  1. Will this be forgiven if they get married and file the needed forms?
  2. They realized that the J1 visa expire on August 8th. Does this mean they are out of status now?
  3. They realized that the foreign spouse-to-be has expired on August 8th. Does this mean they will not be able to adjust their status? or this will be considered as forgiven overstay due to marriage to US citizen?
  4. Hello everyone. I am asking this for a friend: US citizen met a person who is in the USA on a J1 visa. They have been dating for a while and thinking of getting married. This is the 3rd year the foreign person comes to the US on J1 visa. The J1 visa will expire in 2 weeks or so. They don't have home residency restrictions. If they decide to get married, is there a way for them to stay here without having to go back? Also, will their overstay be forgiven if they get married after their J1 visa expires? Thanks
  5. I am sure it is frustrating to go through this. Always keep in mind that each case is different. Overhearing other applicants being approved is not enough to assume anything. Their cases are different than yours. I remember when I went to my interview, my appointment was around 08:45 AM. I kept waiting in the waiting room till around 2 PM. Not sure why they made me wait while others were in and out before me. My visa was approved though so I didn't really care at the end of the day about the wait. Good luck
  6. A letter is better than nothing. During my I-751 I had similar situation but with a bank, and we got a letter from the bank and USCIS accepted it. Good luck.
  7. The applicant PD on his approved I-130 is August 3rd 2023. Below is paragraph B on VB for June 2024. Does this mean the fees should be paid now and submit the needed documents? Thanks
  8. The embassy won't do much. The main answer comes from the department of state.
  9. Not sure if this makes a difference, but what time zone are the USCIS servers at? You might have filed online right after midnight but the timezone could be different day still.
  10. The fact that the officer offered to withdraw the application is an indication that there is something wrong/missing/incomplete in the application or in the applicant status. As far as I know and from personal experience, officers don't just offer you to withdraw your application out of no where.
  11. I've seen a case similar to yours. Someone also from southern Lebanon who had a K1 filed and went for an interview. Their visa was approved after 11 months. I filed for my parents recently and they underwent AP for 20 days only. The embassy contacted them after 20 days and requested their passports and next day gave them back with visas. Good luck.
  12. I've seen fast cases. I filed I-130's and they were approved in about 4 months. Good luck.
  13. If you filled your I-130 properly and submitted all the required documents, there is a big chance that you will be getting an approval message soon.
  14. Yes. I've seen 2 cases (not on this website). 1 case took 11 month to get the visa and the other case took about 1 month. Good luck. Are you male or female? Did you fill and submit the DS5535?
  15. She can do the interview in Arabic, no problem. Regarding the interview date, you can get one within 30 days but it requires daily login to see if there is any appointment cancellations.
  16. As a person who spent years of my life dealing with stressful days, weeks, months, dealing with the unknown, being away from family and loved ones due to long processing times, I am all for increasing fees across the board, even if at 200% or 300% and cutting down processing times. Our time is more precious and valuable than money.
  17. I agree. But when they left to come here there was no war. Now their son is there alone and he is having serious anxiety and it is affecting him a lot. Added to the fact of no internet always for them to communicate. They need to be with him. It is a tough situation for everyone. But they don't want to just leave him alone there. If there was a visa for him to come here and be with them we would have pursue that option.
  18. The father didn't file for the son another I-130 yet. The plan was to have one parent go and the other one stay. But given the situation at their home country (war), they decided both to go back to be with their son should something happen.
  19. They did file I-130 and it was approved. But now they need to go back for possibly an extended time (over 1 year).
  20. Hello, my parents are planning to go back to their home country after 1 month, and possibly stay for extended time due to some issues going on. I assume they should file the I-131. Will it get approved/processed in 1 month? Can they file it and ask for an expedite processing in case they need their biometrics? Thanks
  21. I didnt really understand the part above. Do you mean if the father file a petition for it will take a lot longer? What is the benefit of doing that? The mother doesnt have a job here, not yet at least. She is a stay at home wife. She does have a license, bank account, her name is on the lease and utility bills. They arrived here in July of this year 2023. She will need to return in February 2024. so about 2 months from now. She might stay a year or over or under. Not sure yet. What will the re-entry permit do exactly and how long does it take?
  22. The mother just received an email from the NVC now with a case number and invoice number created as F22. When logged in CEAC, I am seeing that we have to pay 2 fees. $120 + $325. Are these to be paid now? I see the mother's name under the AOS. Can this AOS be provided from the father since he is working? Thank you
  23. She might stay a year out of the country or a bit less. What would happen if the father filed a petition for him now? Will he have 2 petitions? Regarding the mother, what is the best way for her to maintain the PR status? She definitely needs to look after her son now given his situation, but in the same time her other son and husband are in the US.
