Had my interview today in Detroit and passed. Oath will be in a more regional office, so they said it won’t be until late August, early September. Officer recommended that when I get my oath date, I schedule my passport appointment for right after so I get that process started sooner than later

I received a new interview date today, 05/24, scheduled for 07/02. Applied 03/31 online, biometrics reused, received first interview noticed on 05/14 for 06/25 but couldn’t make that work. I’m so glad it didn’t take another 6 weeks to re-schedule me, I was nervous. One week later worked perfectly!

Question for those who received a letter for an interview.

How did you find out about this? Did you receive an email or did you visit USCIS?

Email, and there’s a Case Tracker app as well, but I got the email notification before the app’s notification. The letter is in the mail too.

I believe I just received the email of the rescheduling approval, I thought it was odd she said I would get a call.

this is what the notice says:

”As per your request, we have canceled your previously scheduled interview appointment for your N-400 Application for Naturalization and have placed you back into the scheduling queue to be scheduled for an interview at a later time. Once slots become available at your local field office, the system will schedule a NEW date and time for your interview and a NEW Interview Appointment Notice will be mailed out to the address that is on file.”

According to friends in the region, Idaho, everybody who do the interview gets their Oath Ceremony on the same day. Might be done with this USCIS stuff in less than a month!

My cousins had their interviews in early February, and had their judicial oath a little more than two weeks later.  Detroit runs their oath ceremonies at the federal courthouse in Detroit.  No cell phones allowed, but they do allow tablets.

I already submitted my N-400 without a name change, wish I had known this beforehand, but I heard that during the interview you can still submit a name change request, do you happen to know if this is true?

That’s good to know about Detroit, thank you. Do you know how long after interviews do they usually do the oath? I had seen some offices did same day oaths and I was afraid of delaying mine to change my name. How do you find information on what type of oaths and frequency a local office does?

Yes, that’s what I’m afraid of, missing some sort of loophole.

That’s the way I understood it too. I’m just not wanting to delay the ceremony waiting for a judge, from what I heard it’s faster if you’re not changing your name. We shall see. Thanks for your input.

I figured this may be the case, that’s why I’m not sure I will change my first name yet, but keeping my options open. Just never identified with my long first name, I only got called that when I was in trouble haha

Hello! I’m in the process of being naturalized in the US and would like to change my name after I become a citizen, but will not be changing my name in Venezuela, will this be a problem if/when I visit Venezuela?

I would like to change my name to the US format and maybe shorten my first name. For example, Maria Fernandez Gonzalez to Mary Fernandez Smith (I don’t have a middle name so I will take my first last name as such). 
In Venezuela the format is different so if I change my name there it would still not read the same as my American passport. I know you enter with your Venezuelan passport and exit with your American passport, but I’m unsure if during the exit you still have to tie the American passport to your Venezuelan’s or the way you entered the country in a way that maybe having two different names would be a problem. 
Anyone have experience with this? Or know the process of leaving the country with a non-Venezuelan passport? Please share.

All I-751 biometric notices have two application numbers. The application number on the left of your biometric notice should match the extension letter's application number. This application cannot be used to check online statuses. You can use only the new application number on the right of your biometric notice (starting with CRI89 - WAC) to check your online statuses at uscis.gov.

So, I have an issue and would like your help, please. My biometrics appointment has 2 receipt numbers, but I only submitted one application, I-751, how many "application/petittion/request number" do you show on your biometric appointment notice?

The reason of my concern is I show two receipt numbers, one matches my original NOA and one is completely different, the number that shows on my NOA is showing a status "validation error" when I try to check for the status of my case. The second number on the request number does show a valid receipt status.

I called today and they told me I have to wait 30 to 45 days from my NOA to see if the validation error goes away, I'm almost there, but I'm going to call again next week.

Please let me know if yiu have the same situation, since I have one that works I'm not too worry, but I still think is odd.

Well, I called again today and received an answer with an actual explanation so I'm going with this one.

They said that if yiu receive a 2nd biometrics appintment within 40 days of the first appointment, then it's a mistake and yiu can ignore it. They said it would take a while for them to figure out that the prints did not work out for the FBI, so the notices would have to be at least 40 days apart.

I called this morning, and they told me it's only a mistake. Some people are having the same issue and I should just ignore the second letter. For all of you who are having the same problem, this is my experience.

But If you want a peace of mind, give them a call and keep the first receipt from your fingerprint appointment.

Which number did you call freebird? I called 1-800-375-5283 and selected the option as if I needed to reschedule my apppintment. They told me "there must be a reason, you need to go to your appointment", but she didn't sound sure of what she was talking about, I asked her what could the reason be and she said she had no idea, I asked if I could talk to someone that could see the status of my case, and she said she couldn't help me with that... she told me, I guess you could always stop by the office and ask... well then if I have the time to "stop by" why don't I just go to my appointment?! Ugh!

I plan on calling early morning tomorrow and see if I can get someone else with a definite answer.

Let's suppose you're right, shouldn't they send a letter explaining what's going on? Like hey your fingerprints are rejected, you should come back. You know what I mean!

I have the same situation. I received my biometric appointment letter early February, I went to it on the day they appointed me, 02/11, and yesterday I received a new biometric appointment letter with an appointment date of 03/04.

I'm also just removing conditions for myself. I plan on calling tomorrow to check what is up with this and to make sure I have to go, because I will need another afternoon off from work

So, I got my biometrics done on the day of my appointmemt, 02/11, and then I received a letter yesterday for a new Biometrics appointment for 03/04. There's no explanation as to why I need a second appointment, has anyone had this happened? I'm going to try to call tomorrow and see if I can find out what's going on, but I guess I will have to go to this appointment as well. This sucks because this place is an hour and a half away from my house and I already had to get one afternoon off from work, here is another one... any insight would be greatly appreciated!
