  1. Hi guys!

I decided not to worry about chasing up my case at NVC as I am heading to the states in a few days for 3 weeks to spend Thanksgiving with my fiance and his family. I figured that based on the average timetable, I would probably have the packet 3 waiting for me when I get home. Tracking my case while it was at CSC was stressful enough so I just wanted to let this next step play out.

Well, my fiance got mail from NVC yesterday with my case number, saying it had been forwarded to the consulate. So of course, curiosity got the better of me and I checked CEAC to see where it was... status: Ready!

Wooo! :joy: When I got home from work there was the packet 3 waiting for me, yay for being ahead of schedule! Double wooo! :joy::joy:

I've just completed the DS-160 and I'm going to book my medical tomorrow and send in the police check clearance so they can start processing it while I'm away.

  2. I have an EAD. I don't have a Visa since i'm from Australia, we have Visa Waiver.

Does it matter that we do this after we get the RFE though? Wouldn't that look suspicious?

I think it would more suspicious if you don't do it at all!! Besides, they have specifically requested joint account information so you should do your best to take steps to supply what they require, even if it is after the fact.

  3. What I would do in your situation:

    - Go to the bank and open a joint savings or expenses account and get them to print a statement that shows that it is in both of your names. Start using that account

    - Get your utilities companies to change the accounts so that they are in both of your names. Request confirmation by mail.

    - Ask your landlord if they would be willing to let you both re-sign your tenancy agreement, otherwise request that letter of co-habitation

    - Take out insurance policies together (i.e life insurance in each other's names, vehicle insurance with both of you listed as drivers etc.)

They want evidence that you are combining your lives and responsibilities as a married couple, so that's what you need to do.

  4. You need 3 years of taxes, with the 125% poverty guideline. If you do not meet this, you need a joint sponsor ( anyone who is a US citizen willing to sponsor your fiance)

    Good Luck!!!

MIA1129, could you please link to the official statement of needing 3 years' of taxes? I couldn't find any mention of that on the I-134 instructions. Thanks!

I think that the requirement to provide tax statements or not is embassy/consulate specific. It would pay to check here: http://www.visajourney.com/consulates/ and find out what is required at your fiance's interview.

As far as I understand, as long as you can prove that the USC's current income meets the poverty line requirement you shouldn't need a co-sponsor or need to supply tax statements unless they are an official requirement of the embassy that you are interviewing at. This should be made clear in the packet that they send out also.

  5. Thanks Zedayn! I came across that table last week while I was looking through guides on the medical but I forgot to bookmark that page with the table so that I could take it to my GP. You have saved me from having to hunt through the CDC website all over again!

  6. My NOA1 date was 23Sep and the expected adjudication date on my VJ timeline was 20-22Oct. I received the email notification of our NOA2 on 23Oct, so the timeline is a pretty good indication.

If I remember correctly, it seems to update as other members cases are processed and they update their timelines. When I first created my timeline I think the date range was 17-25Oct but as it got closer the range narrowed.

Fingers crossed for a speedy approval for you!

  7. We just received our approval NOA2!!! :joy:

I submitted everything exactly as I described above, with post-it note tabs marking each section and did not receive an RFE. If any other transgender applicant/beneficiary comes across this topic in a future search, include a statement like I did regarding name change (and gender) with the rest of your evidence and it shouldn't be an issue

Thanks to everyone who responded with advice and encouragement! I'm so very happy right now!

  8. hey we're on the same timeline.. let's pray we could hear the good news next week yayyyy :) fingers crossed!

Tezy, DaNne, we are on the same timeline!! I'm sure that next week will be our turn to celebrate the NOA2 :joy:

Yay awesome way to start your day! Congratulations!! I was hoping the same thing this morning... Next week I hope!!

Yes yes, let's pray that next week we'll be celebrating good news too!!!

  9. Congrats to all those approved! I'm really happy for you all, it's been great reading about everyone's nervous wait for their NOA2s and seeing the excitement as they are eventually approved. It's really helpful to see that everything is progressing nicely.

I'm a late September filer (NOA1 was on the 23rd), so it's getting very close to my predicted adjudication date and I have to admit that I'm going a little crazy waiting to hear whether I'll get an RFE or if we get to move on to the next stage!

  10. I've looked them up, just in case :) There are links to two pages in that huge long thread, one is the review of the medical, and how to find Dr Stone, the other is about her experience with the interview. Great info, she was the first of our group that went through it, and it sure made it easier on the nerves of ones who followed her. Good luck!

Kiwiana again, at the top of this page.

Thank you so much! If we can get through the USCIS phase, the interview doesn't sound too painful. I'm actually looking forward to getting that far!

  11. Hello, and welcome to Visa Journey :)

You've got a good list of items to include with your petition, it looks fine to me. I'm sure if anyone else can think of something you have overlooked, they will jump in.

Will you be interviewing in Auckland, and doing your medical there? There used to be a New Zealand forum, which got merged with Australia, and a useful thread from back then which had quite a lot of useful info on interviewing in Auckland fell off the first pages. I will hunt it out for you if that is where you are.

Hoping you have a speedy process !

Thank you cdneh! Yes, I'lll be interviewing and having my medical done in Auckland (it's where I live so that part at least will be convenient). I'll do some digging around in that forum and see what I can find.

Just make sure to get everything in the "other names used " section right and you should be ok.

Yes, thank you. I made sure to do that!

  12. Hi everyone!

I've been preparing all of the documents for our K-1 visa petition and I think I'm ready to send them off to my fiance in the states for him to file, but before I do that, I want to check that I have everything in order.

We've been together for over 5 years and he has been living with me for most of that, so we have amassed a reasonable amount of evidence that we are in a bone-fide relationship. It was going to be used for a residency application for him to stay permanently in NZ with me, but plans change!

The thing is though, I am transgender and only came out publicly a year ago so the photos from early in our relationship are of "the old me" and the majority of our paperwork is from before I legally changed my name. I have included a "Statement from Beneficiary regarding name change" to include in the petition, in which I state that I am transgender to (hopefully) avoid confusion.

Included in our petition package along with completed I-129F form:

    • I-129F supplement: Part 2, Question 34a, explanation of meeting in person (very brief, 2 paragraphs)
    • G-325A with passport photos for each of us (mine with previous name listed under other names of course)
    • Proof of US citizenship (my partner's birth certificate)
    • Letters of intent to marry from each of us (he'll sign his before filing)
    • Statement from Beneficiary regarding name change (and gender change)
    • Proof of Beneficiary name change (my new birth certificate - has birth name and new name on it)
    • 7x photos spanning our relationship from 2010-2015, some with family, all dated with the names of the people in them
    • Copy of my passports (old and new) bio pages and US entry stamps
    • 5 years worth of airline tickets traveling back and forth to see each other
    • 15x screencaps of Skype chat logs from random days across a few months
    • Copy of joint tenancy agreement for the rental that we lived in together in here in NZ
    • Copy of utility bill with both our names on it
    • Copy of joint bank statement showing both our names as account holders
    • Copy of life insurance policy wherein my partner gets paid out in the event that I die

Will this be sufficient? Have I forgotten anything??

Like everyone else I just want this to go as smoothly as possible so I can be with my partner. Long distance relationships are hard!!!
