  1. No, the tax information and w2 are not REQUIRED at all embassies as long as the claims are supported with other evidence. Also, both the sponsor and cosponsor have an income well over the poverty line (but the job of the primary sponsor was just acquired this year so we used a cosponsor to be safe).

We were approved with what i had listed. Thanks all for your help!

  2. Sure that sounds like a great idea! And we did not meet online actually, we met at school in the US.. so maybe I can put those details in there as well.

Have you gone for an interview? Any idea what kind of questions my fiance could expect? Does the CO ofteb critique the documents and ask questions arising from them? Or are the questions typically more standard?

    Thanks for all the help!

  3. We didnt have any written letters, and most of our email correspondences were just about the visa and not very telling of a relationship (just like attached documents and a brief description) since most of our communication was done through messaging serivces (and some of those transcripts we are providing). My engagement ring is actually my late grandmother's ring, so no receipt (and also no formal ceremony to document with pictures/etc), since our engagement was decided upon during my visit to India rather than a formal proposal. Adding him to my lease/bank accounts is a great idea.... but unfortunately i dont think i will have time now before the interview :( just 24 more hours and due to the time difference, by the time i could get that done it would be evening there and he wouldnt be able to print that proof anyways.

Any other suggestions or tips? Maybe include any other letters or statements or our relationship? Any other documents that i could give?

  4. Unfortunately we dont have many more photos than what we are providing. The photos we have are something like: one of our first dates, vacation photos, his graduation with me and his parents, pictures from when I traveled to India, and a few other random pictures from our time together. We are giving mostly all we have. Do you think this is enough? We have some more that are very similar/from the same times as some of the ones we are providing. Do you think this is enough?

  5. Sorry for the exhaustive list but this is what we have. If anyone could let me know if it seems like im missing anything??

    · Police Report

    · Medical Report

    - Address Explanation (petitioner has multiple addresses)

    License

    Lease to prove secondary address

    -copy of i129f

  6. The ds156 and 156k that the previous person mentioned are no longer needed for the k1 visa after Oct 2013 (so if you were approved before this then I would double check what way you should be filing). Now, everything is filled in the ds160 electronically, and as the OP said, the confirmation page is all that is required of the applicant to bring to the interview (I believe it should be stamped though by the medical appt/biometrics).

From what I see here it seems you the only other things you may need are W2/tax documents of the sponsors for the i134. However, whether or not they are NEEDED depends on the embassy it seems. I'd check with your embassy to see if you need to provide these.

Also I hear it's good to bring a copy of the i129f and the forms submitted with that as well as if you have any hard proof of marriage intentions (i.e. engagement ring receipt/photos, wedding venue, invitation list, plans, etc).

Read through your country's packet 4 for better idea of what is expected of you at the time of the interview.

    Good luck!

  7. I'm no expert - just going on mostly what I've learned here! But having too much evidence is better than not having enough. Better to be prepared for every contingency, than to have a question come up that you don't have evidence for. The amount of evidence you bring shouldn't raise any suspicions.

The reason multi-race could possibly be an issue is because it makes them think that possibly you have nothing in common and it could cause them to be suspicious about your reasons for marrying. But as long as you can show you have plenty of other things in common, such as language and/or religion, and other interests, race shouldn't be a problem at all. They just want to see you have some grounds for a real relationship.

Exactly! But we have every proof necessary to substantiate that we're a legitimate couple with things in common, have met multiple times, etc etc. We're just so scared about the questions that we might be asked or our paperwork might raise! :/

Thanks so much for the advice/tips!

  8. My fiance has his K1 visa interview next week. We've been trying really hard to get everything in order and I just want to know if anyone has any suggestions?

We will bring all the paperwork as asked by packet 4 of our embassy, but we also have other supporting evidence to a lot of the topics (i.e. letter explaining multiple addresses, parental approval letters, letters explaining employment situations, financial supplements, etc). Is there such thing as too much proof? Will it look suspect or be too much for the CO if my fiance has a large stack of supplemental information?

We don't talk on the phone too much (but message every day), how many segments of messaging transcripts should my fiance bring in addition to phone call logs? (as of now we have about 8 app conversations spanning Oct-present and 8 facebook conversations)

We didn't have any 'official' engagement ceremony, nor do we have solid wedding plans set (since he needs his visa first - duh!).. but we will be providing a tentative guest list for the marriage (only ~10 people since it will be small).

We're trying to minimize the opportunity for questions/doubts since when people get nervous, they tend to babble (my fiance included). We have heard of many people being issued 221g for reasons that were (seemingly) unclear.

Do you think we have prepared enough? Any suggestions/advice?

(FYI, we're both previously unmarried, he's older than me (in our 20s), and we are an inter-racial couple.. just to address some previous things I have seen raise 'red flags')

  9. My fiance has his K1 visa interview next week at the New Delhi consulate. We've been trying really hard to get everything in order and I just want to know if anyone has any suggestions?

  10. One packet states they are required, then you need to research about what is required for your particular consulate. Not all of them have the same requirements and many could answer your question but be mistaken because they are going off the instructions and what is required for their own, different consulate. When it comes to the K-1 interview, you should always follow the instructions and requirements for your own consulate and not follow any guides for any other. Check the reviews for your consulate and the India regional forum to find out if others were required to submit tax returns with their I-134.

Both packets 3 and 4 were from our particular embassy. That's why we're so confused.

If anyone else has any suggestions, please let me know!

I will check out the regional forum as well - thanks

  11. If you earn over the 125% poverty guideline and you're stable in your recent job, you might not need to provide tax returns at all, or use a co-sponsor. Have you read reviews on Indian embassies to see what they tend to ask for?

Yes, we have looked over the requirements. BOTH the packet 4 (final packet) from the New Delhi embassy as well as the instruction sheet for the I-134 do NOT say the tax returns/W-2 are a requirement as long as proof of income is established. But I was concerned because packet 3 says they ARE required.

I, the primary sponsor, will be providing tax returns/W-2 for myself for the past 2-3 years, although none of those reflect my current financial situation.

Since the interview is so soon, there is no way to get these documents from my cosponsor, but like I said, his income was established in a variety of other proofs. Do you think there may be issues because of this?

  12. Since our k1 visa hasn't been approved yet, we obviously haven't made any finalized wedding plans. However, I've heard stories of people getting rejected for not being able to answer the question: "When/where/how do you plan to get married?" or being asked for a guest list.

We also didn't have an engagement party.

Should we make some kind of tentative plans for this purpose? How should we address these kind of questions?

  13. So last year I was a student and did not meet the poverty guidelines for the I134. However, I now have a full time job well above the 125% line as of this year (Sept). I am submitting a letter from my employer, bank statements, savings bonds, pay stubs, and birth certificate along with my i134.

Also, I DO have a cosponsor submitting bank statements up to a year back, pay stubs, letter from employer, birth certificate, and proof of home ownership (but no W2/taxes) with their i134.

If the cosponsor is not submitting W2, do you think its best I leave out my W2 as well? What about including my 2012 tax return if I owed money since I was making so less? Do I have enough evidence to substantiate the i134?

    Thank you!

  14. So my situation is this:

Last year I was a student and did not meet the poverty guidelines for the I134. However, I now have a full time job well above the 125% line as of this year (Sept). I want to know if including my 2012 W2 when I earned less is necessary or could it even make me look bad? (Also I ended up owing on my tax return due to confusion with one employer).

Also, I DO have a cosponsor but they are not submitting tax or W2 forms, just supporting evidence, plus proof of assets (since the cosponsor is a homeowner).

Since the cosponsor is not submitting W2, do you think its best I leave out my W2 as well? What about including the 2012 tax return which I owed money on?

I do plan on providing substantial evidence and documentation of employment (both sponsors have an employer letter, bank statements, pay stubs, and birth certificate included).

    Thank you!

  15. just to be on the safe side, write a letter explaining the situation and yes, i would also provide the w-2. i sent that all to my fiance and we had no issues.

as for the co-sponser, as long as your current job shows that you make more than the poverty line, you do not need one. but i would also say that if it makes you more comfortable, go ahead and send your parents info. its always better to have more, than not enough.

lastly, dont forget to send a copy of your birth certificate with your i-134, to prove your citizenship.

    smile.png

Great! I did send both my and my co-sponsor's birth certificate, just forgot to mention it.

But just to clarify, you think I should send my W-2 just with an explanation of my current work situation? (It won't look bad?) And it shouldn't be a problem that I do not have my co-sponsor's W-2 (since I am providing other supporting documents)?

Thanks so much for your advice!

  16. Hello! My fiance's interview date is fast approaching and we have some questions regarding the I-134 Affidavit of support. First, I am a recent graduate and just got a new, full-time job. This new job makes well over the 125% of the poverty line. However, since I'm new out of school, my previous year's W2 and tax return is well below that cutoff. I have supplied a letter from my employer with my salary and start date, as well as recent pay stubs and bank statements. Should I send a W2 also? Or a letter explaining the situation? Or will that raise red flags?

Second, because this is a new job, I am using a co-sponsor. My father is submitting also a letter from employer, bank statements dating up to a year back, pay stubs, and a house appraisal. However, also no W2.

Do I need a co-sponsor if my current job is making over 125%? And does it look bad to not include any W2s, but submit other evidence? Do I have enough evidence? Is there anything else that you would suggest we do?

    Please help! Need advice.

    Thank you!!
