remember the guy that authorities jumped on right after the shooting? i have a strong suspicion he was the designated decoy to distract law enforcement after the shooting and yes, this indicates a conspiracy. more at https://nypost.com/2025/09/16/us-news/george-zinn-old-man-who-falsely-claimed-he-shot-charlie-kirk-arrested-on-child-porn-charges/

1. who zeros at point blank range? 2. .308 and 30-06 perform very similar up to about 300 yards - i'd give 30-06 the nod if shooting 300+ yards 3. i don't see a 10 inch drop at 200 yards. 4. google maps could have given him an approximate distance, or he could have scouted it well in advance with a laser rangefinder.

"mauser" is the name of the design, and that design is from the late 1800's. most rifles since then are described to have a "mauser action" which was so named to differentiate it from rifle designs in use back then. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mauser as i stated to someone on facebook - the rifle used is essentially a deer rifle, a 200 yard shot is not that difficult. somewhere i have a target that i shot at 100 yards and grouped 3 shots together that can be covered by a nickle. the bullets impacted right where i wanted - 1.5 inches higher than i was aiming. setting the sights to do this will put the bullets right on the aim point at 200 yards or maybe a quarter inch lower than the aim point. this was taught to me by my dad back in the 70's so this is not new wisdom. my opinion - one does not need to be a trained sniper to hit the target at 200 yards. if anything, a weekend on the range, 1-2 hours for 2 days, could make one competent enough to do this consistently. the fact that the bullet impact the side of his neck also leads me to believe the shooter was not that well trained.

do you have a court order that gives you custody? -
1. from what i have seen, it's an old rifle - probably will turn out to be stolen. i had a feeling when i saw the video that it wasn't a 5.56 based on the devastating impact. 2. lugging a rifle around for a considerable distance would have made spotting the shooter much easier as word spread about the incident, which is why i believe it was left in the area. 3. a typical 30-06 bullet is around 150 grain (30-06 can range from 110 grain to 220 grain, 220 grain is for moose/bear), about twice the weight of a 5.56 bullet. the damage a .30 caliber rifle does is superior to that of a 5.56/.223 - which is why some states have a minimum caliber requirement for deer hunting and may prohibit a rifle shooting the 5.56/.223 - note state laws vary on this - usually the further north one goes (where there is larger deer) the minimum caliber requirement increases. 4. and yeah, i too have been wondering about that guy - wasn't he the one asking the question that charlie was answering? i felt this entire scenario was like a pre-arranged signal to fire when charlie started answering....
