For those still waiting on their social security card…. How have your employers reacted? I’m guessing you can’t get benefits until you have the number, but was it easy to communicate the situation to them?

Every time I post on here something about the update and my having to wait for the visa then something arrives! I should do this more often!
Today in the mail our potential interview waiver notice arrived. 6 month wait, but kind of happy we have a timeline going and an update!
Congrats! I just read this post and went to check our case status... and my husband’s EAD card was ordered to be produced. I want to have a party.

We technically aren’t even October filers; we filed 9/29/14. We had some problems getting the documentation together responding to an RFE related to our sponsor… so it is really our fault we are so delayed. Still, it hurts!

thank you for this! sorry---late response

I want to come out of hiding and say that reading this forum has been such a lifesaver. It is a weirdly comforting knowing that we are not the only ones going through this terrible process and there are other october-filing husbands and wives at home going stir-crazy waiting for that EADs.

We got an RFE on our I-485 for tax documents that we submitted on December 5th 2014. We submitted our I-485 with an I-765 for employment authorization and later learned that our RFE might delay the employment authorization.
Has anyone had any experience with this? I called USCIS and they let me submit a service request because December 29th is 90 days after submission. The USCIS person I talked to seemed to think the I-485 RFE wouldn’t affect the I-765, but this is the e-mail we received after the service request:
Recently, you contacted us regarding your Form I-765, Application for Employment Authorization. Your case is within our current processing time. Our systems show that we received your response to our Request For Evidence (RFE) on your Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status, on December 5, 2014. Your Form I-765 will be processed within 90 days of the receipt of the requested evidence.
The RFE we received didn’t say ANYTHING in the fine print about it affecting the I-765, like I have heard other people say. Is there anything we can do to try and speed things up a bit? Like writing our congressperson? Waiting another 6 months to apply for jobs is driving my husband crazy. I'd appreciate any advice/experience.
