  1. Congratulations!!! Cool to know that your embassy is New Delhi's US embassy. Please let me know when you will get an interview appointment via email. We are waiting for CC and then appointment letter for my spouse for an interview at US embassy in New Delhi. I am curious.. What was your checklist about? My checklist scanned date is Dec 22nd (minor error on AOS. Also, they requested a photocopy of our marriage certificate even though they already have our original marriage certificate.). Have a good trip to India.

Thanks :) We had a checklist for something that we confirmed with NVC twice. We entered incorrect income and despite the fact that my husband's income is much more than the poverty line threshold, but they suggested us to put net income instead of gross income. We waited for 57 days and got a checklist :(

  2. Hi All,

After months of waiting and a checklist at NVC, the status on ceac website changed to N/A on Saturday. It was our first anniversary and what better gift than CC at NVC :) [checklist scan date was Dec 8,2014]. I have been trying to call NVC to confirm and also get some clarity on when can I expect the interview. They seem to have a high call demand and hence, I haven't been able to get through despite calling them 20 times already. I checked the New Delhi embassy website and the first available appointment that they have is 19th February. I am hoping to get an appointment by end of this month as currently I am in US and will be going back to India on 17th of this month. Fingers crossed....hoping to get the NVC email some time this week. Thanks Saylin for always helping the VJ fellows :) you are doing a great job :)

All the best to fellow VJ'ers...We all will sail through it :)

    Cheers!!

  3. Hi all,

I am in the NVC phase and waiting for an approval. We got a checklist on nov 28,2014 and we sent the updated documents and got a scan date of 8th dec,2014. I am considering visiting my husband in US in January on my B1/B2 visA (valid until 2017). We talked to USCIS and NVC and they confirmed that I can travel. Now, my question is regarding 'Adjustment of status'. Can we initiate it at this stage ? Is it advisable to go with the Adj of Status or coming back to India once we have an interview date?

@Saylin - Do you have any idea about it?

  4. Thank you: I appreciate the kind words and advice.

So basically, the idea is that I'm checking the box about the tax transcripts because they already have them, even though I'm not technically sending them with this particular document? If that's what you meant, that makes sense to me. The trap would be to NOT check it this time because I'm not sending the transcripts with this particular document...

I will call tomorrow and do as you suggest: it might not make any difference, but it can't hurt. I don't think my family will survive another checklist.

You got it right! Technically, you are not sending the transcripts but you mark the checkbox!! All the best :)

  5. checklist for me too!

    (@*$#%^.

Unlike Dave87 I don't have a lawyer to blame (and YES you should be furious with him/her!!), just myself:

In Part 5. Sponsor's Household Size, please correct the following... [x] Item 2. You must enter (1) for yourself in this field.

    [x]

Although it's a stupid, tiny little mistake that doesn't affect the integrity of the document and there's no good reason to ruin the lives of three people for 60 more days over it, it is nonetheless a mistake.

    @)$(&%.

Just one question for you all from a very depressed person: when you get a checklist asking for a new i-864, do you have to submit all the other AOS docs along with it, or just the form itself?

    )@*($#%&)*(@#%&&)#$*.

    Hi,

You don't be disheartened. I am going through a similar phase. You don't need to send any documents along with the updated i-864 unless stated in the checklist email from NVC. But , make sure that you check the checkbox which states if you have attached the transcripts with the I-864. DO NOT leave it blank of unchecked.

They will replace you earlier I-864 with the updated one. Make sure you fill this new form with the required changes and everything else should be the same as the particulars filled in the the earlier I-864.

Also, a small piece of advice will be to call NVC and confirm that there is nothing else missing in the packet or nothing else needs to be corrected and sent. Once confirmed, send the updated I-864 with the case number written on it along with the bar coded cover sheet that you sent the last time.

    Good luck!!

  6. Hello Ms. waiting4LongNow, Did you receive the checklist via email after you called NVC and they informed you that you have AOS checklist? If so, when did you receive the checklist via email?

I spoke to the NVC agent two days ago and he said that we have checklist (AOS -- very minor changes). NVC agent said the checklist will be emailed to us shortly. I wonder how long it will take to get an email with checklist.

I already missed the occasions. I will miss my first wedding anniversary this month, too.

    Hi there,

Yes! We received the NVC checklist on 8th dec, but, we were told about the checklist on 28th nov ( over the phone). It will be ideal if you send the updated AOS with the minor changes incorporated and very importantly, make sure you ask any questions or concerns that you may have while filling the AOS before sending it out. Don't wait for the checklist email.

  7. Hi guys,

I have absolutely no idea how to control my frustration at the NVC stage of my visa journey. We received the scan date of 6th oct at NVC and on 28th nov, we called NVC and they informed us that we have AOS checklist regarding discrepancy in aggregate and gross income of my husband ( which is way above the poverty line income mark of 24k). My husband sent the updated I-864 (received by NVC on 1st dec ) with the income details updated and he explicitly asked NVC if we need to mark the checkbox stating if we are attaching the transcripts and the representative at NVC told us to leave it unchecked. Today, we received the email from NVC about the first checklist which was communicated to us on 28th nov and my husband tried contacting the supervisor at NVC to see when can we expect our case to be completed and we were told by the NVC supervisor today that the checkbox was to be checked and can't be left blank and we should be expecting a second AOS checklist. I am in such a frustrated mood right now and can't stop cursing NVC for providing incorrect information and then, having us bear the brunt of it :( I feel helpless as I don't see my interview getting conducted in January and I won't be with my husband to celebrate both my birthday and our very 1st marriage anniversary.

  8. AOS Scan date: 11th Aug

    IV Scan Date: 18th Sep

Called NVC 2 weeks back and the operator told me that I have made a mistake in i-864 form. Basically I missed few columns in i-864. Do I need to wait for NVC to send me an email detailing this or should I just send them the updated form again?

    Hi,

We had a similar issue with i864 and we got a issue with aggregate and gross income despite checking it with NVC representative. We got to know about it n Friday last week, and we have sent the updated i864 as it is anyways going to take some time for you to get the new scan date from NVC and then another long wait. I would suggest that you send the updated i864 ASAP.

  9. Hi everyone,

We got a checklist yesterday...scan date 10/06 ...we sent both the packets together to NVC. We didn't send my original birth certificate but we sent a cover letter with my original matriculation certificate as a proof and informed them that we have applied for my original birth certificate at the issuing authority in India and we will be producing it at the US embassy during our interview. And guess what....we didn't get a checklist for the missing birth certificate but for an issue in I-864, which we confirmed and re-confirmed with NVC representatives before we sent both the packets. We entered the aggregate gross income which is almost triple the Poverty line limit specified by USCIS and now, the rude representative told my husband that we should have entered aggregate net income. He asked her if there was another issue with the packet thrice but she refused and asked us to send the updated I-864.

In the meanwhile, we were issued the original birth certificate and we are going to enclose it with the updated I-864 but now, another long wait begins....it's been so long now that we are stuck in this visa journey. The worst part of the incident is that we can't even point out that we had covered our bases before we sent out the packets to NVC as we don't have a written transcript of the conversations we had, with NVC representatives earlier.

I am just so depressed. I hope to get through this checklist review really soon :( sigh sigh sigh!!

@Saylin- how much time does it usually take for the checklists to get reviewed?

  10. @mofatsd - Thanks for the prompt reply. Another thing that I wanted to check was regarding the scan date. We received the IV receipt for the IV Fee payment on 26th sept. however, we received the DS 260 acknowledgement on September 30th. When we called NVC , they said that they received our AOS and IV document packets on October 6th. So, in order to track our case, the scan date should be October 6th.Right? Please correct me if I am wrong.

  11. The N/A parts on the last box has always been "N/A" - it doesn't mean you've got case complete (sorry to be the bearer of bad news!) -- What you are specifically looking for when they say their CEAC 'changed' to N/A is the PAID part. When you get AOS Fee N/A & IV FEE N/A then you start calling frantically cheering. Still got some time buddy! Hang in there! :goofy:

  12. Hi guys,

Congratulations to all the petitioners with their CC :) I am hoping to get ours some time soon. I had one query regarding the NVC status. On the CEAC website, I just checked the status by putting in invoice ID and case no, and I see three sections :

Section 1 : Choice of Address and Agent : DS 261 Status --> Complete

Section 2 : Affidavit of Support filled by my husband (Petitioner) --> AOS Fee Paid and AOS Supporting docs --> N/A

Section 3 : Applicant information ( Me , Principal Applicant) --> IV Fee Paid; IV Application Completed and Civil Documents --> N/A

Now, my query is how to decipher if my case is complete. When my husband called NVC, they repeated the text of the 60 day waiting window email that we were sent earlier. Our NVC Scan date is oct 6,2014.

    Thanks in advance :)

  13. Hi guys,

My husband sent the AOS and IV documents last week and I just received an email from NVC stating that due to increased number of approvals, the waiting time for them to review our application is going to be around 60 days. This means that I am going to be in India for another 3 months as the interview and medical will happen only after NVC notifies us further. This waiting game is really killing all our plans.

Has anyone else received such correspondence from NVC? Will the wait really be this long?

  14. Hi Fellow Petitioners,

I have been in the NVC processing phase of my visa journey. We are supposed to send the IV packet and I had a few questions regarding it,if anyone could address it. The visa website (http://travel.state...._documents.html) States that one must obtain the original or certified documents - be it birth certificate or police clearance or marriage certificate. This is a little confusing to me and my husband as we are following the process on our own without an attorney. Does it mean that we have to submit the original documents ? What does 'certified copies' mean here? Does it mean that I get my documents attested or certified by a gazetted officer? Also, the link above states that :

Important: If we asked for an original or certified copy you must send the actual original or certified copy of the document to the NVC. You cannot submit a photocopy or a notarized photocopy as this will delay your case.

This confuses me a lot more as I am in India and my husband is in US. Does this mean that I have to mail original documents to him to complete the IV packet to be sent to NVC? I hope, if this is what I am supposed to do, will I not require thee original documents during my interview? Or will I get these original documents back?

    Thanks in advance!!

  16. Welcome! :)

    Hi Guys

I have been following VJ forums for quite some time now. And, honestly, the anarchy on this website helped scramble everything that I thought I knew when my husband applied for a green card for me.

@sweetswinks - if I were to write my first post on this forum, I would have chosen the same topic as you did 'New and Confused' :)

My husband and I got married in India on 31st Jan,2014. We had to wait for over a month for the marriage certificate to be issued to us because of lots of local holidays in India around that time. He is a US citizen and he sent i-130 locally in the SFO office on pd 13th March,2014 and we got the NOA1 on 17th March,2014. Our case was transferred to Nebraska and as luck had it, we have been waiting for our NOA2 ever since. I am hopeful that we will have some clarity by mid august as that will mark the approximate work around time of 5 months for fellow Nebraska filers.

Luckily, I had a valid B1/B2 visa so I decided to quit my job in India, take a 2-3 months sabbatical (expecting that I will have a valid work permit by august) and come to US on a tourist visa while my green card application is in process. Thankfully, US immigration officers at the airport let me into US and I have been here for a little over 2 months now and my tourist visa is valid until november end. Now, I have a lot of questions regarding timelines for various milestones of this visa journey and that's what makes me 'New and Confused' ;)

    1) If all goes well and there's no RFE and we get NOA2 by mid august, does the applicant gets to decide when he wants to get the interview scheduled?

    2) Is there a pattern that Nebraska or other visa centres follow to decide the time gap between NOA2 and the interview?

    3) I have heard people say that if the couple already (one a permanent resident or a citizen and the other is visiting like I am) is in the US while GC is in process, the Visa centres take longer to process your application?

    4) Where can I check what Nebraska is currently processing? Is there a URL or a list somewhere which I can follow?

Hoping to get some clarity on this thread!!
