I am US citizen and applied my father visit visa. He got the interview in Nov 2024. I was just wondering what he has to take with him for the interview? I fill up the application online. Fees is also paid. And also what type of questions they might ask?

I am US citizen and applied for my brother in 2014. Case is already received by USCIS and when i see case status online it shows something like that.....

On March 14, 2014, we received your Form I-130, Petition for Alien Relative, Receipt Number WAC------, and sent you the receipt notice that describes how we will process your case. Please follow the instructions in the notice. If you do not receive your receipt notice by April 13, 2014, please call Customer Service at 1-800-375-5283. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address.

I receive notice I-797C on 18th March 2014. The I-130 petition for Alien Relative has been received by our office for the following beneficiaries and is in process...

Question is am i expecting any other letter/notice or i just have to wait for that long process? Because the only letter i receive so for is I-797C.

Thanks for the reply. She didn't receive any mail as her mother still lives in US and she has the same address. I agree she should have requested re-entry permit.

Is their anyway if she can find out if GC is still valid before making plans to travel back to US? Or simply just buy a ticket and see if she can be allowed at POE?

First of all i am sorry if i am posting in wrong thread. My question is one of my friend (Green Card holder) married with UK citizen and now she is living with her husband there. She is outside US since 14 months. She didn't take any permission or apply any form for overstaying outside of US. 

Now if she wanted to come back US what will be the process? Or how can she find out that her GC is still valid before making plans to travel to US?

Any help will be really appreciated.

Hi Everyone,

I have question. I submit i-130 for my sister in 2011. My sister has 3 sons. 2 are over 21 and 1 will be over 21 in 3 years. Means when the visa will be available after 10 to 12 years all will be over 21. The question is will all 3 be eligible for visa under F4 category ? If not then how they can come to US ?

On the OATH day there was lady announcing that after getting the certificate you have to visit social security office to update the status from GC to Citizen. Is that correct ?

Hi every one there,

Today i had interview and it goes really nice and smooth. Here is my story.

Interview time was 7:35am i was there in the line at 7.00am. After checking we went to room and waited for our names to be called. Around 8:15 am a nice lady called my name. After entering the room she ask me to raise my right hand and swear to tell the truth etc.

After we sat down she told me you are applying for 3 years marriage base so we need extra proof about your marriage. She start with written test ask me to write " HOW MANY SENATORS ARE THERE". Also told me read one sentence that was easy but i forgot what was that.

Then she start asking the other questions

1. Why flag has 50 stars

2. When must all men register for selective service

3. If president can no longer serve, who becomes President ?

4. Who signs bills to become laws?

5. Name one right only for US citizens.

6. When is the last day you can send federal income tax forms.

After that she start looking my application and asking questions about the application.

Then she ask me to give her last 3 years tax returns copies and also last 3 years utility bills and bank statements. Here i was worried that i did not have last 3 years bills and statements only 1 year back. She ask me if you have any other proof because these are not enough then i have my apartment lease paper and i also have the letter from the Landlord that me and my wife lived there from last three years. When she saw the letter and lease paper she said now it is fine. Last thing she ask me copies of birth certificates of my kids. Thats it. She said i recommended your application for approval and gave me one letter to wait in another room for Oath Letter.

Interview was not more than 15 minutes. But i waited for the oath letter almost 3 hours but at the end i got and it will be on 16th March.

That was my story. Thank you so much for all of you for helping.

Hi every one,

I have my citizenship interview on 23rd February on 3 year marriage base.

Q1. For the interview documents i do not have joint bank statements from last 3 years(i forgot to keep them). I have some 3 months old joint electric bills and bank statements. The only thing i have from last 3 years or more is our lease paper of the apartment. Will there be any problem if i don't have 2 years old statements or bills.

Q2. They ask me to bring kids notarized copies of birth certificates, can anyone tell me from where i can notarized ?

Q3. Any link where other members share their interview experience or interview questions they ask ?

you're forgeting the most important, copy of your GC front and back. it wasn't on the list mentioned above. are the pictures the 2 passport photos?

copy of driver's license or id

Oh yes i forgot to add GC copy. But do i really need driver's license ID. Yes i add 2 passport pictures too.

Hello every body,

I am about to send the package. The list i prepare is

1- Completed N400 form

2- Marriage certificate

3- Wife's naturalization certificate

4- Joint bank statement's front page

5- My Birth certificate

6- My 2 daughter's birth certificates **

7- Past 3 years tax returns

8- 2 pictures

9- 1 fees check

I have couple of questions here,

** Last month my second daughter born, i received her birth certificate. On her certificate my (Father's) date of birth is wrong. I am planning to fix this later. Will there be any problem with this if i send without the changes ?

Second question is do i need to use staple pins or the clipper to arrange the papers ?

I don't know where to post this question just asking here. My wife apply for her passport 2 years back and send her Certificate of Citizenship through post office. She receive her passport but she did not receive her Certificate of Citizenship. How can she get the certificate ?? Where she can contact ???
