    Take the new Joint Sponsor's I-864, I-864a, and all supporting documents to the interview. I would also upload all the new documents before the interview.

    That is the ONLY option until she obtains a 10 year Green Card or citizenship. My wife traveled with an expired GC and extension letter. No issues. In addition, consider this another vote to file an N-400 as soon as eligible (if that is her goal). We filed I-751 in March 2019.......then filed N-400 in Aug 2022. Both the I-751 and N-400 were approved on the same day in Dec 2022. It took 13 months for her CR-1, took 44 months for approval of the I-751, and it took 4 months for approval of the N-400. Good luck.

    I agree with @Mike E about notifying them. If you don't notify them, you risk them approving your I-751 without an interview., (and without knowledge about the divorce). That could, likely, cause all kinds of serious problems like misrepresentation when you apply for citizenship.

    That is exactly what they do. They warn you several times during the online renewal process. I renewed online this past August.

    CBP always has the option to do search everything. Maybe it was just a random selection....or an officer thought the OP looked suspicious. That is all they need.

    A K-1 entrant is authorized to immediately apply for a work permit which would authorize him/her to work, after approval, until the I-94 expires. Not being able to work for several to many months is, yet again, a known drawback of a K-1. If working upon entry is a priority, the a K-1 is a poor choice. With the introduction of the Utah Zoom marriage, the K-1 is looking weak.

    The I-485 cannot be approved as a stand-alone. The I-130 was the basis for the adjustment. Thus, it will be updated to "approved".

    Opting for a marriage and a CR-1 is usually a much, much better choice. Then, the "limbo" period is eliminated.

    No. Only a US citizen can petition a fiance. Green card holders can petition spouses and children.

    Her petition for her siblings is insurance. Never hurts to have multiple petitions. Sibling petitions take about 20 years...maybe longer.

    Your marriage certificate is a legal name change document in most states in the US. For immigration purposes, you can use any combination (with or without hyphens) of the names on your marriage certificate. Example: Jane Doe marries John Smith You can use Jane Doe, Jane Smith, Jane Doe Smith, Jane Doe-Smith Just fill in your immigration forms with your new legal name.

    No, your I-485 receipt grants you authorized stay in the US until the I-485 is approved or denied. You have no legal status until approval.

    NVC = Department of State Next status should be "At NVC" If a visa number is available, based on your priority date, NVC will ask you to upload documents and pay AOS fees.

    I'm sure that is exactly what they do for background checks.

    I guess you can be either proactive or reactive. Have you tried to contact the consulate to ask?
