  1. This is not really surprising as when government's try their hands at social engineering (read as "progress") they usually fail miserably. Seems to be a similar situation going on in the DPRK. https://www.dailynk.com/english/three-n-koreans-help-explain-their-countrys-declining-birth-rate/
  2. Great piece on the "progress" made in US universities. It might be time to dismantle the system considering what they have become. It's Time to Upend the Modern University The Center for American Institutions at Arizona State University recently put forward some policy recommendations that should be closely considered by every state legislature in the country. The recommendations were part of a detailed report, “The Study of American History in Our Universities.” The findings of the report were damning: they revealed an overwhelming, disproportionate emphasis on teaching the negative aspects of American history. But pertinent to the question of reforming the university, the report included several policy recommendations. First, the report calls for educational transparency. All course syllabi should be publicly available and easily accessible. Most syllabi at most public universities are not available to anyone outside the university. Americans should know how their tax dollars are being used in the classroom. Second, the report calls for administrators and regents to insist on broader faculty searches that are not aimed exclusively at attracting highly ideological, left-wing candidates. State legislatures could also write this requirement into law. Lastly, the report recommends upending the hardened disciplines within the humanities and social sciences through the creation of multi-disciplinary departments, schools, and colleges within the university, complete with expansive curricula to encourage dialogue across the disciplines and to foster greater intellectual diversity among the faculty. https://www.realcleareducation.com/articles/2024/02/12/its_time_to_upend_the_modern_university_1011276.html
  3. There is no official deadline as to AOSing after a K1 marriage, but the general recommendation you will find here on VJ among most members is to try and do it within the 90 days if possible. As @Redro posted, there are possible issues although they are quite rare. That being said, the best thing for you is to get the AOS package in as soon as possible. Good Luck!
  4. This may be helpful. Good Luck! https://www.uscis.gov/adoption/bringing-your-internationally-adopted-child-to-the-united-states https://www.nolo.com/legal-encyclopedia/how-bring-your-adopted-child-the-us.html
  5. Depends as this is a bit of a grey area, but to be safe, probably best to not do it. Good Luck! https://www.nationofimmigrators.com/2012/06/immigration-lawyers-arguing-can-i-work-from-home-for-a-foreign-employer/
  6. No, the divorce decree will be the proof your fiancé is free to marry. A death certificate of the former spouse would only be needed if the marriage had ended due to the death. Good Luck!
  7. I am not sure about the waiting, but honestly it seems you already have been waiting quite some time. If your wife formally requests an expedite based on her medical condition, yes, she should include proof of that condition from her Dr. Good Luck!
  8. This may help. If the consulate is requesting more information on any of the forms they gave you, you mentioned the DS5535, complete those as quickly as possible. https://www.path2usa.com/blog/all-about-221g/ No real way for any of us to know this answer. Submit any information requested as soon as possible. She may be able to request an expedit based on her illness. She can also contact her Senator or U.S. House Representative. https://www.uscis.gov/policy-manual/volume-1-part-a-chapter-5#:~:text=In the context of an expedite request%2C humanitarian, medical treatment in a limited amount of time. No. Who knows. It might be due to lack of cooperation from your current government, or just difficulty in completing it. You wife could request an expedite (see above). There is not much you can do as far as I know. Good Luck, and hopefully your AP will be shorter than average.
  9. I don’t disagree with his take on NATO, but his timing is horrible. He needs to keep the focus on the current corrupt senile petulant occupant in the WH.
  10. Current wait times in Jakarta for a B2 is 10 calendar days. That being said, I agree, if family members want to try and get a B2, there is no reason they should not start that process now.
  11. Now tell me, why in the heck did Trump go out there and start hammering Nato, and the Swift/Kelce thing? Sometimes Trump does not know how to get out of his own way.
  12. Why are Democrats so insistent with re-defining words?
  13. With that the case, I would answer "no" on your own DS160.
  14. If this were me, I would answer no since your family members do not have their B2's in hand right now. If they do get B2's prior to your K1 interview, you can discuss that with the consulate officer conducting your interview and change it is needed. Be very careful with any engagement parties, or religious engagement ceremonies that can look like some form of wedding when you are applying for a K1. In general you should be fine, but make sure it looks like an engagement ceremony, and not a wedding. Good Luck!
  15. The problem is that this isn’t taught to natural born USCs that go through the atrocious public education system.
  16. Which two did you get wrong? Found this disturbing. I know it is a bit dated, but it certainly shows the lack of US Civics education here in the U.S. most likely due to the orchestration of the public education system. https://www.annenbergpublicpolicycenter.org/political-communication/civics-knowledge-survey/
  17. We used the dates on my wife’s airline itineraries.
  18. Spousal visa. That way once you have an approved visa and enter the U.S. you are immediately an LPR authorized to work with no need to file the AOS/EAD/AP. Of course you need to get legally married first. Good Luck!
  19. Our cousins just passed their N400 interviews. They are husband and wife that came in 2019 on DVs, so they applied under the 5 year rule. For some reason one of them was only asked four questions. I do agree, many N400 applicants have a better grasp of US civics than many natural born USCs. No reason to make it harder at this point.
  20. This is a bit of an over-the-top reaction. What grown adult admits to wetting the bed. Of course, it is Begala. Btw, they make a product for that. Bill Clinton's former strategist says he woke up 'every two hours crying and wet the bed' after Biden's classified documents debacle: 'This is terrible for Democrats' https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-13066853/bill-clintons-former-strategist-says-wet-bed-bidens-documents-debacle.html
  21. Except for the Democrats in DC that feel the Constitution is too restrictive to their power. Hence the constant attack by the Democrats and the Leftist MSM on all those restrictions. The elite in DC including the career high level bureaucrats seem to think the Federal government should have all the power, but they forget, it was the Union of the States that created DC. I can see some separation potential over time with all this Federal “progress”.
