Got to love a self-declared snow day! I was considering since 6 am to go to the city (i live in Queens) but with all sorts of delays and cancellations on the subway lines I decided working from home is the solution

you can do either. while she's here you can file the i130 and 485 since she is an immediate relative for whom you are allowed to petition through consurrent filing (allowed for immediate relatives since visas in this category are always available).
your decision will depend on other factors such as can she stay til the whole process is finished (no need to go home to attend to whatever or your aunt being ok to support her the whole time she's here, etc)
you can do the other option too, but the first one saves all of you a lot of time, effort and money.
you certainly can and have to be her sponsor (unless you don't meet the financial requirement to be one, in which case your aunt has to co-sponsor) but it would be better to put your address as the address she'd be staying at to avoid confusion (ex. you will take financial responsibility for her in writing but she will stay with your aunt in another state, why?). it shouldn't really be an issue but it's if i were you
good luck and god bless!
Thank you so much - you've been very helpful. I'll most definitely do some research on my own as well! Again, thank you for taking your time to respond.
Best,
Dorothy

Hello fellow VJ members...
It's been a while since I posted but I am in a need of advice. I am a naturalized US citizen and have been in US for about 20 years. My mom has been visiting US for the past few years based on her 10 year visitor visa. She never overstayed or had any issues with re-entering. She always stays with her sister as we are not really close. She came few weeks ago for another visit and is residing with my aunt in Florida (I live in NY).
My aunt suggested I apply for my mom's permanent residence so she can move to states on a permanent basis and I would like your input on the following:
- Can I submit both I-130 & I-485 right now while she is here on a visitor visa or should I wait for her return to Poland and take it step by step - first i-130 and then if approved adjust her status
- Can I apply for her and be her sponsor even if she won't be living with me - she would be living my aunt in Florida
Thank you in advance - any input is much appreciated!
Best,
Dorothy

IF YOU HAVEN'T HEARD OF, OR SEEN THE MUSICAL "SPRING AWAKENING"...YOU'RE TRUELY MISSING OUT! I'M SOOOOOOOOOOOO ADDICTED! If you're on my facebook....I think u can have access to my music....I saved the videos I could find of some of the songs...FANTASTIC!!! You can also search YouTube for videos. I have a YT account and have the entire musical saved.....so if u befriend me there, you can easily watch them from my library! (warning: it's a musical about sexuality and has a bit of foul language)

I totally agree with you Amal on Spring Awakening. I saw it live on Broadway about two years ago and loved every minute of it and the soundtrack totally rocks!!!!

You've made so many sacrifices for your family and I must say I admire your dedication. I hope that in the end you and your family will end up coming back to the states. You are in my thoughts.

Hello everyone!
Good to see the daily thread tradition being resurrected ... I know i've been guilty of staying in the shadows but nonetheless let's hope that more members will come around to participate. Olivia, good to see you post and thanks for sharing your experiences. I do hope things will change on the employment front for you - take your time and soak up the innocence of your adorable little niece.
As for me I am enjoying my solitude as my husband went "home" for an extended stay back home - it does feel good sometimes to have so much time for ME... Wishing everyone a wonderful Sunday!!!
Best,
Dorothy
