Micah and I met in Mexico 7 years ago, right out of highschool, on a missions trip. We will both say that when we met, we found the other "intriguing" or "interesting" respectively. A couple weeks after I arrived in Mexico, Micah went back home to the US.
Over the next 7 years, we kept in touch via facebook, and Micah will say that I was always "just there" at unexpected but convenient times. We built a strong friendship, eventually moving to Emailing and Skype and then I invited him to Canada to speak at a youth conference at my church in July 2014.
That visit set it in stone, we started our long distance relationship in July, he spent Thanksgiving with me and my family in Canada and when I went to spend Christmas with his family...he proposed! And thus started this crazy immigration journey, so that our marriage doesn't need to be long distance like the rest of our relationship has been!
