1. Thanks everyone....

ZAKI did u have a translater or did u have your interview in English??? and by the way dont worry, inhs'Allah everything will work out (Ameen)...

I already Paid the Visa fee to NVC... How much money should he take at the time of interview ($100?)??

And if you have any other advice for interview preperations or anythings pls tell..

    Thanksss...

Yes i have translator. I prefer interview in URDU. There is no fees on interview day as IR1/CR1 already paid $380 to NVC. I took pictures, chat logs, phone cards, but nothing asked only pictures for both functions (Nikah & Rukhsati). You can read my interview questions in my signature link.

    Thanks

  2. Hey everyone,

My husbands IR-1 interview is coming up soon (july 25,2007)... and I AM SCARED.. I just realized something... I was reading some of the old posts and now im VERY CONFUSED..

In the I-130... we wrote or NIKAH date as the Marriage date... which was Nov. 19,2003.. My "Shadi" "ruksati" was on october 12,2004.. WILL THIS BE A PROBLEM??? or am i jus panicking for no reason.. according to Islam NIKAH=marriage but desi culture dosnt consider u married unless you have the whole ruksati thing... will this be a problem at the interiew???

    ANY THOUGHTS......??????????

    Thanks in advance!!!

My nikah was in November 2001 and rukhsati was December 2004. Long gap between Nikah and rukhsati. CO did not ask me about nikah or rukhsati but i told him that nikah was in 2001 and rukhsati was in 2004. He asked why wait for so long and asked for pictures of both functions also he asked me that tell me something interesting about your wife in this gap.

At the end he approved and congratulated but said need to do AP. Nothing to worry about Nikah or rukhsati gap.

    Zaki

you are on AP, do you think your AP has anything to do with this huge Gap? In some cases it could be good thing because CO may take this 3 years Gap as successful marriage. but not every CO think like that?

Do u think that i made a mistake here to tell CO the complete story about the gap between nikah and rukhsati ?

  4. Is it normal for ISL embassy to give out interview date after 3 months?

Or is it for K3 visas only?

I am expecting my wife's case to be transfered there early Aug, should I expect interview date for December?

K3 is usually 3 months. Our CR 1 was at embassy in August and interview was 6 months later for December. Hang in there everyone.

Is that true? I have seen post here who have Interview dates assigned 2 to 6 weeks after their case completes at ISL embassy.

Can someone else share their experience please. Thanks

Embassy received my 3.5 packet on 16th November and i receive interview date on 29th march.

  5. These are the IR-1 document requirements as listed in the packet 3.5 that Mary had posted a few pages back:

    ----------------------------------------

    1. Form DS-230 Part 1 and II (All questions on the form must be answered)

    2. Birth Certificate (Original and one photocopy)

English Translation of the Birth Certificate (Original and one photocopy)

    3. Marriage Certificate (Original and one photocopy)

English Translation of the Marriage Certificate (Original and one photocopy)

    4. Death Certificate (Original and one photocopy) if applicable

English Translation of the Death Certificate (Original and one photocopy)

    5. Divorce Certificate (Original and one photocopy) if applicable

English Translation of the Divorce Certificate (Original and one photocopy)

    6. Applicants who have not submitted an Affidavit of Support with the National Visa Center must submit the following documents:

    a. Original, Signed, Form I-864 (Affidavit of Support from the sponsor and notarized by and American notary public or Consular officer at the American Embassy if filing DCF. One I-864 for each derivative applicant and supporting documentation.

    b. Complete I-864 with supporting documents from the joint sponsor if needed.

    c. Copies of the sponsor’s federal tax returns (Form 1040) for the past (3) years. The newer forms request one year but the embassy asks for all three years.

    d. An original job letter and or proof of self- employment from the sponsor.

    e. Proof of sponsor’s assets.

7. Photocopy of passport (Valid for 12 months beyond the anticipated visa interview date.)

If you have submitted the I-864 to the NVC stateside just write a cover letter stating that this document was submitted already.

    8. Medical Examination Report (Medical examination must be preformed by one of the panel physician’s listed in the booklet)

    9. Photographs (Two photographs according to the specifications given in the booklet)

    10. (a) Police certificate from your local police jurisdiction.

(cool.gif Police certificate from all countries where you have lived for one year or more since the age of 16 (note this requirement does not apply to residence in the USA or Afghanistan).

    ----------------------------------------

    Questions ...

What do we need to send the embassy back at this stage? All the documents mentioned above sans medical report (since it says schedule medical as close to interview as possible).

Do we send the original marriage certificate etc. and then they schedule interview?

Also, since we sent DS-230 as well as I-864 to NVC, so I trust we just write a statement of this effect? I am curious though, which situation would require those two forms to be not submitted to NVC.

I submit these documents with packet 3.5 to embassy

    1. Nikah Nama original with photo copy

    2. Translated in english and photo copy of nika nama

    3. DS-230I & II

    4. Photo copy of passport

    5. 2 pictures

    6. Police certificate

    7. Original and photo copies of birth certificate

I-864 and tax return for last 3 years were already submitted to NVC. I did not write any statement.

  6. Hi everyone,

My wife just informed me that AMEX called and asked her to pick up her passport. She went there during her lunch break and got her passport and new K3 visa.

She also received a semi-sealed package and was told not to open it. I believe this is for the immigration officer at the POE. She can see inside the envelope and said all her checklist documents appear to be inside.

As you can imagine, I'm pretty happy about all of this. It also shows some hope to the others that were worried about their future interviews.

    Good luck to everyone.

    Wow Good news. CONGRATULATIONS

  7. Opinion regarding nikah and I-130 needed ....

A lot of people do nikahs in Pakistan and than come back and file for I-130 and at a later date go back and rukhsati happens.

My question is .... technically ... can you file I-130 if the marriage wasn't consummated (which is rukhsati, right)?

My nikkah was in November 2001 and wife file I-130 in 2002 and rukhsati was in 2004. I told CO about this even he did not ask me about this. Then he ask me to show both function pictures.

  8. Congrats Oasriz, I think you're more than half way there. Your wife's visa is obviously approved, and I think that she will be getting it in a few weeks like many others. From what I saw, It has been 2 weeks from the time of interview. What I don't understand is the "pink slip" comment. If they took everything and said that she will get her visa in a few weeks and gave her

Amex info, that probably means that she is good to go. But then again, i'm not sure if Khurram's wife got the white and pink sheet. I think he said something about 30 to 60 days or even sooner. I guess i'm up next. All these pink slips make me want to go and attend with her.

I think pink slip is a token for the collection of passport. Correct me if i am wrong.

  9. All,

My wife's K3 interview was today and I just wanted to let you know the brief things I found out already.

She was told by the lady she is approved and should get her visa in "a few weeks". The embassy kept all her documents that were on the checklist, including her passport, all the certificates, and all my tax information.

My wife was handed a white paper with some american express locations written on them, plus a pink square sheet of paper that did not state any information clearly.

My wife told me the lady who interviewed her didn't seem to be a good mood from the beginning and asked tons of questions and smiled barely once. Compared to what i've read here, it appears my wife had many more questions to answer. They asked alot about me and how we met in detail. Her interview time was at 8 in the morning and she was already back home by 10:30, so it went much quicker than I thought.

I'm going to talk to her in detail later today and post more information then. I'm glad the interview went well and hopefully this wait/AR will be over soon. The fact that they embassy kept all her info and passport I believe is a good thing.

Thank you all for your help.... and just another hundred more steps or so until the entire visajourney is over.

Congratulations dear, mostly those are on AP receive the same white paper with pink square sheet. Hope your wife's AP will go fast.

I called DOS yesterday and they guy told me it is still under security checking when it will clear we will call you are send you letter.

  10. With all the respect for Kathryn41 and Justchillin look what it says on the embassy web site :

"Under no circumstances should you tamper with these documents or open the sealed envelope. Should you do so the visa becomes automatically invalid and must be reissued. In addition, you will be required to pay the visa fees again and possibly also have to obtain updated documents."

Clear07, I really wish you that the embassy will be easy on you and just reseal it

Sigh... What is done is done...i guess i dont hv any option but to wait for the gallows tomo...

Thanks for your good wish .....Have a nice day .

Good luck and hope every thing will be fine and tell us a good news tomorrow.
