  1. Hello all, forgive me if this is a commonly asked question. I just want to make sure I am getting an answer for my specific case.

I am currently filling out the I-864 as the sponsor for my wife who is the immigrant. I currently don't make enough money to satisfy the requirements so I was going to have one of my parents as a joint sponsor.

My question is about the 'shared principle residence' requirement for the joint sponsor. My current situation is this:

    • I have been living abroad with my wife for a little over a year (Since April 2015)
    • In the United States I don't have a house/apartment, I live with my parents

Can I list my principle residence as my parents house even though I have been living abroad for awhile?

When me and my wife come to the United States we will be living with them until I secure a job in the USA.

Thank you very much for any help. This whole process is really stressful and VisaJourney has helped me tremendously!

If you need any more information I would be glad to add it.

    Thanks again! :goofy:

  2. Hello, I am currently living abroad with my wife and we are going through the process of filling out the I-130 form after compiling all of our documents, we hope to send it to the Chicago lockbox in the coming days.

I have a question about filing out the form with foreign phone numbers. Should I list my parents phone number (who reside in the U.S) or should I put in my foreign phone number and remove the country code. Or will that confuse them and lead them to call a random U.S. number? I am asking this because when I'm filling out the form electionically the PDF has validation on the phone number fields which don't allow phone numbers longer than 10 digits for both mine and my wifes... Thus removing the option of the 3 digit Ukrianian country code...

Also for section E. "Signature of petitioner" the phone number field is basically formatted only for US phone numbers...

I know they never call these numbers, but I'm trying to decrease the likelyhood that I will get any requests for more information.

    Thanks!!
