No not married yet. I'm not even in the USA yet. The USC I will marry is just telling me In advance that they will put my name on lease open up a bank account together, pay bills etc but they will file taxes separately. They are worried they will get less in tax benefits at the end of the year if they file jointly. However someone mentioned on here I can file taxes as married but file them separately. That's why I was wondering will it hurt my i485 once I'm there just so I can feed it back to the USC.  My divorce in Egypt happened in the end. Thank god 🙏

    then u do not understand

he can not file as married if you 2 aren't married

and u will not adjust status in the US

he can apply K1 for fiancee or marry in Egypt and do a CR1 for spouse

but at this time he can not include u on his tax returns

  2. You will need a state driving license  given your state rules

very important in the USA to have a license as we have huge areas with no train , bus or taxi service

first thing an officer will ask for is your driving license and insurance card and then your green card

green card shows your date of permanent residence and you don't want to be over the time limit of updating DL to your state

Really? The website told me 4-6 for an update (not a decision specifically, just anything) and even now it's still saying  4-8. They should really update the time estimate to match their work load so people won't think they're being left out in cases like mine.

I'm actually surprised so many Ecuadorians want to even come here tbh. Their country is way better. The only reason I'm staying in the US for now is BC I don't know how to get my pets there yet (cat and turtle) since no plane will take them across the ocean in that direction and BC my grandma has no passport and can't travel with us if we did go permanently. But legit I just got back from there for a Christmas vacation and I almost didn't come home with my mom and brother. That's how nice it is there.

Ecuador is only nice for those who have a decent job and money

  4. This process takes patience / a lot of patience

it will be about a year before the petition itself gets an "approval "  notice which just means all the needed documents are there for that part Step 1

then the case goes to NVC and waits for Ecuador to send for it to interview

u should check the guides above

u should read the portal for Ecuador and posts and timelines of other people going thru that embassy

and USCIS doesn't discriminate for not being straight

these posted timelines at USCIS are the last thing they update as they are short staffed still

as for hearing day to day, week to week or month to month about your case,  u will not unless the USC gets a RFE because a document is needed or something needs to be explained

  5. The CR1 petition is exactly  for marrying abroad and bringing other family members to the US

no US registration needed for the marriage if legal in the country of marriage / there is not even a way to do this

just be sure that and all other documents are legally stamped and sent to USCIS along with a certified English translation (that's what they wanted for ours

u can file online now so its a lot easier to file than when i did it

keep copies the petition and all documents u submit to USCIS and the next NVC step along with the I 791 receipt when u receive it

Guayaquil is strict on documents and translations

and not so friendly during an interview

Review the guides above for all needed inormation

and Please when you do a petition for the CR1,  make a timeline

Jul 25, 2021  Most USCIS forms also ask if you have used other names. You will need to enter your maiden name and any other versions of your name

For a deadbeat but if he has a legitimate excuse such as loss of job due to covid, the judge should encourage a job search and regulate that search with resumes and applications, check ins, etc.  One could argue that forcing someone to find money quickly encourages to find jobs that are not legal, per say.  Jail shouldn't be the first option.

do you not think this can happen in the US??

surprise !   it can and it does

Is Jail a Potential Penalty for Failing to Pay Child Support? In short, yes, you can go to jail for failing to pay your court-ordered child support. The good news is that you will have several chances to amend the issue and make up the payments you owe.Mar 3, 2020

usually the back support comes out of tax refunds but we ,  in the US,  have deadbeats ,  who won't pay unless forced

In Ecuador both parents are expected to support the child and the court can be called in when either has income issued (like our family court)

: Ecuador law follows what is called a "sharing rule", meaning regardless of with which parent the child resides, each must provide reasonable support for the needs of raising the child. The law uses three "income groups" to arrive at the figures, although please realize each case is different. To see a table showing these figures, please just click the following link:

  7. i can not even begin to count the times i have opened and scanned posts when an american is "in love online " sometimes never having met the person

and people here tell them 'take it easy"  " don't rush into a marriage"   get to know the man/woman

but if fact ,  no one wants to hear that but it is said many times

and even if a person marries another american,  it can be for the wrong reasons and one of them is using the other

Please forget and forgive and move on

and take this as a hard hard lesson to learn because if you don't ,,  you will age fast and none of us needs premature  grey hair

  8. At this time (if you check the US embassy site )   you will see the Consular section is closed until further notice (check under either US citizen services or visa services to see the announcement on right hand corner) as Ecuador is under State of emergency announced December 21, 2020

also the August announcement that said they would try to resume services said "be patient as there is a big backlog " and now all that is halted again

as you can see on the right side of the Ecuador portal page,   there are no interviews listed to take place

I'm also waiting for an appointment in Guayaquil. I was Documentarily Qualified on August 11, 2020 and I still haven't heard anything from NVC or the embassy. If any of you has any info, I'd really appreciate it. Also, let me know when you guys get your interview appointment, I'll do the same when I get mine.

there are 5 spouse visa interviews showing on the portal page for our country

  10. Unforunately if you go to the portal site for Ecuador there are no visa interviews scheduled for VJ members posted

i would check the embassy site to see if the hold is still on for new interviews'

During normal times i would say the USC should make a new visit but with all that is happening in Ecuador during this covid crisis all you can do is wait

Even my father in law,  a doctor ,   got hit with this virus and guayaquil according to my family there is still in bad shape as so many died

  11. I know they use to actually send a packet to the address of a K1 immigrant

now, seems they  send everything via email ID after the 1st paper notice I 791

our notice about the interview came to me, the petitioner and i had to forward it to him

each embassy is a little different but if you provided a good email ID ,  that should suffice  for you to tell the immigrant to go into embassy site and schedule his interview

    • Nothing will speed up the process when immigration has been slowed down by need of additional funding
    • the fee increase was approved , and then stopped by a judical order
    • they asked Congress for 1.2 billion and were denied

    approved was the following:

On September 30, 2020 the President signed H.R. 8337 - the Continuing Appropriations Act, 2021 and Other Extensions Act, which will fund the government through December 11, 2020. The bill, introduced on September 22, 2020, Rep. Nita M. Lowey (D-NY) includes the language from Emergency Stopgap USCIS Stabilization Act (H.R. 8089), seeks to address USCIS budget shortfall by giving the agency immediate access to existing premium processing funds that were dedicated to infrastructure improvement to cover operating expenses. It also increases revenues by raising existing premium processing fees for most form types and expanding premium processing to other form types to address USCIS’s current budget shortfall. The relevant language begins on page 30 of the Act. Please note that while the law takes effect immediately, the increased fees and expanded availability of premium processing will not take effect until USCIS is able to implement. Timing of implementation is unknown at this time, but we expect a public announcement will be made.

So,  i would expect even longer delays and this would be a money issue and that part has nothing to do with whoever is President but with Congress either giving financial help or the fees increases to happen

Well, it hasn't happened yet, but you can predict that will be the case unless Democrats win this thing. As much as people say we should not bring politics, it affects our lives.

Of course politics affects our lives as they pass the laws,  decide where the tax dollars are spent,  and enforce them

the only thing we can control is the way we vote

unless a group of people want to band together and hire a lobbyist like AARP does

  13. We just printed a few lines from some chats showing we talked over a long time- we were sure to show the dates of each conversation

from when we started talking to the present

embassies are all different but they don't need hundreds and thousands of pages

they need proof the relationship has been ongoing for as long as you have indicated in the letter you submitted when the application was sent

Don’t you mean fought by religious conservatives? Plenty of straight people and enough churches are in support of marriage equality. Sidetrack.

    https://www.nbcnews.com/feature/nbc-out/gay-marriage-advocates-want-mississippi-law-struck-down-n807166

I even found a site that had gay couples against gay marriages

this is one decision i have not followed closely but i do know conservatives (even not associated with a church) marched in protest

and i am so happy i don't have to make these decisions
