  1. Hello, I am also waiting for my parents' GCs. Did you get a notice or any letter from USCIS during your wait? We have not received any communication since POE. Is it normal? Thanks.
  2. Hello All, I am happy that I have found this topic. Currently, we are waiting for my parents Green Cards. Paid the Fee: May 10, 2024 POE: June 15, 2024 Did you get a notice or any letter from USCIS during your wait? We have not received any communication since POE. Is it normal? When I was waiting for my GC, I got a letter or two from USCIS but is it was years ago.
  3. Yes, I understand that. But my question is not about GC. I need help to find a medical insurance for 2 months for green card holders.
  4. @Boiler my parents do not have any medical insurance yet. They are coming to the US on their immigration visa to get their Green Cards. Then after receiving the GCs they will have to return to their home country to finish some business. I want to purchase medical insurance here in the US for them while they are waiting for their GCs.
  5. Hello All, Can anybody share their experience with temporary medical coverage for green card holders? My parents are coming to the United States for 2.5 months to get their GC and then they will have to leave the US for several months. While they are here staying and waiting for the GC, I really want to get them medical coverage just in case. I checked such companies as Seven Corners, and Trawick. Their websites state that GC holders may be unable to purchase their policy. I did chat with the agents: Seven Corners said, no they will not cover my parents, Trawick said yes, they will cover them because they do not live here permanently yet. The thing is that my parents' situation is a very grey area, they are not tourists, they GC holders, but they are not staying here yet. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you. Tatyana.
  6. @OldUser Thank you! They will try to get everything done within 6 months. I am trying to avoid any headaches in the future.
  7. Hello VJ Fam, My parents are coming to the US to get their Green Cards. Our plan is the following: they come here and wait for their GCs and social. Then they need to go back home to take care of their affairs, mostly to take care of some family and financial things. This can take more than 6 months, we estimated about 8 months. And after finishing with their business they are moving here permanently. Here are my questions: 1. Can they leave the country two months after receiving the GCs? 2. How long do they have to stay in the USA before being able to travel overseas? 3. I read on the USCIS website. LPR can stay outside of the USA, from 6 months up to 12 months. But then I read online, that them staying outside of the country for more than 6 months be an issue during re-entry or renewal of the GC. This long absence can be interpreted as abandonment of the residency. I am confused. In what cases can they stay 6 months and 12 months? Please kindly advise. Thank you in advance. Tatyana.
  8. Hello, My parents had their interview and got approved (Yay!!!) a week ago. I remember when I had my interview 10 years ago after the approval, they gave me a sealed envelope that I was supposed to give to the officer at the airport. The NVC instruction still says the same thing on the website However, my parents did not receive the envelope. So has the process changed? I am a little confused. Can anybody who had an interview recently help me understand? Thanks!
  9. I have one more question, do I need to mail my Naturalization Certificate as proof of my US citizenship?
  10. NVC manually added my husband to my parents' cases, I assume because we file taxes jointly. They added him as a household member and requested his birth certificate, our marriage certificate, and proof of domicile. and after I submitted the documents, the system gave me a message original documents needed to be presented at the interview.
  11. Hello, My parents' interview is next month. They want my husband's birth certificate and our marriage certificate since he is a household member. I am the only petitioner. I do not have a problem sending our marriage certificate, but I am a little concerned sending his birth certificate and our tax returns across the world. It has all the sensitive information. What experience did you have sending birth certificates, and tax returns across the world? Thank you.
  12. I am waiting for the interview dates for my parents as well. It is case by case basis, all embassies are on different schedules.
  13. Hi All, Quick update. I resubmitted my father's same police certificate, and additionally, submitted an image where I color coded the NVC requirement points and my father's certificate information. I was showing them that my father's document was correct, and it was accepted. I think initially, a person who reviewed the documents made a mistake. And the second time it was reviewed by either a different person or they realized there had been a misunderstanding.
  14. Terdals and JeanneAdil Yes, they will live with us. And yes, my father's certificate answers all the NVC requirements. I sent them a follow-up message, asking what exactly was wrong with the document. If we inquire about a new certificate, it will be the same document type and the same context.
  15. I googled it, It sounded like a bribe, mutual exchange, or interaction between parties with an expectation of corresponding actions, often for mutual benefit or cooperation. Anyways, regardless, of what it means, yes, all qualifications of the document have been met. As I mentioned earlier, my mother's certificate has been accepted. it is exactly the same type of document.
  16. I sent a message to NVC they said they my father's Police certificate was invalid due to reciprocity. Do they mean he bribed someone to get the certificate? This is Non-sense. We would never do anything like that, we do not need it, my father is not a criminal. I tried to call them they suspended the phone line. How can I talk to someone, an actual person in NVC? Is it possible?
