  1. Some of us have uploaded request letters to MYUSCIS. The verdict is still out as to just how effective the letters are, although my wife and I did receive a combo interview. They can't harm. I would most certainly prepare for a combo interview.
  2. You still have a few years to wait. Currently, PD 22 March 07 F4 cases are eligible for visa numbers.
  3. That is a theme across the entire immigration process, sadly. I think their time estimates have been rising for some time.
  4. VJ statistics show average of 14.8 months at California (based totally on VJ member input). That is down about a month since 1st of the year.
  5. Still Not enough staff to handle the in-bound cases. Residual effect of the pandemic?
  6. Yes. Now, wife can finalize her trip back to Taiwan in a few weeks. I was a little nervous during the time between oath ceremony and passport arrival...LOL.
  7. Your question about expediting at NVC was answered accurately. Other members read these threads. Some might not be aware of the differences between an immigrant visa and a K-1. or the limitations of a K-1. Good luck.
  8. You haven't been around here long. There are a lot of people who have valid (sometimes URGENT) needs to return to home country. Happens a lot. Good luck on your journey.
  9. Thanks. Yes, unless you are traveling within a couple weeks, a passport appointment might be difficult to get. All the acceptance agencies and Post Offices around Dallas are booked 4 weeks out. I assume the demand is high elsewhere, too. In addition, passport processing times are increasing, too. I suggest paying for expedite service and one-day shipping. Took 6 weeks from submission of application to shipping.
  10. Not exactly. K-1 More expensive than Immigrant Visa Requires Adjustment of Status after marriage (expensive and requires a lot of paperwork) Spouse can not leave the US until she/he receives approved Advance Parole (approx 6-8 months) Spouse can not work until she/he receives EAD (approx 6-8 months) Some people have had problems with driver licenses, Social Security cards, leases, bank account during this period Spouse will not receive Green Card for many months after Adjustment of Status is filed. A K-1 might be a better choice when 18-21 year old children are immigrating also In some situations, marriage can affect certain Home country benefits, making a K-1 a better choice A denied K-1 is sent back to USCIS to expire Immigrant visa Less expensive than K-1 No Adjustment of Status(I-485, I-131, I-765) required. can immediately travel outside the US is authorized to work immediately upon arrival. receives Social Security Card and Green Card within 2 or 3 weeks after entering the US Opening a bank account, getting a driver's license, etc. are very easily accomplished with GC, SS card, and passport. has legal permanent Resident status IMMEDIATELY upon entry to US.
  11. The F1 visa availability date is 01DEC14...a year or more longer wait than F2B category.
  12. Makes sense...., depending..Hopefully, they won't start retro-grading the F2B category.
  13. No. Visa number availability cannot be expedited. In the April Visa Bulletin, F2B cases filed as of Sept 22, 2015 are just now getting available visa numbers.
  14. I found this old timeline while I was organizing laptop files. I updated it with the last few entries. Seeing these entries brought back a lot of memories of hope, anticipation, agony, and joy. It was quite a journey. Immigration Journey for Liyaa: Texas Service Center after transfer from Nebraska Consulate :Taipei, Taiwan Marriage: 7/30/2015 in Taipei, Taiwan. 15. I am no expert, but I believe section B pertains to filing adjustment of status for those people already inside the US. Perhaps @Mike E can clarify.
  16. It means visa numbers are available for applications with priority dates of September 8, 2020 and earlier. It does not affect the I-130 approval process. It means approved I-130s will sit at NVC until a visa number is available.
  17. Each location is different. In my wife's ceremony (Plano, Texas), there were more than 1,000 people naturalized. We had to be there at 7:30 am. It took more than an hour to get everyone inside the building, Green cards collected, etc. The actual ceremony started at 9:00 am and lasted about 30 minutes. All family members had to sit in "family rooms" outside the auditorium where the ceremony took place. Audio was piped into the family rooms. Of course, your experience will probably be different.
  18. These instructions say it all. Sign the form before the ceremony (on the same day). Going to Canada and back will not cause an issue. There is no standard for oath ceremonies. Each location conducts the oath as they see fit.
  19. It doesn't sound like his circumstances have changed. Good luck.
  20. Possible to apply? Yes. Spouse in US Immigrant intent established with an I-130 He is free to apply, but I would not expect success. Absolutely......Many people would like to bypass the long wait for immigrant visas.
