters extend the date on your Green Card for 4 years.
  5. That has certainly been true for some of us. In my wife's case, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1, it took 44 months for approval for the I-751, and it took 4 months for approval of the N-400. It took filing the N-400 to "unstick" the I-751 (combo interview).
  6. You called USCIS for a case number? It's been only a few days. Patience is the key, especially for an I-751. That "..is being actively reviewed..." stuff is not what it appears. Prepare yourself for a long ride.
  7. Have you read and studied the guide here on VJ? Step-by-Step Guide on Filing an I-130 for a Spouse Inside the US - US Immigration & Visa Guides - VisaJourney
  8. Good luck on your journey. Prepare yourself! The immigration process requires a great deal of knowledge, planning, time, patience, and money.
  9. Your parents are not in the US. They will not adjust status. They will receive an IR-5 visa, then a green card after they arrive in the US.
  10. The attorney is wrong. There are other things to consider, too. Your US BF needs to be in this discussion. According to Vj members, the averages are 595 days vs 606 days. Not a significant difference.
  11. Whether required or not, being present is always a positive.
  12. You are completing a separate I-130 for each parent and a separate I-130 for each brother, correct?
  13. Are you both sure that a K-1 is right visa for you? Every couple has their own priorities, and each couple must decide which visa is better for their situation. K-1 More expensive than CR-1 Requires Adjustment of Status after marriage (expensive and requires a lot of paperwork) Spouse can not leave the US until she/he receives approved Advance Parole (approx 6-8 months) Spouse can not work until she/he receives EAD (approx 6-8 months) Some people have had problems with driver licenses, Social Security cards, leases, bank account during this period Spouse will not receive Green Card for many months after Adjustment of Status is filed. A K-1 might be a better choice when 18-21 year old children are immigrating also In some situations, marriage can affect certain Home country benefits, making a K-1 a better choice A denied K-1 is sent back to USCIS to expire CR-1 Less expensive than K-1 No Adjustment of Status(I-485, I-131, I-765) required. Spouse can immediately travel outside the US Spouse is authorized to work immediately upon arrival. Spouse receives Social Security Card and Green Card within 2 or 3 weeks after entering the US Opening a bank account, getting a driver's license, etc. are very easily accomplished with GC, SS card, and passport. Spouse has legal permanent Resident status IMMEDIATELY upon entry to US.
  14. It would be helpful for you to enter the data for your VJ timeline.
  15. Our case was in Dallas. Estimate initially said 11 months. Reality was 4 months.
  16. Big difference between printing an extension letter and adjudicating an I-751 case.
  17. If the date the new immigrant enters the US (becomes a legal resident) via a spousal visa is 2 years or later after date of marriage, a 10 year card should be issued.
  18. Email came 2 days prior to the interview, but I had already prepared for the possibility of a combo interview.
  19. For clarity, the case remains at NVC until it reaches the front of the queue for your consulate. At that point, NVC will schedule the interview, contact you, then send the case to the consulate. I agree that this is not an RFE. Good luck.
