The heck with parents. I guess the state knows better. ‘State sanctioned kidnapping’ bill clears Washington Legislature (The Center Square) - A Washington bill that would allow youth shelters, host homes, and state agencies to not report runaway youths seeking abortions or irreversible gender surgeries has cleared the Legislature. SB 5599 initially passed in both chambers, but was sent back to the Senate for concurrence with several House amendments, receiving an 29-20 vote on April 19. The bill has sparked strong controversy for what critics say is a direct assault on parental rights and due process due to how it adds a new reason to not report runaway minors to their parents or legal guardians that does not involve neglect or abuse. https://www.thecentersquare.com/washington/article_962ae83a-dfb1-11ed-86ec-fbb98d0d8417.html

Not to worry, the banks partaking in this racket are too big to fail. -

Apparently the Feds also think this is a good indication of people willing to pay more so that others can fail. -

Yep, progress I guess. Teens face only misdemeanor charges — of criminal trespassing — after crashing stolen car, killing infant in Chicago Two teenage boys are facing only misdemeanor charges after they allegedly stole a car and crashed it into another vehicle, killing a 6-month-old baby in Chicago last week. The boys, ages 17 and 14, were each charged with just one misdemeanor count of criminal trespassing in the deadly April 16 crash in the city’s West Garfield Park neighborhood, according to Chicago police. The teens were driving a stolen Hyundai when they slammed into a Ford pickup truck at the intersection of West Washington Boulevard and North Kostner Avenue shortly after 5 p.m., according to cops. https://nypost.com/2023/04/23/teens-charged-with-misdemeanors-after-crashing-stolen-car-killing-infant-in-chicago/

Seems to be the Democrat plan in a move toward communism. -
Back on topic, I agree with you about EVs. EVs have a place, and they will work for some depending on individual situations, or desires. My only issue is all the politics surrounding EVs and the false notion that these vehicles will solve a manufactured crisis. EVs are not zero emission regardless of what some politician or manufacturer tells you. The source of the electricity is of course the obvious source of emissions, but also there are a lot of VOCs that are emitted every time an EV goes through a charge discharge cycle. Then there is the issue of how EVs will work for those living in multi family apartments. Will apartment owners put in charging stations for all residents? I doubt it. I expect apartment owners will put in commercial stations and these will be at a premium for those needing to use them (I was talking to my co-worker the other day and we were opining as to how long our company was going to keep providing free charging for those driving EVs). I can certainly see why Tesla provided free charging to buyers when they were starting out, but even they are trying to claw those vehicles back so-to-speak with incentives to get out from under paying for this. In the end, we will most likely have some sort of mix unless governments get their wish of pushing people away from personal transportation.

So if we allow children to make this decision with little counseling either for or against, why are children not allowed to do other things that are forbidden until they turn 18? There will always be exceptions to the rule for specific medical conditions, but how do you explain the fadishness of this current push? How does a kindergarten teacher end up with an entire class that identifies as the alternate gender? If this is truly an issue, why are the numbers greatest in some areas (not common across the population)? If this was truly a medical/psychological issue, why are some medical facilities (Vanderbilt comes to mind) pushing it for the dollars it brings in? If this was a just a psychological issue, then why are those that de-transition treated so poorly by the trans-activist community? Why is it always a Sophie's Choice regarding potential suicide when the suicide rate of children that go through gender affirming care is the same? Personally I am not in favor of any elective plastic surgery for minors, but that is not my choice for others just as this is not my choice if it is made by the child and the parents with competent counseling. Instead we get states that are doing everything they can to take the parents out of the decision, providing everything they can to let children make this monumental and irreversible decision and yet forbid children to do other things like drink alcohol, smoke weed, etc. Whatever, when you equate an actual medical need to the entire population there is going to be pushback. Corporations would be in a better position if they did not dip their toes into hot social items. Heck, even Phil Jackson is saying the NBA in all their social activism is un-watchable, and it is. People do not want this activism pushed in their faces.

Never really watched either of them, so don't really care. I suspect both will land on their feet.

Why is it sad to see that loyal consumers are voting with their dollar? That is the free market. As I said earlier, companies can do whatever they want relative to political causes which the trans-activist community is pushing a big cause. I personally don't think InBev/AB would have seen the same response with Rupaul as they are a drag queen which is not the same as a transgendered activist. What a lot of people are seeing with this transgendered activism is how it is impacting children with what is essentially a fad. There are states requiring medical insurance companies to pay for "gender affirming" care, but for some reason these same states are not protecting those that decide afterward to de-transition. Whatever, when activists are out there pushing this sort of permanent physical change on children, often times taking the parents out of it, a lot of people in the weeds take notice, and the transactivist InBev/AB choose seems to be at the forefront of the fad they are pushing.

Please help - Reentry permit DENIED!
Dashinka replied to C&I's topic in Working & Traveling During US Immigration
Personally I would not bother with the expense of an SB-1. From the limited stories here on VJ, they seem to have a high bar to get approved, but that is up to you (search SB-1 in the VJ search engine). If you are not sure how long you will remain out, I would take route of coming back for a few weeks, and apply for a new re-entry permit. This may take a few weeks as you need to wait for biometrics (there is no guarantee they will re-use older biometrics). Good Luck!- 39 replies
