  1. Welcome to the club Bro - 395XX here. Although I wouldn't mind being in a club let's say 10k below :dead:

NIce to see a bromance blooming on the new forum :) Pun intended :jest:

Vladdy I just hope it's not a rebound after loosing Sloner your man :D

Haha yeah I'm cheating on sloner while he's not here yet ! Lol

    We are real dvholics :)

  2. A lot of people don't bother to send back forms after they have been selected, for various reasons including not checking to see if they've won, realizing they don't meet the minimum requirements or have otherwise disqualified themselves, changing their mind about wanting to move, or be put off when they realise the process of obtaining that visa is actually quite expensive, especially if you have a family. Others are rejected at interview, or are put into administrative processing and never make it out, sometimes because they haven't bothered to submit a missing document.

Once they have issued 50000 visas, actually it's 55000, they close the program for the year. They don't rank people on any factor other than case number. So if your case number is low enough to get an interview, and you meet all the requirements and all your paperwork is in order, yes you will get a visa. This has to be the easiest way in the world to get an immigrant visa.

Sussie : that's why we need sloner in here to elaborate on his axiom ;) lolol and of course my famous second-holes theory ;) lol
  3. Susie is right ! You have to read the instructions, because sometimes cases are different, some needs military records some not ! Some lived in other countries as they own which forces them to get a PCC for that...and especially the translations of the non englsih docs...

So the best is read first the instructions and enquire help if need.

  4. I really felt lost without the other forum, especially not reading sirpercy's posts. Its a terrible waiting and waiting process, and without my team mates it would be a real nightmare truly speaking, that's why I'm so gratfull happy having you back in here...

    Salutations

  5. Thank you Susie for your input,

I've been skimming through USCIS' website and I found out about something called "re-entry permit", does this thing apply to my case?

And actually my Canadian place of residence is about 35mins away from the US border, would it be a problem if I move out to the first US town right after the border and commute everyday to school in Canada?

I would also ask you about the documents I should gather from my home country back in Africa since bureaucracy over there makes getting basic docs a super lengthy process.

    Thanks again!

Sure is does apply to you as well!

Re entry permit is also called a white passport allows you to stay 2 years out of the usa ...

But I would suggest you to go without it since its an extra procedure you don't really need !

Once you get your visa you have about 6 months to enter ! After those 6 months you just enter and activate your GC and get out for a year with no complications ...
