I can't believe it. I'm on vacation visiting my husband and his family in Japan when I get this email from NVC. I thought maybe it was a checklist, but nope! It was an email to tell us that his interview is scheduled for next month in Tokyo!! I didn't even know our case was complete! We're both excited! Especially since we were together when we got this happy news!

You need to determine whether this is something you can get past with your wife or not. Some can. Some cannot.
If you go for a divorce, you will be better served by putting your hurt/anger/etc on tha back burner and proceed with the legalities in a stable state of mind. If she admits to an affair which leads to the breakdown of the marriage, then you have a very good chance of not paying spousal support. Child custody and support are an entirely different matter. You need to think carefully about what is best for the child - not you or your wife - but the child, then proceed accordingly.

Yes, there is a mistake. They are requesting your husband's koseki touhon. That one is a transcript of his family records. The shouhon is only an excerpt and often omits anything that has to do with former spouses such as divorces, annulments, and deaths. USCIS definitely wants to know about that kind of stuff. You need to get the koseki touhon from your city hall or ward office.
I'm sorry I can't help more with the RFE stuff.

Yet another frustrating twist for our case: my husband texted me this morning all excited that our IV bill is showing up on our online summary page, but doesn't show up on our invoice page. Can anything in this process just work in a logical manner??

You need to first remove you and your children from the situation, google shelters in your area and go to one - explain your situation. Shelters are very welcoming.
Do not tell your husband where and when you're leaving, as this could be dangerous and he could be even more abusive. The important part is getting out!
If you have all the proof of the abuse, definitely file a police report and get a restraining order so he cannot come after you, OR your children.
If you need to talk, I am an abuse counsellor and can talk with you further through private message.
PLEASE get out now, do not wait in worry about your childrens immigrant status - that wont be helpful if something bad happens to you or those kids.

Since you have your conditional green card you are good to go. The children are another story.
Right now your number one priority should be to remove yourself and your children from the situation. Call the police, go to a shelter, find a relative or friend you can stay with.
After removing yourself from the situation then you can worry about the rest.
Just a note, take with you any papers proving you had a real marriage such as bank statements from joint accounts, bills with both your names, copies of insurance policies with both names, anything that proves you lived together and had joint accounts.

Yay! We finally got our IIN to go with our case number that we were assigned last week. I'm so relieved! I was starting to think this stage in my husband's immigration was a dream that we'd just keep chasing forever! Now to play the waiting game with getting our AOS fees generated and showing as paid!

I know its random because I actually bothered to look through the receipt numbers (in batches) and empirical evidence proves that they leave out receipt numbers willy nilly and move onto transferring batches that are not consecutive. I am a computer scientist by profession and I consider myself sane enough (whatever sane means right now) to identify nonsensical patterns of processing.
Also CSC, NSC and TSC dont have anything to do with decision making about who gets transferred.
They are recipients of the transfer. What does the fact that they exist have anything to do with the transfer ?
NBC is where they are transferring and they are doing it like they're on crack cocaine.
What does the number of cR1/IR1 applicants have anything to do with the order in which they are processed ??
What does RFEs etc have to do with processing first-in first-out ?
Why not process them in a certain order ? They're mixing up PDs to the point where people with PDs from later in the month are being processed than those with PDs from earlier dates for no damn reason.

How is it that they are transferring their receipt numbers in no particular order ?
I understand that batches of 1000 are being processed per day, but why not do it in ascending/increasing/upwards order ?
They are literally taking random cases, transferring in a NOT-FIFO fashion and operating in a state of complete chaos.
What is this banana republic ?

you are only required to show current tax return that's 2012 and show on I-864 20,11, 2010. Unless he wants you to do 2013 tax return. if that's the case you going to have a bit of delay.

Get on the plane and go home. When your child is born in Australia then file custody and visitation per the laws there. If he wants any visitation in the US the US Courts will honor the Custody papers from Australia.

I sometimes wondered that as well, but I always reminded myself that this will all pay off in the end. After all this, we get to spend the rest of our lives with our spouses that we have waited so long to be reunited with again.
As my husband always says whenever I cry about this: this is just a small percent of our lives.
We cry about it now, but the sadness we currently feel will be just a distant memory this time next year.
Hang in there! We're all in this together.

Regarding those who are deployed please remember that this was by choice. People do not join the service not knowing that there is a chance of deployment.
I saddened that you feel that telling me to 'suck it up' is helpful when I believe it is clear that I am feeling very depressed.
I should not have posted anything here.
