DJ the consulate won't really give you the reply you need trust me on this. When I was in England they are interested in is how long you resided in the country the other time I was traveling I resided and worked for 11.5 months so calculate that you will find you might have resided for 9 months for example so fill out your application reflecting your time in residenace. That's the key word residence.
DJ any other questions ask me mate I learnt a lot about this whole process if I had my time again I would have used a immigration lawyer.

You are under 12 months not required I was the same as you lived in the UK don't waste your money. Will give one tip if you have lived in multiple states and territories in Australia you will only require a Federal Police Certificate not one from every where you have lived.

I would wait if approved which is 99% of the time the turnaround is 5 business days I got my passport back in my hands in 7 business days. This also depends where you live I was living on the the Central Coast if interstate add 1 day.
I heard when I went for my interview someone in a similar situation the consulate where not happy when they tell you not to book flights.Postpone your trip by 3 days 1 week it will be worth it.I understand your pain my process took 14 months.
Any questions ask
